• New PS3 Boot screen Firmware 3.0?

    With Sony ditching the old Spiderman style PlayStation 3 logo it would only make sense that the PS3 boot screen would feature their “new” PS3 logo. A video appeared on Youtube showing off the new PS3 update (probably a early released PS3 slim).

    Chances are the new PS3 FW 3.0 will bring this change on the phat PS3′s.

      That's a cool new boot logo. I like it better than the current one.

      fancy. Now wonder if they will ever add software emulation so my PS3 can play PS2 games...

      why the **** do people keep complaining about backwards compatiability? ITS GONE ON ALL NEW SYSTEMS<<<ITS NEVER NEVER NEVER COMING BACK!!!!!!

      if you wanted that feature, you should have bought a launch model like i did.....i love my 60gb laucnh,,..even tho there is a 320gb in there now...

      This is not firmware 3.0.
      As far as I know, it would start at "What's New" section. This video shows the ps3 slim starting at "Game" section.

      Maybe they will change the boot screen on the next update, but this one isn't already the third version of the firmware.

      It's the boot screen from the PS3 slim (running firmware 2.80)
      Some people say that Sony might change it on the old PS3 in fw 3.0

      They are also removing the gameboot screen so that it 'loads' faster.

      Get a launch unit if you wanting to play PS2 games. Sony will not fading out their PS2 consoles until 2012 which meant that there isn't any Software Emulation until at least end of 2010. I love my 60G PS3 :-D I'm not complaining about BC since I pay for it more than you guys who brought the new 40G and 80G PS3. Though it doesn't have an upgraded version of HDMI but it is still very satisfying. :thefinger:

      This new boot screen is nothing special... Look rather the same as the original one, only changes to the boot time and background... nothing big about that.

      it would be good to have a new boot screen on the phat's for a change, it would be refreshing, they also changed the sound well not realy but added an effect to it.

      i still dont like that new logo

      3.0 is live. My Ps3 just d/l'ed it and installed. Now the PSN is down.
