Remember the rumor a few days ago that Sony may remove the OtherOS feature on non-slim PS3′s in future firmware update? Well Geoff Levand, PS3-Linux maintainer, has gotten confirmation from SCE that the feature will NOT be removed in future firmware updates, and Sony will continue to support it.

I can really only provide users with technical support for
Linux and the LV1 hcall interface. The text above was provided to me by SCE management. If
you have any questions regarding it or any other feature
of the PS3 please contact the Playstation Customer Support
in your country. Using Playstation Customer Support will
insure your inquiry is processed through the correct

So everyone can take a breather who thought that geohot’s exploit was going to be patched

as i posted earlier .. they cant remove OtherOS , coz they have entered into many countries stating that its a computer rather than gaming console , this way they have benefitted from few tax exemptions...
so they are forced to support OtherOS

I wonder how long it will take them to remove the hardware part, or stick it on to usb, im aware it is only used so it doesnt change the ram or something. But it only lasts for the remainder of the session. and you will have to do it all over again once you reboot into linux. Do we have access to the game part of the hdd yet?
..sudo apt-get moo ^_^

Hi, I wouldn't post something on this site without proof, anything that affects you guys on the PS3 affects me also, I have no doubt you have heard the news today, which tells you I was not lying, I can't say where my sources come from, but can only help you guys prepare for it, for those who haven't seen, here is the link.

Geohot also replied to people about this, google that one
I also want to tell people, when you read more about this, there is people saying just don't update, or Flash to renew old firmwire, please people do not do this, if you want to continue using the PS3 Online DO NOT DO IT, Sony are now following in MicrippOff's (Microsoft) footsteps and banning people in large ammounts, the newest BIG BAN LIST comes from people using the 10th prestige hack on MW2, sad I know, but just be carefull people, and happy gaming and hacking, I'm all for new ways to do things
