• PS3 Hacks , 04.04.2010

For those using PS3 Proxy to bypass the 3.21 PS3 FW update, d0zs has tossed together a simple program to autostart PS3 proxy server and run it in the background.

    Quote from d0zs:

ever wanted to auto-start your PS3 proxy server and run it as a background service? i made this little tool to do just that by controlling the api of PS3.ProxyServer.GUI.exe:

updated 4/04: i fixed the auto-start, it shouldn’t be buggy at all…also you can now use it with EU or any continent, just overwrite ps3-updatelist.txt

    what does it do?:
    -hides/shows the GUI completely
-automatic start-up with windows and hides itself
    -automatically configures local IP
-after hiding the GUI, you can exit out of PS3ProxyController.exe..just run PS3ProxyController.exe again and click ‘show’ to show again…green light = running, red light = stopped.

    quick guide for auto-start:
    1) run PS3ProxyController.exe
    2) check Auto-start
    3) close & re-run PS3ProxyController.exe
    that’s it!

source code included, made with visual basic 6.
i just threw it together for personal use, so it will be buggy

this will only work with 32bit windows systems (tested on xp)

You can download the source+file below:

    [Download Auto-start PS3.ProxyServer.GUI.exe (1.66 MB)]

right now it works 100%, but i'm gonna need to clean the code up a little bit so it loads faster

      it's included in folder /source/

most of it was made with my favorite API spy: http://patorjk.com/downloads/patorjkapispy51.zip the rest was just common knowledge for using timers and functions. i put the basic in visual basic :P

      Hi there,

I've read the tut a couple of times.
tried a few different programs like logan5 and ps3.proxyserver (alone).
But anytime I try to connect it gives me "the" 80028EA6 code.

      Can anyone help me.
      I've got a 60G with fw 3.20

      Thanks

edit: new project moved here http://www.haxnetwork.net/showpost.p...1&postcount=46

i've finished it. here's the final version:
      <--continent menu displayed
      DOWNLOAD:
      http://www.haxnetwork.net/downloads.php?do=file&id=356
      or
      http://sharebee.com/d05fa4ca

code is now optimized, shouldn't even see anything pop-up when you restart, i tried to mimic it as a background process as best as i can

i also added continent support for setting ps3-updatelist.txt. it actually downloads it from ps3.update.playstation.net and changes the values, so when sony changes ps3-updatelist.txt and it no longer works you'll have a 1-click solution to fix it.

i'm gonna stop working on the project (source is always included) and work on my own ps3 proxy server app..no point in making a ghetto app control another ghetto app, all i want is to install it as a real background service. gimme a couple weeks and i'll have a real program to post

it won't help you out in anyway if you can't read:
"run it as a background service", auto config, auto-start...as listed above...

what error are you getting? i didn't make it for win7 but i can easily change some things around so it will.

i figured the tool was pretty self explanitory, but all you need to do on your ps3 is change your network settings to use a proxy, and point the proxy to the ip listed below in the program (for example: 192.168.0.4 is what it shows in the screenshot). also set the router's ip (usually 192.168.0.1) as the primary dns when you change your network settings, lets you download from the store. this is all info taken from the original proxy server thread.

try restarting your computer, i had used logan's tool before i made this and it gave me that error randomly, restarting seemed to fix it.

I've come across your controller on here and decided to give it a try.

I didn't quite like how it handled so I've taken the code that you supplied and redid some things to it.

Redid some opening issues and fixed the First open issue. You should NOT have to RE-OPEN either PS3.ProxyServer.GUI / PS3.ProxyServer.Controller.

yeah i'll convert the code to 64bit and i'll give you the link. when you get it, judging by a previous post you'll probably need to set the compatibility to vista sp2

you put in the ip that is provided at the bottom of the program. you put that ip as the proxy when you change networking settings in ps3.

thanks for the info, after porting it to 64bit and using this compatibility it should work for win7 64bit.

edit: sorry guys but from the looks of it i won't be able to convert the code to 64bit as easy as i thought. 64bit users might have to wait a bit until i release my standalone ps3 proxy server.

goto network settings on your ps3
Select custom, and enter the following IP as your Primary DNS:
      67.202.81.137
this will keep you on earlier firmware and you can access all online functions.no need to run proxy from pc or any other program.easy as that...

Too bad I can't use it, but thanks for the effort dosz.

Just a request, since you're thinking of writing your own proxying tool. One thing I liked about PS3ProxyGUI more than Logan's tool is the fact that you can get the download link for a demos and such and then download it to your PC. Then once it's downloaded (I can turn my PS3 off for this), I can just proxy the link to search for the file on my HDD.

I hope you'll consider keeping this feature around. My download speeds run at max when using my PC, but it's never fast when using the PS3 directly.

Anyone else having issues with LAG on the PS3 ProxyServer GUI? After a few hours in "Game Title Here" - Online. The PS3 ProxyServer GUI will start to lag and then lock up witch inturn kicks you off the PS Net.

The PS3 ProxyServer GUI before didn't use to have all sort of spam links going into the filter log. But I've noticed in the last few days, it's just filling up Faaaasssssttttt!!!...
I don't think the program deletes lines in the log textbox. After so many lines have been added, I believe the log textbox gets jammed up. Thus erroring out the program.
I could be wrong, but, It happen to me just a bit ago. I was on PS Gaming online for about 4 to 5 hrs and the program crawled to a halt. Kicked me off. Program errored out.

I was wondering maybe if maybe there was a way to clear the log textbox threw PS3 Proxy Controller?

I'm gonna see if I can do this myself but if you know of a way. please post it.

      i never had that happen

you can clear it using this before it saves a new one:

      configxml.text = ""
      call SaveText(configxml, app.path & "\config.xml")

it really shouldn't append to that file, check your modded code

      config.xml includes the file list:

      <?xml version="1.0" standalone="yes"?>
      <ReplaceFiles>
      <Item>
      <URL>http://fus01.ps3.update.playstation....updatelist.txt</URL>
      <File>D:\BACKUP\ps3 proxy controller\ps3-updatelist.txt</File>
      </Item>
      </ReplaceFiles>
edit: oh you're talking about the logs, nevermind..yeah that's a webbrowser, the only way i would be able to fix that is with a resource editor
edit2: ehhh i just looked at it with a res editor, he made it in delphi so it's not too easy to fix...better off doing it by hex

edit: Before it's asked...yes, I followed the instructions on his post Put it in the PS3.ProxyServer.GUI folder with the config file.

does PS3.ProxyServer.GUI itself work for you?

if it does you can try my original copy:
      http://www.haxnetwork.net/downloads.php?do=file&id=356
      but i'm assuming you have

does any ps3 proxy server program work for you? just trying to troubleshoot

goto ps3 network settings and set the primary DNS to your router's IP

Yes, PS3.ProxyServer.GUI does work, only in my XP virtual machine though, it won't install on 64-bit because it wants to install some old .NET framework.

Not yet, might try it later.

PS3.ProxyServer.GUI seems to be working fine by itself, I redirected the ps3-updatelist.txt to the one you had in your source folder and EVERYTHING works, except Life w/PlayStation, it won't get a new work unit. That's not really a problem though.

I still look forward to your final app, that way I don't have to deal with a frickin' virtual machine.

Hi,I have a very simple way to connect PS3 to PSN without using a computer. In network settings in PS3 write this 67.202.81.137 in Primary DNS and of course setup yours IP adress and disable the PS3 proxy server in PS3.
      Sorry for my english

Aaron's DNS server must be back up then, it was down for a good 6 days. I'll stick with my method of using PS3.ProxyServer.GUI on an XP virtual machine, it basically works exactly the same anyway.

edit: I'M MOVING MY NEW PROJECT TO THIS THREAD: http://www.haxnetwork.net/showthread...ewpost&t=11920 <---go there for future updates

      well,
after many trial & error, and after extensively testing this on 32bit XP...i'm finally ready to release 1.0

      DOWNLOAD
      [exe size: 56kb]

no more ini, if you want to change the port just create a shortcut to ps3proxy and add this in the target line: -port 1234

note: if you haven't read my previous posts about this project, this is a standalone proxy server...it depends on nothing, you can move ps3proxy.exe itself anywhere you want without configuring a damn thing (i automated the bypass for ps3updatelist.txt for every region, so literally there's nothing to configure but an optional port)

      --------------------------------
      Bypass PS3 Firmware via Proxy
      --------------------------------
      How to use:

Just run ps3proxy.exe and change your PS3 network settings to point to your computer's LAN ip (default port: 8080)

Optionally, in PS3 network settings, set the primary DNS to your router's IP. (This enables you to download from the Playstation Store at full potential)

      --------------------------------

      ----Change Port?
Create a shortcut to ps3proxy.exe and on the shortcut right click->properties-> Add this at the end of the target line: -port 1234

Change 1234 to whatever port you want, or see the example I left: "Example - Change Port (8081)"

      ----Missing MSWINSCK.OCX?
Just go into included folder \Register MSWINSCK.OCX\ and run "Register MSWINSCK.OCX.bat"

      ----Problems? Let me know

Thanks to ps3hax.net for supporting this project, and the helpful community.
      ********************************
      please report any errors

..pretty sure this won't work on 64bit machines, but leave some feedback if it does

..should work with win7, though i could be wrong

also i apologize for the previous broken versions, coding quickly never works...
although it could've been made in 2minutes, figuring out the proper settings took me hours on hours...i now know the connections/servers involved with PSN like the back of my hand

in the future i plan on making it a true service installation, and any other feature requests just hit me up

when that server is no longer available, then what? i wouldn't depend on it, plus some people don't want any data passed through a random server, even though from what i can tell there's no personal data transferred.
