With the steep price of PSJailbreak , and the possibility of the USB being useless/blocked after a firmware update, many are eagerly waiting for an alternative solution. While we wait for the devs to get in their units, Mathieulh has tweeted encouraging news on his Twitter a few hours ago:
The exact chip for the psjailbreak dongle has been identified, looks like dumping it will be easy.
We encourage all of you to wait before spending money on buying the PS Jailbreak USB dongle, it is only a matter of time before we get a free/alternative version.

Remember in 3.41 Sony issued a firmware update that allows automatic updating, with out user consent. I suggest everyone turns it off. Im sure dev's will be hard at work once we get the dumps

Im curious as to what Sony will say, and at the same time i dont really want to know XD. Im glad we are making more progress. I cant wait until they release the dumps. ahah here dump means to go for a sh*t XD

Sorry, I know I'm getting off topic, but...
Can I switch HDDs without losing data? So if I would change my HDD for testing, could I later put the OLD HDD back into the PS3 WITHOUT having to erase it???
Again, sorry to bother you...

You can only have one HDD in, as the PS3 Syncs its data with that hard disk, if you were to take it out and put it in again, it isnt a problem, its only when you put a different hard disk in - without using Sonys backup feature first (as it contains specific files and such)
Just make a new topic or search the forums next time
There are ways to clone two different disks with out it asking to erase, the information you'd need is in the forums
Then it will ask you to erase it. There's no need to apologize

Thank you.

So I COULD use one HDD for my original games and to go online (in case I updated) and the other for the real fun stuff :D ???
But If I wanted to load my data (like saves etc) onto the new HDD would I get in trouble putting the old HDD back in?
I ask this because I'm still on 3.15 and I can't save my trophies...

Im not so sure about that, as i have never tried updating one HDD and inserting another one with a different Firmware - i dont think it would let you do it tbf. Your trophies are synced to a server with PSN from what remember.
So you cant lose them. Its only if you start a new PSN account then youd have to start over. Anywho, before i get told off by the mods, we better get back on track eh? hehe.

Reverse Engineering of PSJailbreak
According to user Neme6 from French site www.logic-sunrise.com has documented his findings in regards to reverse engineering the PSJailbreak. Below are his schematic drawings which represent the layout of the PSJailbreak chip and also a pinout of the main chip on the PSJailbreak! It seems its only a matter of time before this chip is fully dumped.
