   That is sony at its most arrogant way!! **** them! they are being so ****ed up by the scene that they don't know what to do anymore, and using scare tatics just show us how desperate they are.

   i think sony tried to block this exploit using update , but i think its impossible for them to do so... may be this is real and unpatchable exploit ... so sony has no other way , but to try thier usual scaring / filing case... etc... instead of filing case why dont they see cases file against them... class suit for removing OtherOS

   if the dongles really are not stolen property then we are laughing in their face.
   
   i dont use ps3 very often but i think this is funny and they cant stop us now, its well and truly OUT THERE IN THE PUBLIC DOMAIN.

   Now its our turn to do what we like with YOUR machine at last, whether piracy does happen who are you really protecting yourselves the ps3 machine or the games industry? why protect the games industry now? its well and truly a massive problem already with p2p,torrents,personal sharing,nzb and much more on other platforms.

   Well, they can say the device isn't legal, but according to european law and US law it is illegal to circumvent a security measurement, and that's exactly what this device does.. Designed for homebrew? who are they kidding.. they perfectly know very well it is (or will be) for illegal games. Ofcourse they will tell anybody the thing is perfectly legal, they sell the damn thing, so if they got their money and offloaded their complete shipment they made a lot of profit...
   
   It's a bit like cigarette manufacturers.. yes, the cigarette is perfectly safe......

   They don't care if it used for backups or homebrew! facts are facts if they say their intent was building it for homebrew, they can't be sued, no metter what they were thinking, the guys are not inside their heads to know what theyr thinking. Sony has no case here, no sony code was used, no intelectual proprety used, it was builid with the intention of running homebrew, then you all come "oh but they circumvent copyright protection" and all that bla bla bla, yeah i can guarantee you there are more than dozen laws that allow you to do that, so sony got nothing here, they better move allong and issue they'r stupid firmware update! if they can patch it!

   Of course Sony is using scare tactics.... While I must say I'm excited that I may be using my PS3 again soon, but Sony has every right to fight for their product and the hundreds of developers out there.
   
   Either way, life is short and I'm ready to play some games!

   what i would like to know is if sony could LEGALLY ban your console from playing any homebrew while online?
   
   if the psjb or clones do NOT use any copyright code and you are NOT playing backups then how are you doing anything wrong?
   
   just a thought because i still want to be able to get messages etc while playing mkv or playing emulators

    I they had bought a stock before advertising their dongle, they would be driving a big SUV around their villas in Beverly Hills. Instead they've been ****ing around and their dongle will eventually be seized.

    Yes they can while its nothing illegal doing what i said above and all, its illegal in sonys little world, meaning your playing homebrew while connected to psn that is a break of the TOS and they can ban you for that, you agreed to obey to the TOS which you clearly are not, this is not about laws, its more about sony's own laws. just play it offline why would you be connect while playing homebrew?

    lol, im one of the many who didnt bother reading the TOS.
    i didnt realise it mentioned any homebrew.
    i want to be able to watch hd movies through a mkv player or play emulators while i wait until my buds get online then i know its game time.

    In criminal court proceedings, it is the job of the prosecution to prove the accused is guilty. However, in civil matters, it's the other way around.

    Well they probably didn't state homebrew but to run homebrew you have to circumvent its security, which means you are breaking the TOS.
