With PSJailbreak just around the corners it seems that PSJailbreak game dumps are creeping on to the internet:

Also for those unaware, PSJailbreak has a limitation on what games can be played on an external drive. Game dumps with individual files over 4gb currently can NOT be ran via external HDD, due to FAT32 restrictions. These game dumps will only work via internal PS3 HDD. PSJailbreak team is supposedly working on NTFS support.

That backup manager, can it transfer games between external (usb) and internal ps3 hdd?
For example, download some games to an external HDD, then connect to ps3 and use the backup manager to transfer games from the external drive to the internal hdd. It is possible?

I think it is cumbersome to work on NTFS support as it is a closed standard. I would personally choose HFS+, ext* or UDF.

While it says that it has full support for homebrew, how does it work? I take it that no one has started to develop any homebrew for this yet but do you think it works in the way that you put your homebrew app on the external HDD, flash drive or whatever and just do the same thing as you would when choosing a installed game from it? I'm not really gonna pirate any games for the PS3. Too much of a hassle to download those huge games and have them take up som much storage. But homebrew apps is something i would really like to use. I've always hoped for a Dreamcast emulator that can run Shenmue and Shenmue 2 at 60 fps in fully rendered 1080P. It would be so awesome if it could read the games straight from the original discs too but i guess that wont be possible since the BD drive in the PS3 wont be able to read the GD Rom discs.

oh dear! i was afraid this would happen.

this will give sony all the more reason and probably extra leverage in court to try and block sales of these devices before they actually reach consumers.

Hmm, at first you must have SDK. For now there is only official Sony SDK, but using it is illegal. We have toolchain, but not SDK. You have the first homebrew, it is Backup Manager.

Well I would expect to be downloading and extra 4.1 gigs of useless data (unless it can be removed) for each torrent as $ony at least tries to slow this down with all new games.

Should we be starting a list of compatible games, and of course sections for external and internal games?

Looks like I may be in the market for a 2.5" drive.

Im gonna purchase a 2TB drive for work and that. When we do get our hands on this device, i will make a back of my ps3 HDD and see where it all gets backed up to :D.

Im sure with homebrew we will be able to make a homebrewed backup system as Sony have done for the ps3 with out the encryption layer, assuming all goes well.

Yeah i know, but once this gets up to speed, people will probably develop unofficial SDK's. The subject i was speculating in though was how do we boot homebrew apps such as emulators once they start rolling in? Would it even be possible to boot that kind of code the same way you're supposed to boot the backed up games? It would look pretty wierd seeing something like "SNES9X" or "NullDC 1.2" appear next to the blu-ray disc icon.

Yeah right, no court works that fast and besides, the manufacturer is based in an Asian country, I'd love to see how court in the U.S. could do to stop the sales of this device. It ships like, next week?

Besides, once this is out, it can be cloned by third parties and cheap knockoffs will appear like mushrooms after a rain.
