• “Russian most famous console gamer”, GamerSuper, has shared with PS3Hax that he has managed to boot PSP ISO’s off the PS3, via PSGroove and Backup manager! He has posted a POC video you can view below, and has promised us that he will release a tool to make ANY PSP ISO (your legal backup of course) to work and boot off the PS3!

Here is the email GamerSuper sent us:

I’ve been working on console scene for about 9 years already. Sure you didn’t hear of

me ’cause I’ve never made anything special and innovating.

    But things change.
I’ve been working on PSP games compatibility on PS3 since I’ve made my jailbreak.
And this week a made a real success. I worked very hard with PS3 SDK, learning PS3

architecture and structure etc and I was able to launch PSP game on the PS3.

It was very hard ’cause I changed a lot in game files and a lot on PS3 internal HDD to

get it work. Unfortanally I can’t describe here how to do it manually – it’s very long

and hard and some components are needed which are not leaked to public, and I’m not

    gonna leak them either.

Since principle of re-making game doesn’t differ from game to game, I’m currently
coding a tool which will be able to convert EVERY game from PSP ISO to PS3-compatible

    version automatically.

My project will contain of 2 parts:
1). A PC tool in which you specify input PSP ISO and output directory and just press

Convert and wait 5-7 mins. After that you get full PS3 compatible game. It can be done

    with EVERY game.

2). A homebrew PKG for PS3 which needs to be launched only once to make some changes

and copy some new files on PS3 internal HDD.

The project won’t be open-source. If you don’t have some documents and files which are

not leaked, you won’t succeed in it, I think.

    Here is the video:

Some comments on the video by GamerSuper:

There were some problems with controls since I didn’t set them properly and made

mistake (for example SELECT button was on [] and O button didn’t work at all) and a

sound problem (I think I made some mistake when building game, since there was sound

    previous times)

Excellent work indeed! GameSuper also has a blog which he is posting his current progress.

You heard it here first on PS3Hax, stay tuned for more updates!

We can't play any PSP ISO's on the PS3 yet - wait for him to actually release his tools that he's working on. Take it easy. :P

and you are worse than nobody. the man codes something that most people want for their ps3 and you try to insult him. i usually hate this cliche, but what have you done for the ps3? exactly! give the dude credit when he deserves it. this is one of the best homebrew to come out thus far. great work! can not wait for the release. always wanted to play my psp games on my ps3. i wonder if you can set it to use dual nubs on this. that would be perfect if you could. maybe you can include that option in your final release. thanks.

Cool stuff if this is legit but I was under the impression that the PSP uses different system calls and the kernel was vastly different, not to mention the code was/is compiled for the R4000 so it can't physically run on the CELL?

Then again I know naff all about the inner workings of these machines so I could be talking out of my bum

Well that might've been what he was referring to about it being overly complicated. He did mentioned he has the SDK (As he said he was using tools from it). But I do know you can play the PSP Minis on the PS3, so I can't imagine that they're all that different if you can do that, because the library calls would have to have some overlap somewhere. He did mention something about conversion too...

GamerSuper is known in Russian hacking community as a miserable idiot who steals other people's work trying to make a name for himself. It is highly doubtful that he actually coded anything. Notice how he's saying how difficult the work was and how cool he is without mentioning even a single developing term or saying even a word about his method. People like him shame our country.

So the probability that he made it is extremely small, but the tools are most probably legit. I doubt he would post a fake, since he's desperate to be recognized as a great scener/programmer. My thoughts are he just stole an unfinished work of some hacking team.

In short, the tool is probably coming, but don't believe this guy, he's full of it.

Well SFO editing would change the name and info could be done easily, then you would only need a game that ran a video right at the very start of loading, and you could replace that video file with any that you wanted as long as it was named and encoded correctly, it would give the impression its loading / running a game and would also stop and show as a game (with the name because of the SFO) in the XMB is the button is pressed.

Just hypothesising, but thats how I would do it, its quick, cheap and easy.

Yep, last several posts are spot on. The guy in the second video says that he did it to show how to easily fake something like playing a PSP game on PS3. He explains that he downloaded a demo and switched the intro video file with the gameplay video he downloaded from the net. He says that the video has no sound because it has to be a .bik file, and these have no sound when played on PS3. He also said there are some hiccups which also occur when you play this kind of video file on PS3.

So this whole "breakthrough" is fake. Honestly, I don't know why Gamersuper does this. He's either stupid beyond belief or a very skilled troll, because he has zero credibility on Russian forums and yet still posts his increasingly retarded "ports" and "game translations", each time invoking dozens of hateful replies. In any case, I suggest that administration of this site should ignore him entirely. If such kind of program has a chance of coming out, it would definitely not come from this guy.

If all you said about those videos is true than this is a fake.
Also if you watch closely at ~8 minutes you can see that he isn't even moving his analog stick in the right direction...
But we all might be wrong and there IS a program being worked on. Let's just wait

To be honest I'm not entirely surprised. He showed it running natively which simply cannot happen as the game is compiled for a different OS with different hardware. The only way this will happen is if a PSP emulator is used.

When/if a PSP emulator is released you could get the same seamless experience (launching different PSP games from XMB) by the same methods used by PSX to PSP/3 games (i.e combining the emulator and game ISO into the same package for each separate game)

Crysis was playable on a PS3 in high res as were many other games. If you had other os and a PC. You had to stream the game to the ps3 from the PC. All the PS3 does is act as a video redirect. It was a pain but possible to do it.

This guy may be fake but PSp on PS3 is possible...with time.

      All hard it is Fake.
But this, to put it mildly, not so.

The week will be new proof.

But many do not believe it until download my program and try personally.

Please wake up, Its a fake. PSP on PS3 will probably be possible, and it might even be soon if someone figures out how to use the build in emu. But it won't be this guy.

If you still believe that he did it then you act as if you still think a pile of dung is chocolate mouse, even after they have rubbed your nose in it . I'm sorry for the foul way of telling it but that's the best comparison to this situation.

      edit:
Did anyone notice that when he shows off his files on the external HDD the size of the folder is only 7.52MB... the font looks a little weird in russian... it might be 7.52gig but I doubt that. And either of those would be a very strange size for a PSP game.

Did I say it was fake or not? No. I said we will have to wait and see.

It wasn't directed to you personally. Just to those who still blindly believe in this guy. I don't mind if people want to keep a little hope in it being true. I would love it to be true as well. I just don't want people (not meaning you) being blinded... I understand some people here are new to homebrew scenes. But These kind of fakes have been here for many years and some people should be warned.

I'm sorry if you felt attacked by my post.

Ah, alright. No, my apologies. I feel like I was a bit too rude. I know what you mean, though. The PSP scene from like 2006-2008 was just amazing. Yes, there were a lot of fakes but it was still awesome. The PSP scene today is sort of a let down. Thankfully the PS3 scene has just begun and the PS3 can do so much more than the PSP can and so, like you, I'm really excited to see whats down the road.

i was kidding, idk if he is real or not but some people take it like personally when a person make a fake hack video for E-FAME or something.... im not angery at the dude, i really dont care if he is making fake bs, in fact i rather enjoy reading all the stupid drama and flame/trolling in this thread....cuz its funny to see peopel get so upset over the stupidest little thing....

i was just saying as a joke that i donated money to him....similar to how the dumbass sheep who donated money to eavpsp or any other faker/false claimer who dot release anything but fakes and false hopes....

It says 7.52GB not MB. Look at http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%93%...B0%D0%B9%D1%82

^ Russian wikipedia page for gigabyte. You can see the abbreviation (looks like rb)

Thanks for pointing out if it was GB or MB. But the point stays though.
7.52GB is too big for a PSP game
(7.52MB would have been too small)

I don't really care about these hoaxes, but it's not nice if newcomers get false hope. For people who are used to this it's even a bit fun to spot the fakes :aetsch: It would have been easy for him to fake the size as well, but he just forgot ^^
Anyway, you got to give it to him, he knows how to act, lol

I call fake. We have had a video showing how he could fake it, wrong game size, and the fact that he says he has tried multiple PSP games but only has one on his HDD. More than likely he never tried any others and was too lazy to encode another video.

It's probably Just Cause 2 that is actually in that folder... According to https://spreadsheets.google.com/lv?k...any=true#gid=0 that game is 7.52GB (the size of the folder in the video), and on his blog, he just happens to have a post on his blog (on the 12th) about how excited he is for Just Cause 2.

Okay guys, here's the deal, I know the vid is fake and never watched past the 3 minute mark (couldn't handle the dudes accent), but when I saw the "ps3" game format it looked IDENTICAL to when I used to work with UMD's when the psp first launched. I went to the forums for some help but some a$$hat by the name of bobbyblunt wouldn't let me ask my questions and then banned me for reasons unknown. What I would like to know is, has anyone else fiddled around with this concept? Before finding out the vid was a fake I went and replicated the exact same thing, I just can't get my game to boot and was rewarded with a BRAND NEW ERROR CODE!!! lol, (error occured during start operation 80028f14) and I keep hearing this nonsense about the ps3 having a psp emu due to minis, IF that's true, then (theoretically) all I would have to do is some hex editing and replicate the mini boot process with a psp game. I would just have to see the way the mini is actually put together. anyone have a JBps3 with some minis? help me out! In the mean time I'm going to keep screwing stuff up in hope of some freak accident miracle. Just want to know if what I'm trying to do can really be done at this point or not. Please help!
P.s. I don't know what he did or what, but I LITERALLY reconstructed the psp game into ps3 format (which is why it's detected, pulls up everything, music, background screen, description, etc) but apparently that's nothing special as according to the dudes in the live chat. Any suggestions?

That ***hat happens to be a moderator. Yes we saw your pics and you were being very rude in the IRC so yes you got kicked. I dont think I have to explain myself but thank you for doing as I said in the IRC and posting it as you may get your answer faster since no one in the IRC could help you. This is the third time you have called me some sort of name not to mention how rude you were being to other members.

Only because you were rude to me first and shot down everything I was trying to explain because you were too busy telling me I've accomplished nothing. (which very well may be the case ) next time try not to shoot down and shut someone up so fast, and then maybe they'll have a little less tendency to nerd rage. So sorry for calling you names? But in my defense I didn't even get to say any of the stuff I did here because you kept muting me for funsies. Not cool. Oh and if you're there since I can actually talk here, is that mini thing true? please elaborate if possible, any info would be greatly appreciated.

I said in the IRC there is a potential PSP emu in the system, but it will need work. I was rude first? You came in with demands. All I'm going to say is drop it or you're gone. I have better things to do than babysit in the IRC. People were having a discussion, if anyone there knew anything about what you were soing you would have gotten your answer. Do not get mad at us because we couldn't help you. I'm serious stay to topic in this thread and drop it. Don't post my name up because you will be gone.

I apologize for my off topic post.

okay been fiddling some more and it's been a tedious trial and error process and I don't even know if I'm truly contributing, BUT, when I started, the ps3 recognized the psp game as corrupted data when trying to load, then I managed to get it to "unsupported format" with a questionmark on the disc, THEN I finally managed to at least recognize the game and crapped my pants with excitement only before getting that error code cause it wouldn't boot. Well, now it boots. The screen goes black, blinks (as if trying to fix a resolution?) and then spits me back into the XMB with a DIFFERENT error code now (80010007) which is apparently a dirty disc. The reason it wouldn't boot before was when I was using the psp parameters, I switched it to ps3 and I got it to boot, but now I get this error message. Don't really know if I'm contributing or not, but if anyone else is playing around with this please share anything you have muchas gracias :D

I assume he managed to launch the game triggering an emulator that is in the system, there are also PS1 and PS2 emulators in system, I think he should try games for those too, if that’s how he does it.

This blog supposedly gives you a how to: http://nikita600.blogspot.com/ I recommend translate.google.com if your native tongue is not Russian. I am half way reading it now.

It’s does not look complete, but it has a direction.

If this method is not fake one have to have a PS3 game as base, if not for more than the folder structure.

      i think the user "amx70s"
have done exactly like gamersuper or geysuper "by the way, who call himself SUPER GAY???"

the only thing that may be difference is, that maybe he put a assasins creed bloodline video of gameplay into the game structure folders, and somehow when the video boots, he shows that its real by pressing ps3 homebutton, so to show its a ps3 xmb..
      maybe its a gameplay video.

maybe the ps3 have psp_emu system built in for the minis, (sony is known for being 10 years ahead of technology) they did create psp in 2004 and ps3 in 06. so they built in psp emu, but that does not mean, its easy to crack?? remember it took 3.5 year to crack the ps3. maybe lesbiansuper manage to boot some vid of the game or show the game picture in xmb , that does not mean he manage to get it to work, remember that, every people wants to get famous. like that time someone claim a ps2 could play ps3 game cod modern warfare, but a litttle laggy, ???

i do not own a ps3 yet. i still stay with my ps2. but we all hope that its real.

anyway , to other real hackers of ps3.. you guys are cool. keep it up.

and to moderators. im sorry if my post have some bad words included.

If he gets this to work you probably can convert PSX games to PSP then to PS3
