According to multiple sources, including Logic-Sunrise, new details of the Backup Manager v1.1 have surfaced.
The new features:
• Support for all firmware.
• Support for NTFS.
• Supports Blu-ray and MKV.
• Support for PSX and PS2 games.
ChipSpain suppliers have also provided more details below:

Wow! That was a sudden major improvment! Straight from hardly any ps3 games to full blown PSX and PS2 booting! Good that they have NTFS support, it will give us better compatibility!

Hmm... maybe there is a way to make it compatible with all consoles... I just wonder if it can backup an NTSC PS1 game on a PAL PS3 and run it... doubtfull... Also what about PS2 games that install to the hard drive, will we be able to boot those on PAL PS3's?
Many more questions arise from the PS1/2 support...

i dont think there will be PS2 games on non-BC consoles just yet, cos there isnt the software in the machine to run it, there would need to be a homebrew emulator programed to run on the ps3, via the jig, to do it, and that will take a long time!!!
its what i am waiting for too, got loads of ps2 games here, and no ps2, when my launch 60gb ps3 died, a little part of me died too =[

We could dump the firmware then copy the ps2 emulator... or is it stored somewhere else? Also I think the PS Jailbreak site is down, it says the domain's avaliable!

I thought Sony could recognize jailbreak-users by GAME-ID? Did they improved this with v1.1? Or was it just a suspicion, that sony is able to ban people form psn by checking GAME-ID?

Ps2 and Ps1 games, will not work without emulator or 60 gb models. I mean i put a NTSC game or a PAL one ? Anyway NTFS is most important here. Good job !!!

The ChipSpain statements look rather misleading. Doesn't XMBC need OtherOS and linux installed before it'll work on the PS3, so that would be FW 3.15 or lower? And what do they mean by "Reproduction of video formats such as MKV"? Are they claiming playback or simple file copying?

Can games backed up to the internal ps3 drive be transferred to the external drive? Or would you have to re-backup the game and specify a different location..? I'm trying to put off buying another terabyte as long as possible.

Now that they have NFTS support,maybe they will find a way for the ps3 to accept 3.5 inch externel HDD.

That tool apparently does not work, its not more than a iso extractor, that will extract your iso.
the manager when dumping your disk decrypts the security layer on the fly and that doesn't do that, the game will not boot.

when do they release the backup manager 1.1 ? i was wondering about the ntfs system to take the 4 gb limit. if it works with the game etc. like for ff13. the last movie seen is over 4 gb. can it run then ?

They should unless there are other issues with the game, we dont have expectade time frame for the release, in fact the whole psjailbreak team haven't said anything for days as far as i know.

I made a thread about this earlier but it got locked.
The new backup manager has copy protection built into it meaning that it is made to work only if an official psjb dongle is detected and it will be harder to reverse for porting.
Apparently this was the real reason for the delays.
They wanted the new features locked to their hardware to combat clones.
It shouldn't take mats team long to crack it though unless the psjb team has a trick or 2 up their sleeve.

Who's gonna buy their hardware anyway.. You really must be a dummy if you're gonna spend $170 and not being able to load the latest firmware.. I doubt they will find a way to get their dongle working with the newer firmwares.. I think they just want to cash in for all that's possible now that the cat's out of the bag.. (and their 'hack' blocked).

SuperDre,maybe their device isn't illegal in a lot of countries,but they should first get those devices to those countries.And at the moment they are not allowed to destribute those things in any way.At this moment not ONE psjailbreak is going over the Australian border.
It could take months or more than a year for the judge to come to a verdict.
In the meantime other "clones" are going to be brought to consumers.
I'm afraid the end is near for psjailbreak.

but I'm pretty sure they haven't got a solution to FW 3.42, as there still isn't a word or anything from them even if they promised to publish the new manager on or before 15 september.. and it's 16 already.. normally if there is a slight hickup you would put out a new message, but it's quiet.. as I said personally I think they just put out that message in order to get some preorders and not refund the money.. but time will tell...

i'm glad i got the ps3 working with the TI84 calculator. The psjailbreak took too long and one of their retailer (distributor) - and a scammer as well - took 3 weeks, no receipt confirmation and can't contact them at all and I had to dispute the charge from my credit card.
