Do not update to this firmware version if you wish to keep a jailbroken PS3 and PSGroove support. Sony has rolled out with firmware v3.50 bringing Blu-Ray 3D disc playback.

Additional new features in the 3.50 update include:
- Facebook Integration: Developers will be able to create PS3 games that have more interaction with Facebook. Once compatible PS3 titles are available, PS3 users can choose to access public information on Facebook – including user name, profile, uploaded photos and friends list – to enhance their gameplay experience.
- Grief Reporting Function: Users can send claim reports directly from the XMB for any inappropriate messages they receive from other PlayStation Network users. This feature is accessible from the option menu of the messages list in the FRIENDS category.

I was able to bypass this and stay online with 3.42 on my PSN machine. You might want to check 3.41 again as maybe Sony forgot to flip the switch back on

I agree... totally. I would love to be able to make use of the 3D Blu-Ray, but not at the cost of homebrew..

is it worth it no not really many people have only recently invested in a hdtv so unless there is some incentive to reinvest there is no point. secondly most people know that sony has the oled tvs on the menu so no doubt they'll probably 2nd or even 3rd gen 3dtvs if they even manage to take off.
what sony needs to do is release an update allowing a2dp so I can listen to music and films on my ps through my bluetooth headphones
what is funny is that they are so arrogant the whole nature of ps gaming has changed with the release of the psjailbreak. sony should be releasing updates that makes those who haven't upgraded to feel an irresistible urge to upgrade... unfortunately for sony that means they actually have to listen to what the gamers want

i know of a lot of people who when playing games online would find them glitchy and delayed, especialy cod mw2, even my ps3 (250gb slimline) was stuttery untill update 3.42, after that everything smoothed out,
i repair a lot of consoles and computers for a living and so i hear a lot from ps3 users (far more from anguished 360 users tho lol), after 3.42 a lot of them have said there online gaming is now more responsive and far less stuttery,
basicaly what i'm getting at is that in the info along with 3.42 there was no mention of network functionality changes at all, but they definatly did change something for the better, sony release these updates with a list of new functions and such like, but i suspect they they change more than they let on to the average customer, and for the better most of the time too,

A complete newbie here. I just got a PS3 (slim version) that came with Firmware 3.50. I'd like to jailbreak it and understand that I would need Firmware 3.41 for that, but I don't actually know what I should do, given I already have 3.50. I found the PSFreedom but it says I must have 3.41. What should I do?
Also, I installed the Netflix app. Will going back to 3.41 kill the Netflix app, or can I continue streaming movies?

Dude i'm afraid you're out of luck...Where it might be possible to downgrade your firmware,for someone who 'accidently' updates his firmware i think it might be a little technically tedious...Enjoy buying your games from now :P

I can see from your email that you are unable to use a third party controller on your PS3.
I can confirm that after updating to firmware 3.50 the PS3 will no longer recognise non-official or unlicensed controllers via Bluetooth. We have taken the decision to make this change to further strengthen our position against unofficial pirated and unlicensed peripheral use.
The official PS3 controller will remain unaffected along with controllers made by RocketFish and Datel, both of whom are licensed by us to produce third party peripherals.
It should be noted though that all controllers will continue to work when connected to the console via a USB lead.

Actually it is a little sad, Sony used to be decent company (many years ago) but now they have turned into really greedy bastards and I don't mean just the PS3, but with other products too. This comes very apparent with their answer in the previous message!
