• PS3 Hacks, PSGroove , 03.09.2010

The first successful port of the PSGroove has been released by KaKaRoTo, known as PSPFreedom, for the N900 devices!

    Instructions:

So here’s how it works.. download the .tar.gz, extract it, copy the files to your n900 (with scp, into /root), then ssh into your N900 and type : ./psfreedom-enable.sh

Then you can follow the usual procedure, unplug the PS3 from power, plug in the N900, connect the power to the PS3, then press power and *quickly* press the eject button… Then just let the magic happen!

Once you’re done or want to revert back to the normal operation mode of the N900 (or to charge it) run the command ./psfreedom-disable.sh

In the future, we’ll have a nice package to install, a GUI application, I’ll make use of the LEDs to show you the status of what it’s doing, and i’ll have it auto-revert to mass storage mode, so you can use your N900 not only to enable homebrew but also to store your homebrew!

    See you tomorrow! Good night!

    KaKaRoTo

No doubt someone will be working away to port it for the iPhone and psp etc. but they're not blagging away about it.

Well done to KaKaRoTo for the first port. I hope to see a PSP port soon as I've just fished mine out from the dark corner of my wardrobe

i think it is great that he ported it but he is a scumbag. he is extorting people into donating to him. telling people that only the ones that donate will be beta testers. trying to make money off of what mathieu and his team worked hard to release to the public for free. what a ******. also, now he is trying to get people with iphones and itouches to donate so he can buy one and work on a port for that. the dude is an *******, for lack of a better word.

I say leave him to it. If people are happy/dumb enough to waste there money donating it to a guy to get into a beta that's fine by me.

At the end of the day, if we were not to donate to him and he decides not to develop a port, someone else will.

It won't run on symbian s60 5th devices like 5800 xm.
This port is for maemo (Debian Linux distribution) only.

I think we'll have to wait.

Couple of questions since the info on the thread is limited.

What firmware must my ps3 be on.

Any way to test if it worked if I don't have any backup game yet??? eg will backup manager install on ps3 with this method.

I'm just wondering is it "ported" to work with the Nokia N900 Hardware?

Or is it "ported" to work with the N900's OS Maemo 5?

If its just OS based then technically any device with a USB an Maemo 5 Flashed on it could work.

I dont know if it would work but it might be worth looking into.

Porting is great and all, and so far it's working on the teensy at90usbkey at90usb162

but has n e one tried it on these?
      # AT90USB646
      # AT90USB647
      # AT90USB1286
      # AT90USB1287
      # ATMEGA32U4

from the psgroove site these are also chipsets that will work with the hex files. and some of these are still on the market. ~_^!

so has n e one tested these? are they working?

Many factors go into making a port, most people have day jobs as well. Im sure their 1st priority isnt making a port for every newb who posts on here begging for a port for their specific phone.

      Amen! brother.

Have some freakin patience Newbs. Stop trying to argue about what isn't being done or why it can't be done. If you're so up in arms, you get behind a terminal and program it urself.

Instead of crying and whining, about what isn't being done, instead do something constructive like talk about what can be done!

I've done my own legwork, I'm not that experienced, but I have found places online that still sell the chipsests necessary. I'm going to flash it myself, and I thank all the experienced staff and hax0rs here who have put in all their hard work into making this possible.

If you have nothing useful or productive to say! STFU!

Copy the files to N900 mass storage or sd card with computer.
Use FileBox N900 App and copy the files to root. (activate Enable root acces in FileBox settings, without it you cant copy the files to root)

      In x terminal write :

      root
      chmod +x *.sh
./psfreedom-enable.sh (only once time ,it fixed the permission denied)

next time you can write :

      root
      ./psfreedom-enable.sh

no need to call him stupid, he wasn't directly attacking you. You are correct this was probably the phone he owned and since it had the correct drivers and was linux based it made for a good port.

To the man 2 above this post, no port is stupid. Any port of this exploit should be treated as a gift. More ports will come for many more devices in time.Until then get a board and clone the jailbreak, if you can find one.
