This has to be the funniest port of them all. The PSGroove apparently has been ported to the TI-84+/SE calculators according to brandonlwilson’s twitter.

    To quote:

IT WORKS. Pull out your calculators, kids, because the PS3 jailbreak is coming to the 84+/SE! Video, source code, and release coming soon!

We will keep you updated when its released.

Ti-83+ doesn't have a USB port so I'd assume it wouldn't work. Dunno if the other port could be used or not.

This is awesome, I never would've expected my calculator could be used to hack my PS3.

at this point, i should be able to print code...ball it up, throw said balled up piece of paper at my ps 3, and push power, eject and just watch my port go. lol. this is a funny port. so much for being unhackable for so long. all of a sudden, its easier to get ur ps3 done than ur 360 jtag'd.

He said on his Twitter that rumor has it that a PSP port may not be possible. The apparent reasoning is that you can't change the device address on it.

Don't know his source or if we can take his word for it but I guess time will tell. Until then I'll be digging out my TI-84+ and scavenging some AAA batteries...

do what i do. i am going to wait til everything gets settled down. i'm either going to buy a clone (should be relatively cheap, since ive already got a ck3 and chips for my old xbox's...bout 50 bux). If a port come's out for something i own, then i'll try it. so for now, im headed to encore beach club on the las vegas strip and gonna party down with some of my ****tail waitresses to a couple bottles of vodka and girls in two pieces! just let it all develop. things are moving incredibly fast after the open source came out. I'm in awe, cuz the 360 didnt go this quick...had to wait a while for new fw's and also jtagging was a pain...mostly cuz of finding a 360 that filled the specs. this is an easy exploit, a fkn calculator can do it????? u should be able to get a clone pretty cheap! nothing like a usb clone u can take to ur friends house with ur hdd and have a good time with a few micro brews!

@Kamisama: No this won't work with an emulator of the calculator since this needs the USB port and the TI-84+ emus don't send any info over your computers USB port. Either gonna have to buy a clone, a new phone, or this calc if you want it cheaper than PSJailbreak.

Actually I went there and it wasn't clear which of the many cables they sell are used.
Also my english isn't perfect and maybe I just didn't understand the informations correctly.

So please, people who already have the TI 84 plus SE can you tell me what kind of USB port it uses ? (From the website it appears to be either mini-B (which would be great) or mini-A (which I absolutely never heard of before).
I don't know which one it is because they sell both for the TI 84 plus family …

I'm not up on the names of these new fandangled usb connectors, but the TI84+ SE uses the same cable as your ps3 controller. I know because I just had to hook my TI84 up to my ps3 just to get used to the idea of using it for homebrew on my ps3.

      EDIT:

I would assume the TI84+ is exactly the same as the SE version. As far as I know, SE only stands for Silver Edition (its on the top of my calculator), and the only difference is that it is a gray color, in stead of the black standard TI84+.

On a side note, the atmosphere around all the homebrew websites have really gotten me excited. I don't think I've been this excited since the good ol' days of the psp hacking scene.

The source is included, it may be just a matter of hacking the source code file (descriptor i think was the one that was altered in the PSGroove one) so maybe thats all that has to be altered...I hope so, I mean until other home-brew actually gets ported, thats really the only purpose of it right now is Backup Manager package LOL

As of right now, this port does not allow you to play backups. We can wait or we can go ahead and learn how to program. If it is just like PSgroove, then only the descriptor file needs to be changed, but by someone who knows what he is doing.

@fandr78 it's not really that you can't it's just the author doesn't want you to.
Just like the original release of PSGroove the ability to run backups is just disabled by the developer.
It shouldn't be too hard to implement … I would have done it if only I knew anything about TI-84 + programming.

This won't work on the ti-89

copy and pasted from the source webpage of the ti-84 port,
Can this be ported to the TI-89 Titanium?
Theoretically, yes. However, the TI-89 Titanium has a Motorola 68K processor (as opposed to a Zilog Z80), so this application can't work on it (and I don't have the knowledge to code it). The TI-89 Titanium's USB controller is also not understood at all, even less than the TI-84 Plus/Silver Edition.

Put the jailbreak on your calculator.
Download the backup manager here: http://www.ps3-hacks.com/file/84
Put the backup manager pkg onto a flash drive, thumb drive, usb hard drive, etc.

      Run the jailbreak.
Plug your usb drive into the ps3.
Once the ps3 boots up, if the jailbreak worked you will have an option under the game menu called install packages.
Select this and install the backup manager package.

      Now you can backup games.

IDK if you can play them. I'm backing up a game right now.

I'll try to do it as soon as I can (although as I don't have the calculator yet I wont be able to test it myself).
If someone knows how to compile the source files I'd be happy to share my already modified files

      Ok,

So I am running 3.15. When I use the exploit, if it loads successfully (I think) the PS3 does not finish the boot. It stays hung on the black screen before it boots. I would rather not update if I don't have to (like having the option to install Linux, should something compel me to). Has anyone else made this work with 3.15? If not, what is the current system menu, and will this work if I update to the newest OS via the online auto option?

      Thanks,

It does not work on any firmware except 3.41 ATM. If your going to update, do NOT use the auto update as a new firmware update has been released that patches this.

Okay, I got the PS3 to recognize the TI-84 and I even got the backup manager installed but when I run the backup manager it takes me back to the PS3 opening splash screen and returns an error message. I think the error code's 80210007. I have tried multiple times w/ the same message.

      Ok,

I've never updated any other way. How do I update to 3.41 WITHOUT doing automatically/online?

      Thanks,
      RisnDevil

By default backups are disabled, you'll need to compile an edited version yourself.

Ahhh...that's what I was thinking as I posted that. So nobody has figured out how to enable it yet? Only a matter of time I suppose.

Alright. I got backup manager to work...BIG problem now. HDMI doesn't work. Only composite/component!! Does this also plague other ports?

Thats what was happening to me, you need to make sure your PS3 is updated to 3.41. Check the link I posted above. You can save to USB and manually update ur PS3.

Alrighty. All the download links are on the pages.
Here is the backup manager I am using: http://digiex.net/downloads/download...nager-pkg.html

And here is the jailbreak I used for my calculator: http://twitter.com/GNSPS

Also, is the modified TI-84 jailbreak necessary? It seemed to work on the original. However I am unable to actually play backups.

Is it worth mentioning that the ti-84 descriptors.asm is missing "port 6"(device 6); that is in the first patch descriptor.h file for Teensy?

I am noticing a few discrepancies in the way that the ti84 was written. I'm a total newb when it comes to reading code but I'm seeing some type of sequence out of order in the ti 84. n e one care to help me out?
