Now this is very interesting news that can possible render all other ports being working on quite useless. The folks over at Elotrolado have started on working on trying to get PSGroove ported to the Sixaxis/Dualshock3.
To quote:
*The SIXAXIS control has a memory eeprom what its programming allows. (BoRJa_FiesTeRo Thanks)
*The name of the Micro ones is:
- TOSHIBA 15UM3EFG-001
- JAPAN0703EG1
- F0194ZA
Hopefully this is a port to be excited about, as everyone has a PS3 controller that wants to jailbreak their PS3.
You can catch up the the latest update over at their forums (its in Spanish) – we will keep you updated here when something happens.

Would this render the controller useless while using it? If so, than would you still be able to use the controller when just using your ps3 as normal?

idk, they're talking about how the process would render the controller useless. I think we would be better off with other ports, and/or waiting untill all the stores are re-stocked with teensys and at90usbkey boards again. I think this method is actually better because that way you have a dedicated peripheral vs one that you need for other things, such as communicating with the outside world, or playing the video games and homebrew that the ps3 was hacked for. kinda renders it useless that way. lol
The reason they're saying that the controller is renedered useless is because the r-2 trigger during the operation, becomes moot. they don't specify.
They are also talking about other ports to other microcontrollers and even about an eventual live cd, They don't specify how that last one works. i think it's worth the wait.

the ultimate insult to sony........
next big news "sony removes controller functionality from ps3" LOL XD

Probably not because MATH fixed the problem with the kernel panic when the jig was disconnected, so i would assume that the controller would act as a jig just long enough , then it would revert back to a controller. an d plug it's self in :D

it seems the biggest problem will be how to flash it in the first place. if it needs stripping down and hardwiring to flash the option to use it after the exploit is completed is less of a reality
just because it has a usb doesnt mean it is flashable through it.
heres hoping though.

I have a usable but slightly damaged launch (no rumble) SIXAXE with the springs missing from L2 & R2 and a long wait for my Teensy. Bring it on!

AWESOME!
Can't wait to rape sony with their own tools.
Wait.. that sounds... ehm

this is so perfect for me having a disgruntled R+L triggers for my 6axis!!!i also hav psp if ever they cant port it with 6axis but this is better for me..

I see some point in this unlike the ports to iphone and all that, this is feasible, i actually remember the time when people were investigating the possiblity of the ps3 controller starting the jig LOLOL i guess it would be a reallity in a few days.

the only thing that is going to be left to do is to write "PWND" on the controller
poor sony rofll

Could be used just as a dongle, much easier to find then a teensy blackcat or at90, shouldnt run out of stock, theyre what $50?

My controller is an other chip

Toshiba
T6UN6EFG-002
JAPAN 0830EG1
F0397ZAK
So not all controllers are the same.
So i am very curious about the port

AHAHA Nice answer itdanger, well i have no need for this since my teensy++ and my blackcatUSB should be arriving this week probably wednesday or thursday, but if i hadn't i will surelly have my 3 controllers ripped apart XD

02:43 PM
how easy do you think this will be guys? and do you think this method will be better than using any other method?

02:45 PM
hey, if someone can get me the software to flahs my controller i will give it a try ive got like 3 lol

02:47 PM
we have no info, but apparently, it won't be for noobs, it will probably need some jtag and programing, it won't be through USB that is for sure!!!

02:49 PM
im not taking anything else apart until the time has come lol.
i took my psp apart to fix the joystick and now it has to be held together with sticky tape and blu-tac.
me + screwdriver x alcohol = epic fail

I am serious lookin my eyes out of all the port ideas.
But only now there is one real good working port.
Want to see iphone, android, controller sixaxis.

i have a ps2 pad in bits at the minute , not for the chip replacing the cable with a another 3rd party controller cable, but i also had the same idea building and programming my own jig stick, i have to be honest i like the diy feel of this using $ony's pad for beating them at this little game
anyhow here's a picture (thanks google)

and some info on the BU6370K

i am posting this because you can pick the ps2 Dualshock2 up for pocket change..
i apologize if its useless info..

Don't expect an ipod port, and the psp port is harder that what they thought, as i said before.
this can be read in mathiuelh twitter.

04:54 PM
Thanks pockets, but no one will listen. If I hear iphone or droid one more time I'm going to get sick. Ports will come. Be happy if a new port releases even if it is for a device you do not own. The more ports out, the more of a chance of it being ported to your device.

lol found a source for the boards, i dont think these are going to sell out

rip your controllet apart because ps move is coming out hahhahahaha
09-04-2010
06:06 PM
Imagine if PSGroove was ported to Playstation Move. Chances are sales would skyrocket and they wouldn't dare remove their Nintendo-killer functionality.

06:24 PM
OMG OMG OMG
Such a beautiful news! I hope they do it in a week or two. I'm so excited! ^^

06:32 PM
Once again bear in mind that if this mod ever comes out, this won't be like flashing a teensy board, it will probably be soldering some wires to the controller and flashing the eeprom no easy task for some people in here, if I hadn't order my teensy++ and my blackcatUSB i would be pre-heating my soldering iron XD
09-04-2010
06:36 PM
I'm not bad with soldering, but I dont really wanna physically modify my controller. Hope that you are wrong, Pockets. Or else, I'm really gonna have to empty my pockets to buy a teensy. ^^
09-04-2010
06:43 PM
you better think about empty your pockets then, as you said you wont mod your controller so your best option for now is a teensy or a blackcat.
even the ports, are becoming harder than what we first thought, mathieulh twiited about the impossibility of having a ipod/iphone port, because darwin is not open source, he also said that the more he looks at the psp the harder it is trying to port psgroove. we only have one successful port for the n900
09-04-2010
06:47 PM
Be quiet, doombringer! O_O
j/k. We'll see... Jailbreak is still young. Let the baby grow.
09-04-2010
06:53 PM
They said the controller might be modified without having to solder as the leds light up if you plug it in via usb without the battery attached to it so they think the connections go all the way thru
09-04-2010
08:06 PM
we could dump the pad firmware, then reflash with psgroove, then when the mod is done, reflash back to the normal ps3 pad firmware that the ps3 recognises :D
09-04-2010
11:10 PM
This is fantastic. I hope you can develop.
09-05-2010
04:44 PM
If this ends up being done, ill do it on my ps3
oh the irony!!

07:01 PM
Wondering would this beable to work with all those 'pirated' ps3 controllers sold on ebay? can't remember how closely matched the components where, might go dig it out and see.
09-05-2010
07:03 PM
Don't know, we don't know if it works on original controlers, and the pirated ones shouldn't be working either cheaper hardware means different hardware
