PSX-Scene user dimmudroid, has announced today that he has been working on a PSP emulator for the PS3. His work is still a “work in progress” but we will keep you updated on the latest information as it is available.

I’d like to announce a project i’ve been working on, PS3P. Basically it’s the ability to load PSP games on PS3.
As you may know, the PS3 can play PSP Minis, which are installed just like any other package. And most PSP games have nearly identical structures and files as PS3 games.
Thus far I’ve been able to achieve a few steps in the right direction, but I’m not ready to share my work just yet. I’ve been working on this in my free time (aka outside of work and family) and it will be done when it’s done.

I've dreamed of playing my PSP with my PS3 for so long. I think Sony should have made it where you plug the PSP to the PS3 so you can play the game on screen... but of course this is way better. Keep up the good work man!
So who wants to go destroy his workplace and kill off his family so he has more time to do this? JUST KIDDING!

debug ps3 firmware has a built in psp emulator, it hasnt been released in retail firmware yet, but this topic i already mentioned a few weeks ago..... if we can port over debug options to retail via psgroove/psjb then i dont see it being that hard to get teh psp emu ported too

yup i heard that too. hopefully it will run just as well on the ps3 as it does on the psp. i heard from a friend of mine, that it could be possible to port the debug firmware on to the retail, via the jig
but booting into recovery, then flashing the firmware that way. Could well brick it though, as debug's have different hardware than retails.

ok not to be unappreciative or anything but I'm starting to think that (to me) PSN is more important than these hacks and homebrews coming out im not impacient but I'm starting to get Home sick, pun intended, I want to murder people on MW2 awwwwww the anxiety. dont feel bad about the PSN, from what i keep reading you might have to have 2 hdd's to switch from legit to exploited. so there seems to be a way. plus u never know what else theyre gonna figure out, out there. dont upgrade

Did everyone look at yout PS3 Flash?
When I look there I see folders named:
-ps1emu
-ps2emu
-pspemu
I have downloaded them to my PC, so I can share them if needed

I have my PS3 (retails) in jailbreak and could not upgrade to 3.42 firmware.
when i dont use the jailbreak than i can use fw 3.42.
But when my ps3 is in jailbreak modus then i can downgrade to Debug Firmware.
It does not matter which debug fw 2.20 up to 3.21.
i have read that in debug firmware 3.15 there is psp emu ???

For all I know, the debug firmwares only work on real debug PS3's, not retails.
Also downgrading to a lower firmware was never possible (on a retail PS3), even with Jailbreak (at least not yet).
If you updated your PS3 to 3.42 there is no way you can 'downgrade' again, a part of the 3.42 FW is located on the flash of the PS3, so switching a HDD which wasn't 3.42 FW yet will automatically be updated to 3.42 (as far as I know), otherwise a lot of people would just have a switch between 2 HDD's, with one on 3.15 and the other on the latest..
