Despite saying he was leaving, Hermes has updated his v4 release with a small modification which fixes a problem Window users were having.

    To quote:
    NOTE:

4B raw2payload includes a correction for those who use Windows and fixes a stupid mistake I made by copying the files, because the port1_config_descriptor.h port1_config_descriptor.bin and are in fact the V3 version.

If you compiled the .S, have the V4 and if not .. as well, sorry for the failure! [drunk]

    v4B Changes:

raw2payload: changed in fopen “r” and “w” by “rb” and “wb”.

In MSDOS/WINDOWS “r” is for text files and “rb” is for binary files.
If you use MinGW from ifcaro compilers, instead Cygwin or Linux, you need this changes.

    Added port1_config_descriptor.h and port1_config_descriptor.bin from V4
(in the V4 release you have ONLY the .S file from V4)

i think this is not a new payloiad. It is hermes v4 with a bug fix in raw2payload.exe.
raw2payload.exe it's only to convert binary files to c header files when compiling the payload.
so there's no need to compile this.
But if someone ported hermes v4 without compiling port1_config_descriptor.S, now they should compile it again. As i made the port for arduino, i should say that i compiled port1_config_descriptor.S, so arduino port is the real hermes v4.

But anyway, i will compile this later for arduino.

Hi, I might be missing something, but two games which required a game disc in the past still refuse to load without a disc.

Batman Arkham Asylum and Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe still fail to boot. I am using the arduino port of v4 compiled by the very talented user ricardopvz (who posted directly before me!) and a precompiled version of OM 1.17.2. I even tried the same firmware with Gaia RC10.

      My method is:
      1) launch backup manager
      2) select game
      3) after boot back into xmb, select app_home/ps3_game (option above install)
      4) games do not load (the games mentioned above)

I've heard reports from other people that those games now do infact work discless. Am i doing something wrong?

Sorry my english is not strong for it is not my native tongue.

Try hermes v3 with update fix. I saw reports from other people saying that some games worked with v3 and now doesn't work with v4

I took your advice and tried psgroove-hermesvretailpkg-gameupdates (this is v3) but Batman and MKvsDC do not load.

I have never seen these two games boot discless yet with any of the older hermes payloads and older open managers. I am trying to track down the thread I was reading earlier in the morning saying specifically that Batman and MKvsDC work with the newest (v4) firmware.

Thanks for your suggestion ricardo, but I'm still stuck atm.

Hey Ricardopvz! I saw your v4b port on PS3Hacks and now Batman and MKvsDC are booting discless! Pardon me if I come to wrong conclusion, but I think this indicates that there is some more differences between v4 and v4b.

You are the best, thanks for your port!

      I am running:
      Hermes v4b
      Gaia rc10
      3.41 etc etc
