The folks over at Logic-Sunrise, have released screenshots of their WIP port of the FBANext emulator. This is not to be confused with the other Final Burn Alpha emulator we reported on earlier this week, this is being developed by seperate team. The team plans to have a public beta test in the near future, with the goal of it running at 1080p and 60fps.

    Loosely translated announcement below:
And now, the job development are continuous way, and it is now fifteen SPF obtained by running the CPS2 ROMS.

A first beta of FBAnext PS3 will be presented in a few weeks time to make the emulator playable, with a target of 60FPS in 1080p, like its counterpart 360.

Place the screenshots, and arm yourself with a little patience for the first release rears its nose.

    Gaia Manager v1.03

Gaia Manager is based off Open Manager and Sexy Manager. The difference? This one is packed with features not found anywhere else!

    How-to use:

You just need to put your game in /dev_hdd0/BDRIPS via FTP or BDRIPS in the root of a FAT32 formatted USB disk, you can change the games directory compiling with make WITH_GAMES_DIR=XXX. And your games cover (260×300) in GAMES_DIR/COVER.PNG, /dev_hdd0/BDCOVERS or BDCOVERS in the root of the USB disk that contains the game as TITLEID.PNG (for example BLES12345.PNG).

Often you will find a zip file that contains two Gaia Manager versions (*-BDRIPS.pkg and *-GAMEZ.pkg). The only difference is the directory where you have the games rips, BDRIPS or GAMEZ. I suggest to use the BDRIPS version, but if you want retrocompatibility with the original Backup Manager or with OpenBM you have to use the GAMEZ one.

    Features:
    - Supports up to 512 items from two USB devices, internal hdd and bluray

    - Ability to copy games from bdvd to hdd0 or USB’s, from hdd0 to USB’s or from USB’s to hdd0. It is done asking to you the destination device. It use uses asynchronous reading and writing for fast copy.

    - Special support for big files in FAT: it splits files >= 4GB using .666xx fragments (if the file is name.ext, the file splits as name.ext.66600, name.ext.66601,…). This file is not bootable and it is marked using ‘_’ as folder prefix. The file is joined when you copy it to hdd0 device.

    - Automatically finds the path of the games and asks to you about it. In other case, if the Gaia Manager is installed in the hdd0 creates one. You can change it pressing SELECT+START later.

    - Including checking game option (pressing R3). It displays information about the files, size, splits or big files, if it have one.

    - Support for Homebrew: you can creates “homebrew” folder in root USB FAT device and put here others folders with an EBOOT.BIN (.self format) and one ICON0.PNG. Also you can use the internal hdd0. Homebrew is launched directly and receive the path in argv[0].

    - FTP support to upload homebrew: Gaia Manager uses “GAIA01985″ as user, by default. I recommend flashfxp to use it, because FTP (Sony) support is not very good…

    - Supports Hermes v3 patching and disc-less playing. if you return from game list, apps_home can launch games without one disc (some games don’t work without any disc)

    Suppported Payloads:
To enable all features found in this app, you’ll need to use the following payloads:

    - PSGroove Hermes V4 from elotrolado
    - PSGroove Hermes V3 + Patch Waninkoko + 2 Fix Update Math from PSX-Scene.com
    - KaKaRoTo’s PSGroove fork with PL3 support.
    - PSFreedom with new pl3, such as psfMOD 0.9.6.0 or newer. Do not use dev payload

    WARNING
Direct Boot mode is unsupported! Use it at your own risk!
PL3 dev (peek & poke) payload is not supported and using it may crash your PS3.
Precompiled psgroove+pl3 versions often include dev payload, so use my builded hexes instead.
Do not report any bug involving Direct Boot nor PL3 dev! Thanks.

Old payloads still work but without all the features supported by Gaia Manager.

(Note: Direct boot does not work at the moment.)

    Change log for v1.03:

    - Fix permissions if directory has 0700 as file mode (on internal hard disk). it fix the ftp permission problem with PL3.

    - Increase max device number from 3 to 5.

    - Automatically modify PARAM.SFO to enable remote play in game. © FunzZy.

    - Added german language strings © evostar.

    - Add a better, transparent HIGHLIGHT.PNG (courtesy of klutsh).

    - Add a patch from weltall to get the system version instead of harcoding 3.41 (useful to play new games with old firmwares.

    - Add cleanup function to remove the list of the games played. That list is sent to Sony.

    - Updated French translation, thanks foX aCe.

    FCEU (NES Emulator)
    version: 1.2
runs on firmware: 3.41 & under
    posted on: 10/27/10

This is an NES emulator. Second to be released on the PS3. If you don’t know what an NES emulator is than you’ve been living under a rock.

Include are two pkg files. One for running on firmware 3.41, and the other for firmware 1.92

    CURRENTLY IMPLEMENTED FCEU FUNCTIONS:
    - .zip support
    - SRAM support
    - State save
    - 4P Support
    - Settings saving and loading

    CONTROLS IN ROM MENU:
    Up – Go up
    Down – Go down
Left – Go back five file entries
Right – Go forward five file entries
L1 – Go back one page
R1 – Go forward one page

Cross – (If directory selected) enter directory/ (if ROM selected) start ROM
    Triangle – Same as Cross
Circle – (If not in root directory) Go back to previous directory
L2 + R2 – (If you previously exited a ROM) return to game
Select – Go to settings menu (see ‘CONTROLS IN SETTINGS MENU’ section)

    L2+L3 – State Load
    R2+R3 – State Save

    CONTROLS IN SETTINGS MENU:
Up – Go up one setting
Down – Go down one setting
Left – Change setting to the left
Right – Change setting to the right

Circle – Go back to ROM menu

    EXPLANATION OF SETTINGS MENU:
Display framerate – This will show the FPS (Frames Per Second) onscreen
Current save state slot – Toggle FCEU save state slot.
Resolution – Switch between resolutions – 480p mode, 720p mode and 1080p mode (depending on your monitor’s supported resolutions)
Aspect Ratio – Switch between aspect ratios 4:3 and 16:10 (16:9 will come shortly, for now choose 16:10 on widescreen – perhaps small
    cutoff at left and right))
Hardware Filtering – Switch between Linear interpolation (Bilinear filtering) and Point filtering.
Control Style – Switch between original NES style or the more preferred SNES style.

    CONTROLS IN-GAME:
Standard NES Controls (layout identical to NES controller)
Better NES Controls (rotates input changing Square->B, Cross->A)

R3 + L3 – Press these two buttons together while in-game to go back to the ROM browser menu.

Right analog left / right – Adjust save state on the fly.

R3 + L3 – Press these two buttons together while in-game to go back to the ROM browser menu.

TIP: You can use any USB controller you like and it will map the buttons on the fly – it is even possible to hotswap joysticks – remove one from the
USB port, replace it with another one – it should all work fine. even SNES-to-USB converters
    should work.

To play a game with a USB controller as Player 1, start up your PS3 and rather than using the Sixaxis/DualShock3, plug in an USB port before
connecting the controller to the PS3 – your USB pad should then become Controller 1.

    HD TV USERS:
    - For people running this on HDTVs complaining about input lag:
    - Turn off all post-processing filters you may have running – on Sony Bravia HDTVs, display Motion Flow (this also causes input lags
with most games in general, not just this SNES emu. If your HDTV has a ‘Game’ mode or something of the sort, select that as well.

    PERFORMANCE NOTES:
    - 100% everywhere, let me know otherwise.

    PLANNED IMPROVEMENTS:
    - Filters
    - GameGenie

If you have been following the PS3/PSP hacking scene for anytime you most likely have heard of the endless rumors of the PSP phone, well it seems that the PSP phone has finally been revealed via Engadget. The picture you see above is indeed the new Playstation Phone…its still a prototype so asthetically its not done, but you can get a general idea of what it will look like.

    To quote:

It’s hard to believe that what we’re looking at is real — but we assure you, the picture above is in fact the PlayStation Phone you’ve long been waiting for. As we reported back in August, the device you see is headed into the market soon, likely boasting Android 3.0 (aka Gingerbread), along with a custom Sony Marketplace which will allow you to purchase and download games designed for the new platform. The device snapped up top (and in our gallery below) is sporting a 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8655 (a chip similar to the one found in the G2, but 200MHz faster), 512MB of RAM, 1GB of ROM, and the screen is in the range of 3.7 to 4.1 inches. Looking almost identical to the mockup we hit you with this summer, the handset does indeed have a long touchpad in the center which is apparently multitouch, and you can see in the photos that it’s still bearing those familiar PlayStation shoulder buttons. For Sony buffs, you’ll be interested to know that there’s no Memory Stick slot here, but there is support for microSD cards.

The particular model in these shots is still in prototyping mode. As such, the unit doesn’t have a custom skin (not even SE’s Timescape design seen on the Xperia devices), and is said to be rather buggy. We’re digging into more facts as we speak, but it’s likely that much of what we reported earlier is still accurate, and though the device could still be headed for a 2010 release, 2011 is looking much more realistic. Still, there’s a lot of time between now and the holidays… so keep your fingers crossed!

You can see the rest of the screen shots via source below:

Got an email today about a multi-platform PS3 game update finder that runs via JAVA. This is quite similar to NZHawks Update Finder, except it runs on java (hence Mac, Linux, Windows).

    To quote:
With the emergence of Web and Windows applications  for  PS3 game updates. I decided to create a Java application that gives the three operating systems Linux, Windows and Mac

This application is in beta, but already available for download.

    About the application:
    -     The game ID can be uppercase to lowercase.
    -     You can choose to connect using http or https protocols.
    -     Multi language is still being developed.
    -     Whenever a new search is made the previous results is automatically deleted.
    -  The user can choose between http or https

    Instructions:
You must unzip the entire zip file contents to a folder and run the file Game_Update.jar. If you just unzip the Game_Update.jar, the application will not work because the folder of java libraries is necessary.

This application is based on Brewology PS3 Update Finder v0.07  and  NZHawk’s Awesome Update Finder.

The source code will be available when i finish the multi language and add functionality to download without having copy paste the url address.

OK I’m back again with one of my simple apps. Im lazy and i like one button solutions. i have created a new loader based on Hermes loader. its does every almost the same but you don’t have to go through the extra step of putting the bins on the USB and opening any Game Manger.

I also added a check to make sure you are running a payload that will work.

And want to say sorry now to the ps3hax guys that made the image i used as a icon again i am lazy.

And please remember this is still a beta.

I will be releasing the code shortly as right now i need more time to clean it up.

Marcan seems to be becoming quite the figure in the PS3 hacking scene. He has posted today on his twitter proof that he has managed to get 3D RSX to work on the PS3 via AsbestOS. Very exciting news indeed. You can see the picture he posted below (click to enlarge):

proof that RSX 3D works, time to pester the nouveau guys to figure out how we can use it sanely :)

Yep this means he has fully unlocked the PS3 RSX (aka GPU, aka graphics card), and now comes the part to figure how to use it.

It seems Hermes is still alive and kickin, this time he has released an app that loads AsbestOS from our USB boards (seems to be a work around for not having enough flash space)

Here I let the AsbestOS loader:

Version homebrew worked under psl1ght already compiled:

    http://mods.elotrolado.net/~hermes/p…ad_v4_apps.rar

    version not psl1ght:

    http://mods.elotrolado.net/~hermes/p…oad_hermes.rar

In order to compile asbestos.bin (that is included) it is needed compilers PS3, such as those that or ifcaro has precompiled (that is what I have used I) or those that generates ps3toolchain.

to asbestos_loader, is an application prototype that must be compiled and so you already know: you can use basic the sources of open to manager, you clear all the PPU_SRCS less main.cpp and you add syscall8.c, you put of TARGET asbestOS.elf, you clear all the PPU_LDLIBS and you leave emptinesses VPSHADER_SRCS and FPSHADER_SRCS.

The EBOOT.BIN that is generated next to the sources, can be sent from app_home when igniting the console, if in pendrive you add a folder in root “PS3_GAME”, inside you put the ICON0.PNG and valid PARAM.SFO (that you can adapt so that puts asbestOS and those things), you create a folder “USRDIR” and inside you put the EBOOT.BIN.

Also it can become of the following way: you create the folder inside “homebrew” in root of pendrive and another one of name “AsbestOS”, where you copy the EBOOT.BIN and the ICON0.PNG

In root of pendrive it is needed asbestos.bin (that are in the folder “asbestos_bin” of rar) and dtbImage-20101020.bin, kernel of Linux that you can unload here of http://marcansoft.com/transf/dtbImage-20101020.bin

With that you would have to see the pinguinos and all that: it is not possible to be gone beyond unless you can form servant TFTP, etc, but as concept sample, is worth.

The shipper uses the generic route “/dev_usb” reason why he does not agree that there are other devices FAT connected to the console.

PS: Please, that the people who do not know of these things, abstain to take part: Linux in PS3 at the moment, is but a curiosity that another thing, because it is in diapers. This that I put here is not but that a curiosity for some and others, perhaps it is a route easy of work to develop kernel in a device that in principle, is not preparation for it.

    Greetings

    Quick and dirty tutorial (english):

To make this work, you need these 2 files:
    Payload_4_apps- http://mods.elotrolado.net/~hermes/p…ad_v4_apps.rar
    DTB Image- http://marcansoft.com/transf/dtbImage-20101020.bin

After you have extracted DTB Image, copy the kernel (dtbImage-20101020.bin) to the root of your flash drive.

Then extract Payload_4_Apps. Create a folder called “HOMEBREW” on the root of the flash drive, and a folder called “ASBESTOS” inside of it. Then copy “EBOOT.bin” and “ICON0.PNG” from “payload_4_apps > homebrew > AsbestOS” to the “HOMEBREW > ASBESTOS ” folder on your flash drive.

Load up Hermes’ payload and run Open Manager. Go to the Homebrew launcher (Press START) and launch AsbestOS.

There you go. It’s not much right now, but if you set up a TFTP server you can run a lot of Terminal commands.
