Spanish Ps3 Dev Hermes, seems to have left the PS3 scene, due to a PS Jailbreak clone, using his name, it dosnt only use his name, but also uses the name PSGroove, a quote from PSX-Scene.
The now famous Spanish hacker from Elotrolado has decided to quit the “scene”!

I totally agree with Hermes. Everyone wants to take advantage of the work of a few. Thanks to him many of us have the opportunity to exploit our consoles to 100%. I see that more as an honor...they use his code, so they give him credit for it by putting his name on the side. It is just a generic key...it says PS groove because it comes pre-loaded with PS groove, and it says Hermes because it comes pre loaded with hermes, and it says AT162 because that is the chip used. Yeah...they are scum to be selling the work of others, but scumbags selling the open source work of others is nothing new.

The only positive thing about this is that it gives complete noobs all the functionality that the homebrewers already have obtained. In that case, it should be sold at no more than the cost of the stick and the postage. Otherwise yeah, they are just ripping off Hermes and his code to make a profit. Nothing new, nothing honorable, but still a means for ppl with NO computer literacy whatsoever to gain homebrew functionality.

As much as I appreciate the work Hermes has done for the scene, it seems that he is using this clone as an easy excuse to disappear from the scene. If you want to stop contributing, that's fine, but to whine about someone using a name which doesn't even belong to you? It seems too ridiculous to be true.

Reminds me of the CPS3 emulation thing (ie street fighter 3 emulation in MAME)... someone started selling pirate CPS3 emulation boards and listed the original MAME developers email as a "support" address for bugs and such. Suffice to say the MAME developer quit.

I looked at the source and all I could find was the name 'Hermes'. The name just happens to belong to this dude who's a deity in the Greek pantheon. If you just do a search you will find that the name is used by many, by thousands, probably, if not tens of thousands, since Hermes is a god of commerce within the Greek pantheon, but they also believed him to possess other desirable qualities.
I have really found no claim to the extent that the hacker in question is in any way affiliated with the folks manufacturing the thing and I also checked their website, on top of the site selling their sticks. In fact, I did a ctrl + f search for Hermes to see the context it appears in. I don't understand what you people are agonising over spouting moralistic nonsense here. If indeed Hermes quit, he did so not because of these dudes, but because of his fragile ego.
