As you may already know, hard drives formatted as FAT32 file system has a 4GB file size limit. Therefore, if you have any PS3 games that cannot be transferred onto, say an external hard drive that is formatted as FAT32, this little handy utility called PS3Splitter will help you split those large PS3 games. Files that are split are compatible with the Gaia Manager.

Cubicle Shooter is a homebrew game developed by thatotherdev. The objective of the game is to shot these cube workers.

    Changelog for v0.6:

    • Added two-player mode (split-screen play)
    • Take screenshots (saved to USB storage devices)
    • Bug fixes

Yet another updated version of Cubicle Shooter.

    Notable changes:
I believe I’ve corrected what was causing the previous version to crash for a lot of people.
Added two player split screen multiplayer
    Added a menu system
Added the ability to record a screenshot (its saved to any USB storage device that is connected)
Chairs can be shot now (they don’t break but they get pushed back)
Added computers (they are treated similarly to how chairs are treated)
Now you shoot when you first press R1 regardless of how much or little time has gone since you last shot (so you can shoot faster by quickly tapping R1 then you do from just holding it down)
Jumping now only happens when you first press X (holding it down wont make you repeatedly jump every time you hit the ground)
I removed the triangle for reverse view thing

    Controls:
    Move – Left analog stick
    Run – L3
    Aim – Right analog stick
    Shoot – R1
    Zoom – L1
    Jump – X
    Save – Select
    Load – Start

greg, the admin of ps3-hacks.com, has offered a $500 reward, for anyone who is able release an open source version of PS Downgrade, here is a quote from the source:

I know many of you out there are just dying to hack your PS3, but unfortunately you’re sitting at firmware 3.42 or 3.50, right? Now if you have a few extra bucks to blow then no biggie — buy the PS Jailbreak device and PS Downgrade software — you’re set. But lets say you’d rather save your money for something cooler, or better yet, you possess mad skills and want to pocket some extra duckets to take your girlfriend somewhere nice, well here’s your chance to shine… Be the first to deliver us (Dashhacks) a working open-source solution of PS Downgrade and we’ll give you $500 USD (via PayPal).

We have some files that may help get you started:

    1. PS Downgrade Files: contains a modified 3.41 PUP file, Lv2diag.self.1 (used to flash the PUP), Lv2diag.self.2 (takes the console out of factory/service mode after the fact), PS Updater (the software used to flash the PS Jailbreak device), and an FLA file specific to my PS Jailbreak (this file is flashed to PS Jailbreak via PS Updater).
    2. Pendragon and Co. has dumped the USB traffic from PS Downgrade. You can find those data dumps right here. You’ll also need Beagle Data Center software to read/analyze ‘em.

If anyone else has/knows anything that may be of use in reverse engineering PS Downgrade, please share via the comments. Otherwise, if you’re the one who succeeds, we owe you $500 big ones and you can contact us via hacks@ps3-hacks.com. Any questions?

zAxis, of PSX-Scene has been working diligently on an open source version of psdowngrade known as “PSGRADE”. Today he shares his work with the public however it is not fully functional. As his code still requires the dongle master key which is buried under the PS3 console. The good news however s that zAxis can retrieve the key via 3.15 Firmware

He is asking the community, anyone with a 3.15 console, to help retrieve this key. Once retrieved, PSGrade should become fully functional. Below, is his request to the public.

To anyone who wants to help, here is what you have to do:
1- run the PSGrade I posted (just like jp)
2- reboot into linux (no power cycling!!)
3- dump HV (and post it)

if you dont know how to dump HV in linux, then google it (you will need to open your ps3 and solder it DONT DO IT IF YOU ARE NOT AN EXPERT!!!)

    Good Luck

once you get the key, post it in key.h and try it.

Please remember, this is a work in progress, nothing is working yet (so dont ask for hexes), and nothing is for sure.
    Good Luck

oh, and thanks to graf_chokolo for … everything, Hansi for the dump, and mathieulh for PSGroove (PSGrade is a derivative of PSGroove) and everyone else.
accorking to graf_chokolo, to get the ps3 to decrypte the master key, then you have to call “Verify Response” and the master key will saved in plain text. it is called when plugin a jig, and that is what PSGrade is.
once we have the key, we will have a working jig :-)
And no 3.41 is no good even if you have dump the HV

Download PSGrade (not yet fully functioning): https://github.com/zAxis/PSGrade

NZHawk and DarkHacker have made a small discovery regarding the PS3 organization of the XMB for jail broken PS3s.While they were experimenting with PARAM.SFO files they have discovered how place files/apps into various categories on the XMB screen. To achieve this all they needed to do was to change or a small modification to the category string in the PARAM.SFO except users and friend settings.Below NZHawk explains further.

Well I was talking to DarkHarker about param.sfo files and that. He asked me to try changing the CATAGORY string to ‘HM’ and see what it did.
It made the package install under the Playstation Network catagory on the XMB. DarkHacker and I then worked out the rest of the catagories that its possible to install and run hombrew applications to the xmb, and found them all except Users, Settings and Friends (which all seem to be filled with the xml files in the vsh flash folder).
    String Category
    HM Playstation Network
    CB Network
    HG Game
    AV Video
    AM Music
    AP Photo
    AT TV
I thought this was quite interesting, and would be great if we could add a Hombrew catagory to the xmb and make all hombrew apps install under it to make some hombrew standard, much like the wii has. (Also has anyone though about making a database of hombrew Title IDs to keep track?)
Oh, and its possible to change this location after install via application settings.

    Sconsole for ps3 by Scognito

PSL1GHT is a fantastic SDK, growing day after day thanks to help of talented developers like phiren, MattP, AerialX and others.
What I need to start porting Scogger is to print some debug information (like screen size, sprites information and such), but unfortunately for me STDOUT and STDERR are redirected to the lv2 TTY interface.
Right now there are two ways I know for printing debug informations:

I would say this is the strangest homebrew app available, French PSP/Wii/PS3 homebrew dev nOnAMEnO has gathered a compilation of Jochen Hippel’s music and made it into a homebrew app, here is a short history of Jochen Hippel for those of you wondering who he is.

Jochen Hippel(aka Mad Max) is a German musician, he created some of the music for games for Commodore Amiga and Atari ST, here are a few games he created music for:
    5th Gear
    Bad Cat
    Dugger
    The Last Ninja
    Spaceball
amongst a few others, check here for more information on Jochen Hippel.

As im not sure of the legality of this PKG, i will not link a download, but here is the

    SNES9X Emulator

version: Build 4.4.0 SNES9X is a Super Nintendo emulator for the PS3. If you exit a ROM with L3+R3, you can return back to the game while inside the ROM Browser menu by pressing

    L2+R2 simultaneously.

    CHANGELOG

    Build 4.4.1 (15-11-2010) – rev. number da152b168e
    ————————————————-
    * Added pixel shaders – select them in General Settings.
The following pixel shaders have been added:
    - Stock (Default shader)
    - 2xSaI
    - Blur
    - Curved CRT
    - HQ2x
    - Quad interpolation
    - Scanlines
    - Sharpen
    - Super2xSaI
    - SuperEagle
all but SuperEagle, Super2xSaI and Curved CRT run at fullspeed at 1080p 16:9 – the highest resolution. If a shader doesn’t run at fullspeed on that resolution, 720p resolution 16:9/4:3 will run it just fine at fullspeed.
    * PAL60 option works with 1.92 version
    * Added a ‘Force NTSC ROM to PAL’ option to SNES9x Settings

    snes9x-ps3-4.4.1-fw3.41 -
this is for people with firmware 3.41

    snes9x-ps3-4.4.1-576pdisabled-fw1.92 -
this is for people with firmware 1.92 AND if you’d rather default to 480p if you have a CRT TV

    snes9x-ps3-4.4.1-576penabled-fw1.92 -
this is for people with firmware 1.92 AND if you’d rather default to 576p if you have a CRT TV

    =========

    Build 4.4.0 (12-11-2010) – rev. number 0cb00f8c86

    ————————————————-

    * PAL issues are fixed at all resolutions – ghosting is gone

    * It’s now possible to run NTSC ROMs and PAL ROMs alike correctly at 576p PAL mode. When the setting ‘PAL60′ is set to ON, a trick will be applied to get NTSC ROMs to run correctly at 50Hz mode. If set to OFF, it will run PAL ROMs correctly. Even though PAL ROMs will play normally now at 480p/720p/1080p, 576p still seems to run PAL ROMs slightly better – but it’s probably unnoticeable to the user.

    * Cheatcode files can now be loaded and selected/enabled ingame. Note that all zSNES and SNES9x cheatcode files are supported – everything with the .CHT extension. You can also set a Cheatfile directory. If you don’t set a Cheatfile directory, the default will be USRDIR.

Cheatfiles must have the same filename as the ROM. Here is how selecting and enabling cheats works in-game:

    * Right analog stick – Left + L2 – Move cheat position back by one (-1)

    * Right analog stick – Right + L2 – Move cheat position forwards by one (+1)

    * Right analog stick – Up – Enable the currently selected cheat

    * Right analog stick – Down – Disable the currently selected cheat

Here are two links with some quite useful cheatfiles:

    https://code.google.com/p/snes9x-gx/…s.zip&can=2&q=

    http://zsnes.zophar.net/cht/

    ONLY FOR 1.92 USERS

    ———————

There still remains the issue that with the FW 1.92 versions you can’t switch the resolution easily – so I have had to resort to including two builds for 1.92 (just for the people who are running this on CRT TVs – the PS3 has this odd habit of picking as the best resolution exactly the resolution you do not want to use in the first place :P ).

snes9x-ps3-4.4.0-fw3.41.pkg – this is the one most people would want to use – for firmware 3.41 and up

snes9x-ps3-4.4.0-576penabled-fw1.92.pkg – 576p is enabled in PARAM.SFO – so if you’re running this on a CRT TV and your TV happens to be PAL, it will select 576p first and you’re stuck with that resolution basically because there is no resolution switching with the 1.92 version (this has never been possible even up to now – but I’m just mentioning it for the first time since it’s only now becoming an issue due to certain people using it on a CRT TV and getting stuck in PAL mode).

snes9x-ps3-4.4.0-576pdisabled-fw1.92.pkg – 576p is disabled in PARAM.SFO – so if you’re running this on a CRT TV – even if your TV happens to be PAL, it will select 480p and you will be stuck with that resolution basically because there is no resolution switching with the 1.92 version.

BTW, for all people using this on HDTVs – don’t worry about this long-winded explanation – it will automatically pick the best resolution for your TV with the 1.92 version. Resolution switching is possible with 3.41 so users with FW 3.41 get the best end of the deal at the moment until we figure out a way to be able to switch resolutions with 1.92.

While i was checking for updates to see if they made it dualboot w/ CE-X and KaKa PL3 I saw this:

    20101118-update-dev.rar(开源专用内核普通用户勿下)
Special matched core for open source

I knew it had gone opensource, the update notes are as follows for the latest update:

    Update 22:26 2010-11-18

sorry, we made a mistake. there are some problems in “20101116-update-.rar”, some users can not update from nand (TF is normal). If you have met this problem, please download “20101118-update.rar” to restore. After update, all the functions and update methods are the same as before, we suggest all customers update to this version.
☆Since this version, the firmware version NO. will be showed on the “USB Device”, for example, “P3GO USBDISK VO8”, the “08” is version NO.
☆“20101118-update-dev.rar” is the matched update files for the open-p3go, the normal users do need to download
    ☆SDK:
1.The maximum free memory space for the program is up to 5M Byte, if needs, it still can be expanded which can make you do not subject to the limitation of the memory.
2.More than 15M Byte SLC Nand Flash memory space for your usage, and it still can be expanded.
3.Reach up to 500M RISC CPU with SIMD
    4 USB2.0 High Speed
    5.Support MMC/SD read-write

This was the last update they actually made:

    Update 10:57 2010-11-12 (small update)

    ●more steady PAYLOAD
    ● update part of PSN code
●The default location of update file has been changed to NAND root directory, the update method has not been changed (Just like previously, use TF card to update,That is:
    1. Insert P3GO into the USB port,
    2. Copy “update.bin” into the root directory of U disk,
    3. Stop and pull out the P3GO,
    4. Insert P3GO into the USB port again, no need other actions, the update will be completed after the light Indicator flashes blue and red , it’s about 5 seconds)
●Add the newest 3.41 PSN activation crack under KaKaRoTo mode, that means insert TF card and enter into the KaKaRoTo mode, then you can connect to PSN. (Note: this function may cause console ban, so do it at your own risk. we do not update under HERMES firmware, because in the dual-firmware condition, it is better to have one more choice)
●Big thanks to Xoeo, he did a great job.

The 11/18/2010 Update now up there fixed a bug with the option to update it via it’s Internal Flash storage. The SDK and source for making update.bins is @

With the release of PSGroove, our server and site has just exploded with tons of new members every day, all actively posting and developing the now booming PS3 scene. However with the massive increase in user activity and traffic, PS3Hax.net has become sluggish and is in a dire need for a server upgrade. We won’t charge you for silly things such as “preimum accounts” to download files or read information, but we ask the community in return and donate so we can upgrade our servers. Even $1 from a few of you can help reach our goal :)

If you wish to donate you can view the donate bar HERE (it is updated every couple of hours with the most recent donations)

[Updated servers and no longer need donations, thanks everyone who helped!]

Well the most awaited game of the year is arriving, but as you guys already know there stores already have them and people break street dates!!
with this being said, a member of our forum blitz7287 has got his hands on copy early and with my help we have found that the game was compiled with 3.30 SDK.

    here is some quotes:

Hi sorry i didnt know where to post this but i have the game.

and i’ve ripped it but it wont boot so i thought id share these

to see if someone can help get it working it says it requires 3.50

lets start with the basics edit the Param.sfo to 3.30 or something and make sure you are using hermes v4b or another PL3 do not use the spoof one with the PSN.

im using the PL3 before the psn ability came out, and i’ve tried editing it to 3.30/3.41 and it doesnt work.

how do i look for which sdk it was made with?

    3420001 – for 3.42
    3500001 – for 3.50

i might have used a 0 or two than it was supposed, but is sumthing along those lines.

Its been made with SDK 3.30 im guessing as it found 3300001 straight away in the hex coding

So there you go folks, with a little bit of luck we might be figuring out in two or three days how to play this with our jailbroken Ps3, so much for delaying a game and then compiling it with 3.30!!
