Where do you get the downgrader files? Does the updater download them?

Posted this news about 12 hours ago in the "Jailbreak Team lowers prices - Rewards loyal customers" topic.
Too bad the V1.1 updater isn't working for me (and others). It downloads the fla file but when I try to flash nothing happens. The LED should become green but stays red/green so it isn't flashed. Also there is no modded pupfile in their download section?

And please don't start asking if my PSJB device is real. I know for 110% that it is the original.

You are right, I didn't make it a new thread. I wanted to wait to see first if all went well with the downgrade (and, as aspected, it didn't) before posting the real news. But the downgrader was about 12 hours ago available on their site, some hours later they mentioned it in their news section.

No point, only wanted to state that the news was a little old.

Well, I think everybody who was on 3.42 is now at 3.50 and 3.50 is beyond 3.42 so I don't see the problem with that. (If it was only that... )

why try to downgrade ? why not find a way to hack 3.50 ? or real fake 3.50 ?

anyways, i think this is not the right way for the future of the ps3hack...

the simple answer is that Sony disabled the option to get in the GameOS so there is only the factory mode and with factory mode we can only install other firmwares but not install homebrew like backup-managers. And that is what the downgrader does, it gets us in factory mode on 3.42 and higher so we can install the jailbroken 3.41 (and lower, but not jailbreakable with the PS Jailbreak because the lack of new payloads).

Maybe this is the way to install CFW later.

And for everybody complaining about the future of the jailbreak because they can't play 3.50 games. Please go to a gamers site. This is the homebrew and dev site. We have more joy in hacking, experimenting and developing for the PS3 then in gaming (and yes I like to game too ) Be happy the system is finally open en profit of the benefits, they are far better as the benefits of 3.50. If you really want to play 3.50 games, go to a friend and play it there and be happy with all the other games you can play on your open system.

This downgrader is probably better in the long run for this scene, as most of the new people fail to realise is, that the downgrader is able to write to dev_flash, which means ultimately, CFW :D Ive said this exact same comment in a few posts before, but i think it still applys now.

We will also get to play with Service Mode too.

At the moment, the scene isnt moving because the downgrader isnt available to all 44,000 customers, or however many there are.

Once it becomes opensource, and the dev's get their hands on it, we can then downgrade to version X.X or however low your fw was when you first got it, then we can look for exploits in the lower firwares, make tools like HellCats recovery flasher, really cool stuff like that. Perhaps port some cool programs from the PSP Scene.

It will take time to get to 3.50 CFW,(we may never even see that, although with cfw, we can take off the locks that sony have weilded on to the ps3...)

once we have our hands on the downgrader we could update to 3.50 play the games then revert back down to the hackable firmwares, so everyone will be happy

Then we can really blow this beast wide open :D

Thats just my 2 pennies. :D

downloading the update files is impossible at the moment because of to much traffic.
Well, the fla file I downloaded was 14k so I don't see what is making so much traffic, even if a couple of 1000 people download such a small file, if you have a professional hosting service it shouldn't be a problem I think.
Maybe it is possible they took the server offline because off a bug ? A reseller on another site says it is best to wait 2 days and try again ... Well, this time-line indicates a repair to me, not to much traffic.

hmm does this have to do with the error everytime i hit download updates?

i kno my jailbreak is real i get the serial number but this is rediculous

      error message

"The request channel timed out while waiting for a reply after 00:00:57.2328418. Increase the timeout value passed to the call to Request or increase the SendTimeout value on the Binding. The time allotted to this operation may have been a portion of a longer timeout."

Well, this sounds very promising.... So i think i'll take the bold step and update to 3.50, to get back online, with high hopes for a working downgrader.

Can i get some of your opinions, about wrether or not you guys think the PS Downgrader will be avalible for everyone and not just PSJailbreak users....

The first thing needed for an Open Source downgrader is a working original downgrader I think. and as the PSJB team improved their protection I think it will take some time before the devs can duplicate the process.

but for now we don't even have access to a working downgrader

lol the good thing tho oozic is that at least im not the only 1 getting this runtime error

and even before today and yestruday i downloaded the old update before this 1 does my jailbreak have to show all green when it updates cus it just stay red and green when i update i get my serial key and update but no green led it just stay red and green

Well, I did download the fla file just after the new updater was on their website so I already have the fla file for my dongle. but the problem is the lack of info.

So I don't know if the fla file is the only file the updater downloads. I know there is also a pup file needed and 2 LV2Diag.self files. But these files are only important for the downgrade process itself and not for the flashing of the dongle. But the updater program says at the "update now" tab "choose the files one by one" which indicates there has to be more than 1 file.

So this is why I tried to download again this evening but with the error and also that my coupon is no longer valid They did remove the coupon option but I get a coupon error....

and hmm after this update when i got my fla file and hit flash does my dongle have to do anything special or just stay there only showing green and red leds? cus it didnt do anything as soon as i hit flash and it says flash succeeded as promoted on ps upgrader

And i think by tomorrow they will fix this issue damn you updater

The flashing takes about ten seconds and the led has to change to green as far as I understand from a reseller.
For me it takes less than a second and the leds stay the way they are but the updater says it has succeeded.

Why is everyone talking like this is a "switch"?
Doesn't it take hours to backup your PS3, then hours to re-install everything?
(AFAIK, correct me if I'm misinformed)

Now this is great for people that updated by mistake or ones that really regret updating for one game. But I can't see myself going through all that just to play GT5 (or some other game) online and then doing it all again to use homebrew.

Again, an awesome step for the scene, but don't forget about the hoops you will have to jump through to up/downgrade.

Well, as there are now 3.50 machines spotted in the wild we can assume that most future PS3's to be sold are on this higher firmware(s). Now if your PS3 brickes and you buy a new one, wouldn't it be nice you can downgrade again to a FW Sony doesn't really want?

And for the formatting of the HD, we don't know if there will be a solution for that. Maybe it is possible to switch the HD's ...

      No hole for me

I know it for 110% sure it is the real one. It also makes the ps3 crash while removing it (the fake doesn't crash because of the newer payloads). and I got it from a very trustfull reseller here in the netherlands who had to stop selling any kind of jailbreak device. I think he got a letter from Sony. And it is also in the original transparant plastic box with white foam and the psjailbreak logo on the cover (no sticker but printed on the plastic)

ok, after reading a post on another site I had to test this and it seems right:

Opening the upgrader_xxxserialxxx.fla (15 bytes) with notepad the data in the file is "invalid request". Now this won't work for sure.

I got this upgrader file a few hours ago after the problems with their servers. Strange thing is the filename. Why did it download a upgrader fla while it download a prog fla first time.
I'll try one thing now. I rename the prog fla to updater.fla and see if that makes any difference. Don't think so because I don't think the name of the file makes any difference but I have to try.
      Edit: no difference ...

Check the size of the fla file. If it is 15 bytes just open it with notepad and you will see why it won't flash.
If it is 14k4 then there are files missing I think. Don't know for sure because info/support from psjb sucks really. But I think there is a prog_xxxserialxxx.fla and an updater_xxxserialxxx.fla needed and nobody has a valid updater_xxxserialxxx.fla.

I love how they say 3.50 and beyond. That is total BS as all Sony has to do is blow an efuse in the next update which im sure they will do like they did with FW 2.60. Then if you try to downgrade with the efuse blown it will result in a brick. Watch just like the xbox 360 blew them for the jtag hack making it impossible on newer kernels (aka xbox 360 equivilant to the PS3 FW)

changed the config file of ps upgrader for some testing. All time-outs settings from 1 to 5. After 2 tries (lucky or did changing the config help?) the upgrader started downloading and it seems I have the correct files (updater.fla 8 kb and prog.fla 14.4 kb) but no change in flashing so still "flash succesfull" in green letters within 1 second and red/green Led.

The fla that you can't read with notepad is encrypted. That is why you get the strange characters.
The upgrader_xxxserialxxx.fla has to be 8 kb. So if all goes well the upgrader downloads 14.4 Kb and 8 Kb.
Not that it works when you have those 2 correct files.

He -DJ-, did you get my PM?

Don't border with the config file (ps upgrader dir), there is a new 1.2 updater that downloads the files ok (did it 2 times this evening).
Problem is that this updater has more bugs for me. It gives me this message now: "device found and openedserial: xxxserialxxxcouldn't open fla file".

Don't know if we have to continue here or at the new thread somebody started about the V1.2 updater.

      Hi Guys,

I just bought PS3 320GB with GT5 Today, I have question if this downgrade software will work on it:

      http://www.osctime.com/modchip-jailbreak-p-627.html (is it original ?)

Question is if this downgrade update for that jailbreak chip is working and can I update to FW 3.5 to play GT5 ??? (I have original disc and I'd like to play Today ).

      Thanx in advance for answer.

Fake. Look at the hole at the end of the dongle. The original one doesn't have that. If you read this thread you can find a picture somewhere with the differences between this fake one and the original one.

On what firmware is your PS3 at this moment? If it is 3.42 then you can't jailbreak anymore and you can update to 3.50. If it is lower then 3.42 the jailbreak is possible.
But for now there is no Open Source downgrader and looking at the problems with the official downgrader it maybe can take a while before it arrives. So only the official downgrader can downgrade a PS3 for now (if that ever happens... (sarcasm))

This 1.2 upgrader was available more than 12 hours ago and we have been experimenting with it. This version doesn't even recognize the fla. Seems like the updater can't read directories with spaces in their name. So the fla files have to be on root. But even after recognition the updater won't flash.

I think they do this on purpose. They delayed their delivery to their resellers and because they don't want to give us a headstart over the new customers they mess it up for us too.

And how about a manual for flashing? Don't even know which file to flash first
so we have also a lack of information.

Logical, because that just gives you "Server Error
404 - File or directory not found.
The resource you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable." and cannot be used for flashing either (or for downloading malicious code for XML injection

but then again, anyone could have seen that in the EXE file with an HEX editor
