• PSJailbreak Updater Leaked?

    PS Jailbreak, PS3 Hacks, Rumour , 05.11.2010

    This updater was released to selected testers who own the original PSJailbreak USB dongle. You will need a genuine PSJailbreak USB dongle to get this to work. We don’t actually have a dongle to TEST this, but if you have an official PSJB dongle, please give it a try and let us know your results. According to reports over at PSX-Scene (linked below), this was an update for PS3 version 3.42/3.50. We have no confirmations yet about this, or if it even actually works, so this is being marked as a RUMOR and proceed at your OWN risk.

    Our USB Updater is finally here!!!

    This is just a rough version and the process for end users will be alot simpler.

    Step 1: Go to libusb and download and install the lib USB driver

    Step 2: Paste this link into your browser and download Updater: updater.zip

    Step 3: Unzip the file and run the program updater.exe

    Step 4: Plug in your psjailbreak USB unit and click the My Serial Number Button on the top left of the window

    Once this is done you will have to email us back your serial number from the same email account we sent you our email.

    We will then generate the files for each individual serial number and email you back the file to update your USB unit.

    Please remember that for end users, the lib USB driver will already be built in to the updater program and users updating files will automatically be generated after clicking the My Serial Number Button, so the process will be very simple.

    Please get back to us asap with your individual serial numbers.

      I've heard of people doing PSJailbreaks on their calculators or mobile phones. Can this be used for one of those as well, or is it this: http://psjailbreak.com/

      Does this mean we can update our ps3 to newestfirmware and hack it back with jailbreak and keep playing online?
      Or does it just downgrade the firmware.
      Or isn't this any big update just a regular update for firmware 3.41?

      For anyone that doesn't know, this is to update the payload on your USB dongle. Nothing to do with updating your PS3.. Yet!

      Seems like it's just like Flip, except that they try and have it updated with their verification to avoid it being cloned/leaked. Maybe this is why their releases are taking so long, they just wanna protect their work..

      The site linked in the updater.exe has a virus on it, the way this connects your pc would get the virus without your av flagging it up, check the url's in the file with a hex editor.

      I think this is either a very clever fake, or the psjb team have some explaining to do (the fact its looking for a .fla file to update with kinda suggests its fake >.<)


      Anyway, the report from my av follows,

      Ok, I copied the usb lib files to my system32 folder (Win7 X64) and when i want to get my serial "flasher_windows.exe" crashes with error code 0xc000007b.
      I'll try it on xp or vista x86 later.

      100% clean (tested with 43 different antiviruses). Unzipped and scanned with Antivir : clean.

      Edit : that means the download links are clean. But be careful of the link within the program.

      hello all,

      When i start upgrader.exe en click my S.no i get a windows message : libusb0.dll is not suitable for windows or contains a fault. ?

      anybody else had this problem ?

      Would this by any chance work with a usb dongle that actually is not upgradable but it still has an update button?...Just wondering because I own one that can't be upgraded and I was hoping somthing out there would be made that would somehow maybe trick it or force it to update with a fanmade thing such as this. Just wanted to check. Not exactly getting my hopes up.

      Fail of the admin to post a link to a virus, though I suppose the fault is his willingness to post any PS3 News he finds.

      As for everyone else, fail for not reading the comments, and for not having common sense.

      There is no USB Jailbreak for 3.42/3.50, there never will be without a new stack overflow using the USB, which is exactly what 3.42 fixed. If you even read the quoted text and read that it's for 3.42/3.50, you should already know it's fake.

      Also lol@the person who says a 3.50 jailbreak is coming within a week. Let's not forget it took close to 7 months to find the USB Jailbreak after GeoHot's exploit was released, the chances of finding ANOTHER exploit with the same method is nigh impossible considering the firmware addressed just that.

      Hello guys,

      I tried the tool, kaspersky reported no virus ... The tool did not work from first try I had to play with libusb0.dll (seems the dll included with the pack of psjailbreak team is for win x64). I sent my s/n and wait for a response, will let you know.

      Fail. We are aware it is a virus. You do not need to report the thread when it is clearly stated scans are picking up threats. I choose to leave it open to discuss this tool because there are multiple sources. It is stated as a virus, dont download it. The warning is in the thread. Read the post above mine, maybe people want to see if PSJB is actually doing something.

      jailbreak team reproted there dongles first they didnt hack the ps3 first real user that hacked it is geohot whole world knows this.

      dark alex will be stepping out the closet by apirl or may next year if scene sticks together hes watching the scene right now he not gonna jump in all sudden he doing all work everyone stealing his crap again.

      one dude cant do it all i dont blame him either geohot hacked ps3 or dark alex did not not team psjailbreak

      You are totally wrong here. In short words the usb dongle emulates a Sony Jig Module on usb6. Somehow somebody managed to 'get' one of these boards from a Sony servicecenter and that is how the party started. Rumors are that all that PSJB team did was buying and cloning this technology and only wrote the program backupmanager (with a Sony SDK so not legal). So this has nothing to do with Geohot (level one access to the Hypervisor, we have level two, the GameOS) and as I also own a PSP (fat 1000 from the start) I followed the PSP hacking Scene (I love the emulators ) and DA is smart enough not to make the same mistake again and will not enter the PS3 scene.
