Well it seems there is a rumor flying around (confirmed working read below), that accessing PSN is possible on Jailbroken consoles that have firmwares 3.15 and 3.41, using the PS3Yes Hex, here is a very badly translated quote from the source:

You don't need to wait till the source is released.
Use this to disasseble and reassemble for your board.
A bit harder with the N900 and calculators as it needs a driver.

You can sync your trophy info, play online with your originals, get new licenses for your PSN content if you've upgraded your hd, not to mention being able to get new stuff from PSN store, and keep your jailbreak capabilities.

Here is the original post that I can find. It's from a Chinese TV game forum. From what I can understand:
1. More than 20 ppl reported that this method can actually work.
2. The method is to simulate your "Retail" PS3 into a "Development" or "Debugging" PS3. You can use PSN for online combat. But you still have to pay to activate your DLC.
3. The author said it's based on PL3 but integrated with some codes from Hermes.
4. The author is "xoeo" . Let's say Xiexie to him.

People, people please lets use common sense here, only play online with the games you own and have disks for. Don't be going online with backups, especially with no disc mode. Sony is not stupid they will find a way to detect it and we will all lose in the end. Maybe just maybe if we use retail discs then it will slow them down and we can enjoy access longer. guys, i have tried flashing my ps3key, but FLIP doesnt recognize the board. if i use the proprietary software (pskey updater) it shows up fine. how can i re-flash my ps3key with the new hex so i can get online and DL my psn games? do you think un-installing the ps3key drivers and re-installing the FLIP ones will work? let me know, and i will keep trying.

dont even bother trying to force the hex files on a ps3key... the Atmel for ps3key (ATMEGA32U2) has propreitary FW that is for them. there is a way to flash the dongle, but the process is only one way and you will not have support from PS3key anymore. it sucks to say this, but your stuck waiting for ps3key to come out with an update unless you have a secondary dongle that you are willing to give up.

maybe im very stupid but i used a conveter to convert the hex to bin and i put it in the payload list on my iphone 3g then i tryed to launch the payload it works but the first time i tryed to log in psn the screen freezed and i had to reboot the system the second time it says i must do an update to login is there any working version for the iphone????

dammit... i have a ps3break 1.1 and it appears that they'll fix this s**t even before someone releases a compiled hex for this dongle.
Anyway, I guess all I wanted to do was update my trophies, don't care about other stuff to tell the truth.
Shame is that some guys used that trophy editor and I think they are probably uploading those, lol.. cheated and legit profiles will mix in the sony database and that's a big fail for the trophy system.

EDIT: Dont bother to play backups online, it dosnt load. i get errors. so play with disc, plannin to run some Battlefield bad company 2 now =)

1) pick psngroove- click on the circle on the left side
2) scroll down click on next
3) under "Use predefined Boards" select your board and than press build

5) than click on download psgroove.hex

okay now if they do ban, i read somewhere that they ban the mac address of the system. is this true or do the ban something like a console id? because if its just the mac address couldnt you in theory spoof that once banned? granted it would be a pain to spoof your mac every other day, but still would be worth it to play online. now if its a console id than no luck. lets just hope they dont do the bull**** microsoft did like disable features that have nothing to do with psn.

with original nba disc in the drive online it works with online play
with a different disc in the drive booting from oman it works online
and i havent tested with no disc cos i always have a disc in the drive (i see discless play as pointless for myself)

already got my hands on all the dlc ive missed out on over the months of jailbroken play, thought i would stock up before sony raped our psn usage and spent Ģ80 on the psn haha whos the idiot now ey sony... oh... wait...

Im sure most of the people making these stupid comments also have a hacked ps3, Therefore I believe they have no right to b*tch and moan at other people with hacked ps3s.
Ive used psgroove to hack my ps3 and Im currently using the PSN hex and backup managers so i can download my psn content aswell as playing my own backups online.
How does this make me a cheater or a pirate?

im almost sure that most sensible people have TWO or more PS3's by now. i have 4 atm, and I've been online and jailbroken since day one. Also, I downloaded Black Ops yesterday for my PC and am currently playing through the campaign mode, and also managed to hack the PC in the game and am having a blast playing DOA. I don't consider my actions pirating, because i have already ordered my copy of the game, it just hasn't showed up yet. (stupid super saver shipping)

PSN is By far cheater free!!! have you played socom confrontation. every other player on that game pretty much uses a lag switch. i stopped playing that game with all the switching and glitching that went on. sony needs an easy method to report lag switchers and cheaters and to give them bans whether temporary or permanent

If you're smart, you have one ps3 for hacks, and one for current games/ updates/ psn..

it tries to update its software to 1.40 and just reboots the machine. obviously ps home is checking to see if im on 3.50 and im not and it causes a reboot. is there no way around this? ive tried jailbroken and non jailbroken using this new hex.

So from what I have seen it isn't or won't be possible to "spoof" higher firmwares with 3.15? Even with the ability to spoof the firmware it seems most is aimed at "backups" and not PSN games.
A few of the PSN games I was finally able to download need 3.20 or 3.30, which means I can't use them since I'm still on 3.15. I've been trying to hold onto my 3.15, but I'd hate to miss the chance to get all my stuff in order while the hole is open.

That's a very good point, but there's also the whole argument of why just lie there and take it? I remember having to make the decision to update from Linux because this PS3 was mainly bought for PSN use, which was very irritating. When the JB was released I decided to hold out and see where it goes, glad I did.
We can't go the court route, since Sony will just destroy us with their legal team, unless Bunnie's case goes.
Considering for under €50 you'll have a fixable legit PS3, that makes use of the games + accessories you've paid for instead of them sitting idle I think it's a small price to pay.
It's like putting good money after bad, but I missed PSN too bad!

I was able to go online and play a legitimate copy of Bad Company 2 with no problems! I refuse to even try backups online but maybe the BlOps update patches some files, have you tried using ftp to copy the cracked files across to PS3 after the update? Just an idea.

i got that error 80710092 too but it went away and i can sign in now i was playing a back up of killzone 2 on the psn i thought i got ban but it only happen that one time

i played backup online yesterday.I signed out,...and this Morning,..i signed in....

Why couldn't we just figure out a way to patch backup manager to somehow show the title of the game(backup) being played, instead of LAUN12345 or OMAN45678? Seems to me if the PSN is looking for an actual game title, then that is what we need to show them. Possibly include any codes/numbers associated with said game.
