I just read the whole court order from GeoHotz page. Basically, Sony is suing them because they publicly released the codes to promote piracy. Almost the entire order is filled with "it will allow users to run pirated software."
Well here's a counter attack. GeoHotz and failoverfl0w both mentioned that their intentions are NOT to promote piracy, they don't supported. Their main reason to hack the PS3 system is to bring back Other OS. If their only purpose is to enable Other OS, Sony is screwed. That could be their defense. Because Other OS is an authorized software that was included in the PS3 itself before Sony removed it. It's like Apple removing the iPod function from the iPhone.
Also, when Geo created the CFW, he told publicly to Piraters, "Don't waste your time on this." here he is rejecting the activity of piracy.
In short words, Sony's attack is the spreading of piracy, but GeoHotz and other hackers defense is to regain the feature of OtherOS, and authorized feature from Sony.
I rest my case.

Nice counterattack from failoverflow. Sony is not going to accomplish anything in the fight against homebrew with these lawsuits. People will pick up where others left off.
The fact these lawsuits have come so fast just show how lost Sony is in trying to fix these security issues. Once their programmers were defeated they sent their lawyers into the battlefield.

Yeah, anyone can say FU sony but come on...every thread is dedicated to that. We just want to know what these are. I was suprised they were super small in size. I guess power comes in small packages. I would love to see a break down of what is possible with these tools. PS3 hax and every other PS3 hacking type website is getting bogged down with useless information. I just got done reading over at psxscene that If sony gets desperate or really pissed off...they could Disable all Ps3's making them useless online and offline. I guess they can find out if the system turns on or not and all types of creepy stuff. My question is...should I be worried? lol I'm thinking hmm...Maybe I should take the games I got on my hdd off to get the space back because I hehe got like 6 or so games on there taking up quite a bit. I'm thinking if they can find out about my system just by me turning on the system that kind of makes me a bit paranoid. I also read they could find out about backup managers running and stuff. Also being able to "force" updates onto us, and other stuff. Like that one member said...all that Geo and company were trying to do is get OtherOS back...somthing that Sony has TAKEN from each and every one of us. A feature that WE the people have payed for when we baught our systems(or at least the people that baught the old systems know what OtherOS is) But ya...I'm a bit freaked out. I'm gonna have to tell my dad about this xD because its not my Ps3 its the family ps3...and since I've been working on it installing stuff and whatnot I will have to tell him the news and update him on whats going on. If we get our ps3 disabled by Sony...we are going to be so pissed. I think my dad will be more mad then I am lol...

Second: Don't rely on Proxy's to much. If Graf is that smart he uses also a proxy and still they found him. Maybe a very expensive elite proxy can do the trick but for the rest I'm not so sure. Sony is not a little pussy when it comes to finding someone. Anything that can be used to find you they will use.
Third: No hackers will help you to cheat with saved games. That is not what we call hacking.
Fourth: Threatening Sony doesn't help at all. They are so stubborn they didn't even care that all work from Graf "could" be on the streets. They were warned it could happen but they simply didn't care. Because they believe they can force anyone to do what they want with the help of lots of money.
