• I take no credit for this tutorial(ok a little) as it made up of the findings of Naha09 or Israyal, Kayot and Valarnin.. and Japsander. This is a 2 Part Tutorial so you need to read all of it.

    From Japsander

To make a custom PKG Game

    Download EBOOT Creation Kit
    http://www.multiupload.com/3ANQYAXWKG

This application is all automated. So its a step by step proccess that does EVERYTHING for you

Its preety much Press Enter for the whole proccess. So i wont go into it.
At the end you’ll have a custom PKG. (the file size is very small so you can install it via *Install Package Files (if you want)

Then install the main contense of your game via FTP if the files are too large or Comgenie’s Awesome File Manager.

If the game is cutup into parts, install it to the hard drive first, then move the files from USRDIR to dev_hdd0/game/BLESXXXXX/ do not replace the EBOOT.

    Now for Part 2:

    From Israyal/Naha09

    PART 2

To make a custom PSN Pill. [3.55 or 3.41] (its what appears when you download a PSN game)

1: FTP into /dev_hdd0/vsh/task/ and make folder a folder called 0000XX (the folder name is random so it will be any number) to make it a bit easier, go to Brewology.com and download a random PSN package. Install it. This will make the folder for you.

2: Now you should have a folder 000000XX go into it and pull the folowing files down: d0.pdb (psn database) d1.pdb and ICON_FILE.

3: Drag d0.pdb file into a Hexeditor HXD is a good hexeditor.

4: Change the name of the current PKG to what you want it to be, it has to be same amount of letters as the previous name,(so make sure you get a largish pkg, like a demo or something, so you have more room to work with) otherwise it wont show, although it can be anything, as long as you dont add or subtract to the pdb.

5: Change the Content-ID to the name of your homemade pkg. eg: IV0001-BLESXXXX_00-00000000000000. You have to make these edits to d0.pdb and d1.pdb

6: Now for the part i actually did discover XD. Put .jpg on the end of the ICON_FILE to make it editable in say InfranView. It will come up with a standard icon. Now, take any picture you’d like (this will be the image you’ll see in the bubble)

7: Take the ICON_FILE from earlier, put .jpg on the end and go to edit in InfranView. Look at the dimentions on the picture, change your custom icon to match those of the ICON_FILE. Delete the old icon file. And rename your new custom icon to ICON_FILE.

8: Now fire up FTP, and head to dev_hdd0/task/00000XX/. Upload your files youve just made and also take the custom PKG and upload that as well into the same directory. Turn off the PS3, then turn it back on.

(If you forget the PKG, you’ll get an error stating the package couldnt be found.)

9: Now the package you’ve just uploaded should now be in a “PSN Pill” Press on it, and it will install.

Go back on to part 1 to install the rest of the game.

Just like Backup Managers, some games may not work, the EBOOT creator is still pretty experimental, so it wont be perfect but some games will work. Vanquish for example.

Great tutorial, but you can always use some of the existing tools made for this job, so no need for hex editing etc. Coincidently, i've made such an application: PSN Demo Installer and there were other similar applications released later, that did the same (maybe better, no idea).

Great work thanks for this program! I was modding the long way and it was getting old. Thanks again!

      ~Peace

Update: I'm getting an error right after it says "the root should have files......" I get "get_id - Unable to Locate component: This application has failed to start because MSVCP100.dll was not found. Re-installing this application may fix this problem.

I tried deleting then unzip to c:, but it still does not work. My guess is that it is missing the file in the error message above. Anyone else have this prob?

      Great tools and tut, thanks!

this is probably a stupid question but im going to go there any way!

I have been trying for ages now to get assasins creed BH working on my 3.41 jailbroken ps3

ipod mini 1stgen hermes 3.50 spoof
      multiman

i cant for the life of me get it working! i have got GT5 and NFS working with modded eboots gained from this site(thanks to all the people that got them working)

does these tools allow me to moddify assasins ebbot so it works or has anyone got the eboot to make it work, or being even more cheeky... Does any one want to make one for me!

i have tried all the tuts in the forum.

      Cheers guys!

Hi mate, I'm prett sure there wasn't any nodding of AC:Bro Eboot required, just to edit param to 3.41 (which most famous backup managers do automatically anyhow).

this is for 3.55 and it is pretty much the same as the castlevania eboot.bin tutorial but doesn't work because it uses the old unself that gives the wrong eboot.elf size. there is an option to do 3.55 but not 3.41.

They should hire Geohot and not sue him!
He is the best.He should not be in this position. It's unfair!

I had no problems making the pkg from step one everything went great with my copy of madden 11. I guess somewhere in step 2 i havent done something right in hxd hex editor. I have everything showing up right including my edited icon bubble but it gives a error 80010006 when i try to install the bubble icon on xmb. Now when i install the same pkg via install package it installs shows up its madden 11 with background music and all but when it boots its just a black screen. Anyone confirm madden 11 working via this method?

Its not. It uses some windows .dll files located in the system32 folder.
Unfortunately the app doesn't work if your version of windows has a different .dll version of the files. So then you need to download them from the link a couple of posts ago. And put those files in C:/WINDOWS/system32 to make the app work.

why new EBOOT.bin is different in size that original one?
Is it possible to have run the game from external HDD using the same way?
That would be easier in some ways, but harder in others. It would take forever to install the pkg. PS3 games are huge a lot of the time. That's why. Also it's more effort than is necessary to arive at the same result. Point of least resistance and such.
      [EDIT]
During my use of this script, it created the bin and root directories (in which I placed the appropriate files), went on and did it's thing and then left me with a bunch of scattered junk everywhere (not junk obviously but misplaced and necessary files that were not cleaned up [from the app dir or the bin/root dirs]). I would assume that since it asks you if you want to clean that it would just make edits there or over write files there.
[Fixed] Windows Explorer was copying the files inside the directory and to the app dir simultaneously.
      Thanks so much for this.
      [EDIT2]
Also I love that it steps you through the process and attempts to make it's self perfectly understood. Very user friendly.

Well I already backup some games to internal HDD and the rest to external HDD.
      Here a unlucky result again
Tried Kill Zone 2 which was on internal HDD
      Created package successfully
game open and asked for update but PS hang.
Copied Movies folder which seems to be deleted after installation again from external to internal , but still hang.

Any way , I 'll try another one.

So package create all files and structure without the rest of USERDATA files and folers?

If I could run the game on Geohot patch, What if I install OFW 3.55 over Geohot 3.55 ,JB the games will work?

Yes. But why would you remove the ability to install more of your games?

Red Dear Redemption goes back to XMB. [not working] for me anyway. Will try more.

      Just for PSN.

Logically all games should work using signed package , what is wrong.?

I can suggest PS3 tool to do the package installation internally instead of all that.

Any way I'll keep trying ..

Please remember that you if you go down the route of making a PKG file and use the installer menu in XMB, you need to run this first. THEN transfer the USRDIR directory, of your game, over to the new folder that has been created in dev_hdd0/game
REMEMBER to not overwrite the created EBOOT.BIN that was created by the PKG file
I have found success with this everytime but now to my query!!!

BLES00322 PKG created and installed. Transfered USRDIR from Disc to dev_hdd0/game/BLES00322/ and game appears in XMB. Run it and asks for update, say no and then it tells me that the game data is corrupt. The game data must be deleted in order to play this game. Weird one. Anyone else seen this?

Dame gata not the game. Scroll all the way up in the game arm of the XMB and delete the installed data [Game Data Utility]. Then on forst boot of the game it will reinstall the data. NP. :-)

Uncharted 2 [BCUS98123] - WORKS. Press O at update message.

Red Dear Redemption - FAILS - goes back to XMB.
inFamous [BCUS98119]- FAILS - Install failed message

Would be nice to see a list begin to form.

Turns out that Mirrors Edge doesn't like the PKG method either! Tried the delete game data from any areas and reinstall but same message.

As to a list, like to suggest psjcl.com as some users are starting make notes on that site and it includes everything else about jb versions etc.

I've added NFS HP and Assas BH to state 3.55 PKG packed and signed eboot etc

Here's a test, Gonna try Smackdown vs Raw 2011, maybe it will fix the game issues and play correctly. If I use the pkg creator all I have to do is copy game data to the /game/BLUS???? folder? the Tut was a little confusing on whether I need to do step one and two or just pick one.

it just won't work universally. some games use hardcoded paths; others don't. (some use Unicode paths... is this program even replacing those?)

Didn't see anything on that site about pkg install. Only BMs.

Well good job guys. That was a good tutorial. It is nice to see that little bubble to install, but IMO more cosmetic. Either way it seems as a lot of us are getting this down now. We will see what comes in the following weeks as we keep making this simpler.

Creating the package is not a big deal now. many tools are around
the problem is getting the game working.
Is there any log when running a game to see what is happening?

Thanks for this, it helped me avoid the manual way which I really didn't understand well. Just wanted to inform that Killzone 2 (BCUS98116) works perfectly for me using the PKG method.

      EBOOT.BIN to BIN
The rest (excluding USRDIR) to root

It tells you what you need to put into which folders.
Once started the script will create a "bin" directory.
dev_bdvd/PS3_GAME/USRDIR/eboot.bin <-- That file goes in the bin directory.
Then the script creates a directory called "root".
Everything else in the PS3_GAME directory EXCEPT for USRDIR goes in there.
      Tada!
After installing the package, copy the contents of the USRDIR directory but not EBOOT.BIN to the USRDIR created on the PS3 after installation of the pkg.

For psn_package_npdrm.exe on osx/linux I am using wine.
Its working perfectly. For OSX user just install macport.
      Then

      sudo port install wine

This will take a long time and after just run it using

      wine psn_package_npdrm.exe

      Voila.
      O.
