smokin has released a simple homebrew app which wipes your PS3 complete log history. This basically makes it impossible for Sony to know (or so we currently think) which apps/homebrew we have ran. To use simply run via XMB and it will flicker black and return to XMB as normal. You can download it below.

what if Im using a backup manager or other homebrew online. They can still see that right?

this would be good if you are still under warranty and want to get your system fixed. but then again, lack of logs on a system out there for some time also tells a tale too. it would be nice if it added some plausible dependability, like added web surfing or logs of games.
of course im talking out my rear and have no idea exactly what is being deleted.
Props to the Dev though :D

THEY SHOULD BAN THESE IDIOTS PERMANENTLY
Now to topic. If there isn't any evidence there isn't any crime. Don't need this if you upgraded your Internal HDD before Jaillbreak. Cool app tho

How can this wipe the history when what we are playing is logged and stored on Sony's servers?
I may clear the local history stored on the PS3, but it will not hide the info from Sony if we have used homebrew when connected the the internet.

is there a way to view what is in the list?
01-23-2011

well, it will be impossible for sony to track you if apps and backups are on a external
hard drive.
01-23-2011
04:18 AM
What makes it impossible?? Because you think so? What proof do you have that its impossible?
Let the developers you are working with the system state the facts, not some jerkoff with a keyboard.

correct me if i am wrong, but your ps3 uploads your last played games or activity at boot up. i personally think people need to give up on this whole stealth idea. sony learned from the psp and they can tell each and every ps3 that logs on to their server that is hacked. there is no way to fool them in that aspect. even if this app wipes your history it will leave a trace of it being ran and sony will see that you ran that app last when you boot up your ps3. the only way to be on psn is to do it without a hacked ps3 period. that will never change.
p.s. fu to all the people that say fu to sony. how can you hate a company that puts out the best video game systems for the past 15 years plus and which you buy. immature kids like you make me sick. have respect for the company that consistently puts out superior products. people do not think you are cool just because you say fu to sony.

Im taking what I can out of PSN now cuz I believe the banhammer will come. Nothing to back it up other than Microsoft are pretty ruthless and Sony will be to!! Being off PSN is a big deterrent for some ppl. Personally I use my Xbox for my online activities and playstation for its single player games. There are a mass of single player games (past present and future) that are exclusive to Playstation so for me its worth it.
Be careful if you are using your only console online with homebrew, it is very very early days and no one knows what Sonys response will be. But they will respond!!!
My sons Wii however can play backed up games online without worry so who knows! But then the Nintendo WFC is an infant compared to PSN. Wait and see if you value your PSN ppl!!!

Why don't we just create a fake log? By that I mean, we write a fake log that shows us running normal games and keep the PS3 from writing to it. On boot-up, the system would send this log and everything would be fine.
With this much control over the system I find it hard to believe that there is nothing we can do to keep sony from seeing what applications we are running.

It probably would be enough to keep Sony guessing. The wouldn't throw the banhammer when they are not absolutly sure they would only ban CFU's.
It would just be to much bad publicity to ban OFW users.

I am currently on Gaia manager, looking to try Multiman! They both read out of the same GAMEZ folder dont they?
Dont wana take Gaia off cuz to be honest it is working flawlessly but the pics ive seen for Multi man look very pretty indeed!!
Sorry one more question for the readers!! How do I back up from my PS3 320 GB hard drive to an external hard drive. Just want to keep all my back ups, backed up in a safe place! Ive seen somethin about FTP, how well does it work and where can i find out more info? Cheers!

Yeah, multiman has a .ini file wich is very usefull and where you can tell him where to search your files.

I ran this and now when I run multiman 1.13 it says no resident payload was found and i cannot boot games anymore. Any ideas what I should do guys?

do we really need this ?
correct me if i am wrong but you can switch your ps3 on with net off and just edit your boot_history.dat via ftp or by that homebrew app that transfers files from USB to ps3 HDD (forget the name of the app lol)
The boot_history.dat file can be edited your self with a hex editor and can be edited to show false game logs
The log shows titles as GXXXXXXXXX (X= game id eg:BLES0295)
homebrew shows up as what ever the homebrew folder inside the game folder on dev0 is called, and you just need to edit the title id to what ever legit game id you like then put the edited boot_history.dat back where you found it, Now reconect the net.
This is what i have been doing since i first jail broke my ps3 and keep a few pre edited boot_history.dat files on my PC to save time editing them all the time.
Both wipe history app and the way i mentioned i do not think will save you if you play games on PSN,
i do all so wonder if ps3 games carry there own unique disc id's and if these are sent to PSN when they are played online.
If this is the case and you are playing online with a downloaded game or one backed up from your local game rental shop then you can bet there's going to a lot of game ids been the same log'd on to PSN and Sony will know instantly that you have a copy.
If PS3 games do not have unique disc id's all ready then you can bet Sony will implement them soon i know i would if i was Sony.

This is signed for 3.55 where Waninkoko CFW uses 3.41 signed PKGs.
Can someone sign this for 3.41 so the people like me who are running Waninkoko CFW can install it.

Did anybody read my post above running does something to your resident payload when I try to run multiman 1.13 now it says a resident payload could not be found some functionality may be limited when I try to boot a game now it shows the real disc in the drive not the one I am trying to boot anyone know why this happened or how to fix it?

you can try deleting multiman from the xmb by pressing triangle on it and then reinstalling it to see if that helps if that don't work then as a last resort you could reformat the drive but make sure you back up saves and stuff first.

some one should incorporate this into a cfw so it does this b4 it sends logs to sony
just a suggestion

Bl00dy crazy if you ask me! If I were Sony. I'd have the machine check the CRC32 or MD5 Hash of the BIOS! Simple as. Detect the version running there and some how bundle that up the networking calls to their network...

Even less for people who try to make out like it's OK to be one.

would there be a way of making the "boot_history.dat" file a read only? so you could just make one "fake" and leave it on there without the ps3 overwriting it?

Ok i think i know what your problem is and correct me if im wrong but im guessing your on KMEAW cfw and if so thats the problem i found that out by switching from waninkoko to kmeaw and thats what it would say everytime i used multiman but i said screw kmeaw and converted back to waninkoko for the simple FACT that its way better and i dont have to run any patches everytime i started up my ps3 so to make a long story short go with WANINKOKO cfw because kmeaw has NO PAYLOAD to work with multiman and thats why it says that i hope this helped
01-23-2011
09:45 AM
yeah IM on Km CFW and got the payload error. Im stayin put here tho, using Gaia manager and everything working perfectly. (I dont have to run lv 2 patcher) If it aint broke an all that!!!
Will consider changing when things advance further.

If you´re using latest version of Multiman, read the change log file, it has desabled autoload payloads to increase stability, so you've to run the Lv2 patch before running Multiman last version.

I don't mind if sony drops the banhammer on me.

why?
Because you can download not only disc based games but also PSN games and also DLCs as well
Also, you can play online using Xlink Kai :D
btww, off topic but on the multi man app, anyone notice the PSX store? I'm guessing this will be the PS3's version of installous for the ipod

Although this is a neat idea, I too think it pointless, as once you log the game, Sony should be able to see you as you play it.
I play a game for hours, usually, so I really don't care if sony see's me. If they really want to ban me from PS3, I'll try to fight it based on I using what my country states is a legal digital copy of my purchase. Even if that fails, oh well, we can hope that the DMCA gets revised for all hardware and not just handsets. or just play games offline.
In the meantime, just enjoy what was given to us, and you can use this tool if you see it necessary, but I just for one don't.
Cheers,
C

How will this help when Sony logs the info (apps/games we play) on their servers ?
When/if they start banning consoles, it will most likely be based on the info they log remotely and not local info on the PS3.

Great work!
But! How about a log editor instead of a wipe.
This way we could delete only what we dont want to be shown in the log... At least, we could start deleting everything from the log file from the first day 1 that homebrew started running on our ps3.
