• Another homebrew app has been released that mounts a writable dev_flash. The great thing about this one is that it supposedly works on all firmwares. This will save alot of time for people wanting to modify their flash files since they will no longer have to run the AsbestOS installer. More and the source below:

    dev_blind – a simple writable dev_flash mounter
This homebrew just does what the title says (plus unmounting, if you run it again).

Tested on PS3 3.55 (kmeaw, if you need me to be more specific). It should work on any firmware though.

This enables writing to the flash, which is vital to the operation of the console’s operating system – use this at your own risk.

This homebrew was created using the PSL1GHT SDK.

edit: in comparison with FreeFlash: this is ONLY using two syscalls (one for mounting, one for unmounting) – simple, efficient, and works.

Yes it is like flash Alejandro or free flash. No need for the asbestos installer to write to flash now on 3.55

Will this do the job to install the cert file without installing AsbestOS to access PSN with Charles?

I'm am actually waiting for Graf his Linux solution because I think it will open more doors than kmeaw his solution so I don't want to mess with AsbestOS to avoid any conflicting problems in the near future. But when Graf his linux solution is there I finally can upgrade my Fat 3.15 PS3 to 3.56 OFW and keep my Slim on CFW with Linux

If only used for copying the certificate in, is there a big risk?
There are not much comments yet and I only have left 1 PS3 ;-)
      I' am on Waninkoko V2.

Thank you, this works like a charm - and through FTP.

I used this today to modify the CA24.cer file in dev_flash. It worked exactly as it should do and didn't brick the system - thanks for that

Only thing to note for anything using this:
You can access the mounted "dev_blind" through FTP.. BUT.. I had to manually type the address at my PS3 FTP server would not display the dev_blind folder. I feel this is the FTP server's fault though.

      Once again, thanks.
