Its almost that time again, the most exciting time in a gamers year, the Electronic Entertainment Expo(E3), which is being held between the 7th and 9th of June, some of you might be new to gaming and don’t really know what E3 is all about, here is a quote from the official E3 website.
E3 Expo is the world’s premier trade show for computer and video games and related products. The show is owned by the Entertainment Software Association (ESA), the U.S. association dedicated to serving the business and public affairs needs of the companies, publishing interactive games for video game consoles, handheld devices, personal computers, and the Internet. For more information, please visit www.E3Expo.com or www.theESA.com.
There will be many companies there, but the three big contenders are Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo, below i will cover what each of these three may bring to the Expo going by various rumours, these are in no way official.
Sony
Sony has a new handheld games console in the works, its project name is Next Gen Project or NGP, it is reported to have a Quad Core Processor as well as many other amazing features, today a gaming website(Games Pundit) stated that an unknown source, gave them information in regards to the official name of the new handheld machine, they revealed that name would be PS Vita, you can read more about it and vote here.

This E3 will be a little over six years since the PS3 was first showcased and although the first demo console was amazing, the final model released a year later didnt have all that Sony had originally promised, regardless, it was still an amazing machine.
Sony vice president and chief financial officer Masaru Kato has already confirmed that there is a PS4 in development, so will this year see a demo machine of the PS4 on display ?
Read more about that article here, regardless of what is and isn’t released, rumours are going to be wild spread and some of it unfortunately will be misleading, or unfortunately could be true in the case of the NGP, which has been reportedly downgraded spec wise from the original machine mentioned by Sony, this is a massive trait with Sony, promise big, then deliver less:
Original NGP Specs Reported By Sony:

Not mentioned in the image above is the RAM, which was reported to be 512MB, according to a French gaming website, that amount has been halved to 256MB, also the on board 16MB of storage space has also been removed, you can read the original article from the French website here or a Google translated version here.
Microsoft
My personal opinion on the Xbox 360 is that they should have used HD-DVD’s as a gaming medium, this would have meant games would only have needed one disc instead of four in some cases, HD-DVD as a medium on a whole would also have survived and we would have seen a more exciting battle between HD-DVD and Blu Ray.
Rumours have it that we may see a new console, other rumours suggest 3D for the 360.
Nintendo
Regardless of what a lot of 360 and PS3 fanboys say about the Wii, there is no denying that it was by far the most popular, the most entertaining and most sold console of this current generation, Nintendo has stated that they will release a successor to the Wii, which the no doubt will be showcased at E3, the console which is dubbed Project Cafe, will be far superior to the PS3 and Xbox 360, reports also suggest that it will have a new type of control pad, which will house a touch screen panel, the console is also said to be backward compatible with the Wii, though it seems that the machine wont have 3D.
Nintendo will also probably speak about the N3DS.
Amongst all the rumours and what we think and hope will be released, there is no doubt that this years E3 will be very exciting, i myself am looking forward to MS and Nintendo’s show’s and new footage for the new Elder Scrolls game, i think i will leave it there and let you make your own minds up, be sure to mention what you think may appear at this years E3
You can download the E3 Floor Plan here, i created a PDF and marked the important stalls, so enjoy and you can be sure of plenty of E3 coverage on this forum when it happens.

I am looking forward to Microsoft's showing this year, but Sony really needs to steal the show. Also the Wii was popular and won this generation even with last gen graphics and media. IMHO Nintendo will be a step behind now. Sure, they may reveal a truly awesome system, but it wont go toe to toe with a PS4 or a new XBox (at least hardware wise).

Zelda, Mario and Samus in HD exploring open worlds will make me easily forget anything MS or Sony has to offer. I just hope they learn from the mistakes of Sony.
Nintendo -
1. If you include something, don't take it away.
2. Plug&play for any HDD format.
3. Plug&play for every video container out there. Don't lock up the media capabilities. Give people what they want from a powerful console. Give me a reason not to buy a NMT or Rokio or Boxee.
4. Open it up for legal homebrew. Stick to next gen games for your profits and let us install our own emulators for legacy games. Don't try squeezing blood from a stone.
5. Don't try and control your customers from their living room.
6. No remote updates unless you are adding functionality.
Follow those 6 suggestions and I promise I will not even google "USB loader."
They should be your holy grail.

Personally, I'm still going with Nintendo and Sony on the next gen (I don't like the idea of paying for online so until that changes, Microsoft won't get a cent from me).
To those complaining about the Project Cafe being a waste of time: Think about something, the Wii has been hacked to nearly PSP-hacks level. It was only limited by hardware, such as trouble emulating MAME, although the PSP, with its inferior specs was able to perfectly emulate CPS1, CPS2 and Neo Geo separately.
With these new superior specs, this new console might reach what the PS3 scene couldn't or hasn't, and maybe without even losing the online, as Nintendo only banned cheaters previously on Wii and DS. I'm not saying it will be instantly hacked, but let's be patient. I know I'm getting one and probably won't update its FW until a hack is announced
So, if Nintendo's next console gets hacked again, it might have a good scene development, hell, there was a Wii-linux already working, but again, limited by its hardware.
I don't mean to start a flame war, so I just say, whoever who didn't like Wii and feel this will be a waste, just don't buy it. But don't come back trolling when it starts to develop its scene.
About the other consoles... pretty much I'm getting the NGP and leave it for hacks, unless its games and online are worth it, then I might get two (possibly a Slim model, if it has a specs enhancement like the PSP 2000 over the original).

HD-DVD was an inferior product to Blu-Ray and we should all be glad that it ended as soon as it did. What a stupid comment to make. The only people that suffer during a technology showdown are the consumers. Microsoft didn't want to rely on a technology that possibly wouldn't be there in the next few years and guess what, they were right. Sony had a vested interest in Blu-Ray so it was a no-brainer for them to put it in the PS3. Toshiba obviously missed the boat on that one.

I don't think Microsoft will be saying anything on there next console release. They have said they want to make the Xbox 360 have a long shelf life unlike the original Xbox they stopped supporting to early. The only downfall the Xbox 360 has that will keep it from lasting is the use of DVD media for games. I don't understand why they still couldn't sell the USB HD DVD drive for say $19.99, start rolling out new boxes with the HD drive built in then start releasing games on the HD DVD. As for Nintendo I can't wait to see what they got, they said they will be going big on hardware finally they step up in that department. That is a big reason I hated the Wii not enough power to deliver a stunning gaming or even HD movie experience, that and the fact there was not many good games to speak of. Both the Xbox and PS3 have better titles and offer better graphics.

When you call someone's comments stupid, you insult them, i don't know what idiocy prevails your brain, but HD-DVD was in no way inferior, it had a few GB's less space, but it was on par with Blu Ray and was cheaper.
Only a no brainer would fail to see the significance of using a medium like HD-DVD on the 360
What i failed to mention on the front page, is that i also thought the 360 was rushed, if they had waited until the release of HD-DVD and made a lot of hardware checks, we could have had games coming on only one disc and we may have had less RROD's, also the people that bought the external HD-DVD add on for the 360 wouldn't have wasted money.
lol people can be so pedantic at times on this forum...
