If your a Mortal Combat fan, a new hack is out which enables you to unlock Skarlet, all the bosses, and all classic costumes from Mortal Kombat 1 and 3. Scorpion2k7 brings you the latest tutorial and video below:
IF YOU ALREADY HAVE THE OLD CLASSIC COSTUMES MOD, START HERE:
01) Replace your current MK9 file from the last mod with the original file located in “Mortal_Kombat_9_-_Bosses_
+_Skarlet_+_Classic_Costumes_ModMK9_Original_Files”
- COALESCED.INI (USRDIRCONFIG)02) Delete all of your Game Data for Mortal Kombat on your PS3 by going to “Game Data Utility” and “Saved Data
Utility.” If you have anything saved, you must delete and start fresh.
IF YOU NEVER MODDED YOUR MK9 GAME, START HERE:
03) Go to “Mortal_Kombat_9_-_Bosses_+_Skarlet_+_Classic_Costumes_ModBosses_Mod(Your Game Region)” and replace the
Following files:
- PS3TOC.TXT (USRDIR)04) Go to “Mortal_Kombat_9_-_Bosses_+_Skarlet_+_Classic_Costumes_ModBosses_Mod” and replace the following files:
- UI_PS_VS_JPEGS_PS3.XXX (USRDIRASSET)
- UI_PS_VS_PS3_N.XXX (USRDIRASSET)
- UI_PS_VS_PS3.XXX (USRDIRASSET)
IF YOU ARE ON 3.55 CUSTOM FIRMWARE, FOLLOW STEP 05. IF BELOW 3.55, SKIP THIS STEP:
05) Go to “Mortal_Kombat_9_-_Bosses_+_Skarlet_+_Classic_Costumes_ModMK9_1.02_Retail_Update” in your Package
Manager and install the following file:
- MK9_1.02_Retail_Update.pkg
EVERYONE CONTINUES HERE:
06) Now, depending on your game region(BLUS OR BLES), install the following file from your Package Manager located
in “Mortal_Kombat_9_-_Bosses_+_Skarlet_+_Classic_Costumes_ModCharacter_+_Costumes_Mod”:
- MK9_Character_+_Costumes_Mod.pkg07) Now, once again, depending on your game region(BLUS OR BLES), install the following file from your Package
Manager located in “Mortal_Kombat_9_-_Bosses_+_Skarlet_+_Classic_Costumes_ModBosses_Mod”:
- MK9_Bosses_Mod_Fix.pkg08) COMPLETE! Now just run MultiMAN or whatever your preferred manager is and refresh the game list if it doesn’t
do it for you, then play!

Wow, Thanks alot. I Tried to implement the costumes from a TPB costume pack but they didnt work. Great with new characters.

well you need to make sure you delete the game data and save games.
on your hdd0 look and apply files on the backup game directory not the game directory from multiman.
happend to me and its fixed...
if you dont see the black faces on the button of the selction screen game will freeze that mean that you did not change the PS3TOC.TXT file UI_PS....XXX FILES ON THE ASSET DIRECTORY

All went well the 1.02 update.pkg went in fine till the sixth part installing the costume mod.pkg..An error occurred.....(80029567) same for the boss mod fix.pkg...any help pls
also from past pkg install experiance i think its cause its signed for a specific CFW im on 3.55 Geo/Wutang.Can it be converted?

True but with a terabyte almost filled its to late to downgrade and reinstall kmeaw or rebug...unless there is a way to overwrite cfw's without formatting i just hope a kind soul out there can release those pkg files converted for geo/wut cfw

if you are on 3.55 and geo/wut and you flash back to ofw 3.55 then to kmeaw or rebug 3.55 cfw you will not loose what is on your hard drive.
you dont have to format everytime you install a firmware.
it would be like what ever you downloaded from psn then you upgrade your firmware you will not loose what you have previously downloaded

DONT DELETE your saves. WHoever wrote this tutorial screw up!
Just delete your game cache or manually delete
dev_hdd0\game\BLUS30522 (or whatever it is for BLES)
and delete MK9 folder

So i went from Geo/Wut to OFW 3.55 to Rebug and update patch in less than 30 mins. and now its hammer time with Shoa Khan...so yes it works!!

just to let you guys know after you del your game data and save and test everything working you can reload your save character progression only file and all your saved stuff will be back! I got everything working so that means you can 2, enjoy guys....
Ps hope you guys were smart enough to back up your saves!

hmmm...isnt all this stuff unlockable after beating the game 100%?
only thing i think i dont have is Scarlet...but everything else i belive i have

shao khan, goro and kintaro are not unlockable. this is only avaliable from this game mod.
the only stuff you get after beating story mode is quan chi, and cyber sub zero.
after completing the tower challenge you will get melinas alternate costume
also skarlet is dlc as so are the retro costumes even tho they are on the disc.

i did every step of the tutorail..when i start the game it says that i have to update do 3.60..
when i do it can i still play the other games??

I tested BLUS region with successful but BLES didn't.
Anyway I installed first pkg files but for BLUS region (game controlls will be bugged) and again for BLES region (after that all will be fine).
