With the recent scene changes, I am glad to bring PS3Hax visitors and loyal members some very exciting news. Various PS3 devs including drizzt (Gaia Manager/f*ck PSN), Mr.Goodfrag (DOS Emulators), Rogero (Rogero Manager) and you loved deank (multiMAN) have brought their “big guns” and releases, to here at PS3Hax.

We are very excited with these changes, and I look forward in working with the devs in bringing the best possible experience for them and the scene

With that being said, as per request we have expanded the width of the forums (lower resolutions will retain smaller forum width), hopefully bringing you high-res monitors a more pleasurable reading experience (this will be implemented later tonight).  A new multiMAN category has also been added which will be dedicated to support and new releases related to multiMAN.

So please give a warm welcome to these devs whose contribution makes the scene possible to PS3Hax, your fastest source for PS3 news.

With the recent movement of multiMAN to its new home, PS3Hax, dean and I have decided its time for to bring a new face to the best multifunctional tool on the PS3 – multiMAN.

multiMAN is looking for a new and sexy logo which will represent everything related to multiMAN. Details for the competition can be seen below:

What the logo must contain:

• “multiMAN” lettering (notice case, not Multiman).
• 408×180 size
• Must include: PS3Hax.net in the logo (prefer it to NOT be site logo/image)
• Can include: “Multifunctional tool for your PS3” (if can fit or looks good)
• No copyright images

What you must give (if a winner):

• Raw file (PSD, AI etc..)

How to submit entries:

• Reply to this thread with a sample image ( you dont have to upload the raw file, PNG/JPEG will work just fine).

Alright folks, PS3HaX member and Homebrew Dev Samson has released the final build of WinDOS for PS3.  He has added many great things and a lot of needed finishing touches.

I’ve set up dos based emus to launch from a run.bat so end user can edit and add game to be run, if you have problems try running from explorer, run, run as dos session.

also added:

• ps3hax theme
• usb support(no hot plugging)
• a fake cd rom(folder) to copy file into (ps3 file manager or ftp)
• a windows based hex editor

so i think i am about done with it most 3d game lag.. but all 2d and simple 3d work. running slow-Pentium fixed@4000 BUT you can bump the cycles up as much as you want, but sound will suffer.

also i still cant get win32s to work on ps3 , works fine on pc .. go figure.

Have you heard about the Dual-Firmware Theory? Now No_one has released info his latest developments and his future release of PNM, a PS3 NOR Manager. Everything is going to be open-source and will be released “in some weeks”.

So the man behind a lot of work on several great emulators, Squarepusher, has opened up shop full time at the Homebrew Cafe.  After having set up a blog with several other Devs to make it easier to find out what is going on with said emulators.

They have opened up the Homebrew Cafe forums to the public, which you can find here to better help with bug fixes, suggestion, and many other things related to these emulators. Very soon we should see many great things coming from here!!  I will let Squarepusher’s blog post explain more.

This MFW is created by members of PS3Hax but is not officially endorsed.

There seems to be a problem with this pup and recovery. If you are experiencing an issue download boot_gameos.pkg and reboot.pkg. Run bootgameos.pkg then when returned to the xmb run reboot.pkg. Your recovery issue will be solved. If you wish to install linux you will also need the boot_otheros.pkg, but that will make recovery run as petitboot again. These packages can be found in our download section!!

The unofficial Showtime Repack has been updated. This time being version 3.1.5, it resolves a memory leak problem and fixes a browsing problem with ZIP archives.

According to PS3Crunch, there is a new Hardware Flasher for the PS3 in the work. The microchip allows you to Flash or Dump your PS3 (NOR and NAND consoles) and even allows you to downgrade from 3.56+ Firmware.

Alright folks, Subcon959 has been kind enough to give us a working pkg with the new revisions of the VBAPS3 code that will become VBAnext.

I have tested the package and can tell you that dual shaders can now be enabled and the frame rate has been greatly improved thanks to triple buffering and other changes. The R3 menu now displays all options properly and they work.  Yes this version works with multiMAN. Since this is not the official release it it still wearing the VBAPS3 skin (pics, name, etc).  Thanks go to everyone working on this and Subcon959 for releasing this to tide us over until the official release!!!

Before you get super excited, read the entire post. A spanish hacker has released a video showing CFW 3.66 running on his SLIM PS3:

Now at the moment this is pretty useless (no ABILITY to play homebrew and backup support), and you WILL loose your pre 3.6x jailbreak (unless you downgrade via infectus). It is still a work in progress, but its a good start.

Precautions and Features::

Only users in 3.55 (no matter if CFW or OFW)
No turning back, pass over to 3.66 with all that that entails. Only you can downgrade to INFECTUS (dospiedras method).
No syscalls / payloads … so that the burden of copies is disabled. For what is agreed is a firmware guy … GeoHot.
The installed on 3.55 homebrew will stop working.
No package installer (for now).
Full access to PSN.
Works on both Fat and Slim (as shown in the video), no tricks hardware and could suggest a user in the comments.

The PUP for this is available to download but we will not provide it because this is a big work in progress, we highly recommend you NOT install it and loose your current jailbreak. If your feeling risky, you can find download at source or youtube video description.

Deank has updated his latest version of multiMAN. Bringing us tons of changes, but some you may not notice. He increased the max number of games to 960, max number of entries per XMMB column is now 2650, moved “selected option”, and more! If you want to update it directly from your PS3, enter DEBUG mode by holding L2+R2 during multiMAN start.

Now i know this isn’t ground breaking news and perhaps, it may not even be deemed as news, but i personally think it is important enough to be front paged, as it not only promotes the site, but it will give those that had not previously known about it, a chance to download it and enjoy a piece of PS3HaX, here is a quote from the creator of this theme, PS3HaX moderator Annelies on his original post:

5. Disconnect the USB device from your computer and plug it into your PS3 console
6. Under Settings, scroll down to Theme Settings and press X
7. Press X again on Theme and then press X on Install
8. Select your USB device and then install my theme
9. Apply and enjoy

Notes:

1. I did not create the wallpaper from scratch, neither did I create the icons from scratch.
2. The quality of the theme depends on how large your television is. The wallpaper has been up-scaled to 1080p
3. You are free to use this theme in any theme-pack
4. This is not an official PS3Hax.net theme unless Pirate wants to make it one. It is obviously fan-made.

Spanish PS3 hacker Matercrack, has released a tool which allows devs to pack and unpack dev_vflash files to a PUP.

To quote (translated):

This is a script used to unpack and pack the PUP dev_flash the team using tools fail0verflow, kakaroto geohot and, although modified a bit for better performance.

Instructions:

Put these tools in a folder called flash-Des-Emp_dev
You need to have unpacked the PUP
Extract the files in the folder update_files.tar script
Run the script and ready

Notes:

This script creates 3 ​​folders dev_flash, dev_flash_temp dev_flash3 and the first two are simply dev_flash fully unpacked and the third is the creation of folders dev_flash .* files, this could change what you wanted (I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE THIS TOOL MAY CAUSE) and modify the script to skip to step packaging.

The Port of Mednafen, a Multi-system Emulator has been updated. The Atari 2600 Emulator Stella is now included in it and the code has been improved a lot. Thanks to Robo Hobo for this great piece of Software!

Here at PS3HaX, we like to showcase our members hard work and make sure everyone feels welcome here for their contributions.   Today we would like to bring you an update on Killerbug’s ps3 hard mods.  So let us begin, KillerBug has posted about his latest PS3 Hardware Modification here on PS3HaX. He has also released the software he used for it on his Homepage. This is one of the coolest looking PS3 Mods that we’ve ever seen.

I finally finished up my PS3 hardware mod. I used an Arduino Pro Mini 3.3v to read the temperatures of the CPU, GPU, NorthBridge,

and intake air. These readings are then used to set the fan speed. Then, the four temperatures and the fan speed percentage are

displayed on a display that is invisible when turned off.

The arduino pro mini plugs into a board that I made by hand from a project board; it isn’t very pretty so I won’t show it. The seven odisplays are on a custom made PCB that I had printed. There are only two in the world…one in my system, and one sitting on my desk, looking for a home.

The first step in assembling this board was to install the seven IC chips:

The second step was to add the seven displays and the connector for the wires going to the arduino pro mini:
