• PS3 Hacks , 04.08.2011

The ProgSkeet is gaining quite a bit of steam over the last few days, and many of you might have ignored it due to the some what intensive solder job required for the install. Well noobs have no fear, it seems a solderless version is in the works, and a video has been posted below:

As a reminder ProgSkeet primarily can be used for downgrading/fixing brick consoles and in the future will most likely be the key to bringing custom firmware support on newer offical firmwares. The video above shows a 360 motherboard, but the chip is universal for consoles so you can pretend that the picture is a PS3 and serves the same purpose :)

    To quote:

I would like to add one thing, in case you haven’t noticed: it’s not about the speed, that train’s long gone.
no, this time around we have the SOLDERLESS CLIP attached to the NAND.
sure, it has wires soldered to it but this is just because there is flex pcb yet to connect to progskeet
once it’s all tested and flex pcb is designed, this will be 100% solderless

And also there are more diagram, and program changes – to quote:

    DIAGRAM Changes:

    03/08/2011
    - Removed DualNandNew.bmp (this is for prototype, sorry)
    - Added Dual NAND diagram (with the switch), read below for instructions.

    02/08/2011
    - Added new NAND/Dual NAND diagram. Power up the console with the switch set to “off”. When the console is on, you can switch it to “on”.

    FLASHER Changes:

    110802
    - Added more selections to Block Count (bigger NANDs)

    110803
    - Fixed: issue with “Test Shorts” – ONLY USE THIS WHEN PROGSKEET IS NOT CONNECTED TO ANY DEVICE!!! OTHERWISE IT GIVES FALSE POSITIVE!!!

    yours truly,

    uf6667

Everyone should buy one of these even if the keys are released. Always a good idea to have a hard mod installed regardless of the situation.

As a victim of Waninko's, I'm very happy to see this is going to be solderless. I might get my fat ps3 back! Yay!

Point taken, but you dont know how many times ive seen this very same situation:

      No complete CFW
No way of returning from a brick
Then we get some sort of hardmod

A couple months later we get a new CFW, or a brick fix, look at the PS2, 360, WII, and PSP timelines

      It's a universal mod chip.

      Yes, it's becoming soderless.

Now I won't have to have someone do the dump and flash for me (Hopefully, I hope the thing will be somewhat newb friendly)

My kudos for Pirate and posting this news. and my kudos to uf6667, im going to buy the solderless version when comes out. But i dunno which chip/mod website trust to place the order, cause i live in Argentina and some sites ships worlwide but i've seen some negative review.

Any advice on wich site i should buy? Sorry for the offtopic. (Shipping overseas, just my bad luck for live in the other side of the world).

      Thanks

technical yes you can but i might be wrong about this but i wouldnt wanna keep on flashing ya nor/nano eg every few hours or every day etc so u can have cfw and 3.66ofw at a click of a finger to go online etc cos it could kill you nor/nano most quicker than it should .

can someone confirm if im right or wrong please?

You are right, they are working on dual firm, But doing *i think* so many flashes to nor/nano i think it's not a good thing to do. Like you said.

Already checked mate, on the official site the list, just saying if anyone from South America have any experience to tell about buying on certain website or what site it's more effective cause one thing is send the package to France or Italy and other thing it's send it to South America. I think im gonna buy it on = Chipmod central when come out the Progskeet the solderless version and will bought the solderversion too.

im new to the scene and this might be a noobish question but assuming i already have this chip soldered an everything, how would i go about running dual fw? Is there some kind of tutorial out? is it still in development?

Pretty sure you wouldnt use a progskeet to have a dual fw. You need 2 nands/nors soldered on. The progskeet can be used to switch to and from 3.66 ofw to 3.55 ofw though.

i believe running a dual fw is a whole different setup alltogether.

Huge news, everyone moaning about 3.6+cfw blah blah blah, with this you get the best of both without the bull**** moans in between.

Am glad of this, i know the solder less version is coming out but the "i want this boys" are not going to open there ps3's up because there mummy's wont allow it. Well FUUUUUUUUU try it.... what the worst that could happen?(dr pepper lol) the devs do it all the time :D

Well getting this done. If it destroy the nand chip, fine am cool with that because its on me upgrading and downgrading. and ebay is my friend lol

It's for boys who know how to open a PS3 and do some research about it, by curiosity or just for have some fun and learn about it.

Big/Slim it's the same, If you don't want to risk anything you will gain nothing.

hello all, i'm new in this forum

just wondering, if we can erase the nor chip, we can also write it, right?

i have my slim laying around with corrupted fw,rsod, bricked. all i need is just erase and rewrite the nor. but where can i find dumped files to write?
i dont think my friend would allow me to open their machine and mess up with it just to have the correct files.

i think the developer for this Progskeet should upload the necessery files for it

      just my 2 cents....

Read the NOR of your chip and manually edit it so you can at least get to the recovery menu.
