As you may know, I (facanferff) was working in a plugin called WatchTV that would allow you to stream live TV channels, I announced that development was cancelled due to legal problems but now I am very happy to release the plugin, I informed since that and obtained the information that I would not have any problem if I allow the user to use its own XMLs files with the channels. It means who doesn’t have XMLs files hosted in a website (any website) will not enjoy the plugin since it doesn’t bring you any channels, they are added by yourself or anyone else. All the responsibilities for using an unauthorized stream are yours, take note of that.
With this talk and before you download Showtime + WatchTV + Channel9 + GameTrailers + Revision3, you have to know how this system works.
1. Extract the folder called list from the archive to any place of your computer
2. Upload it to a website that you have or wait for a known person to you do it (the folder list must not be changed, the name should be this and only this)
3. Install the pkg provided in the package
4. Go to Showtime’s Settings
5. Enable WatchTV plugin, enable too the option called “Check for new versions” (this searchs for new versions of the plugin each time you open WatchTV, it is a very useful option to enable) and below that option is one called “Remote website” there you enter the full name of your website till the folder list you uploaded to that website.
For example:

6. Go to WatchTV plugin and you should have three folders called:

What’s do each one?

That’s it, you made it and you have WatchTV working.
For Devs and people that know XML:
If you want to add your own streams to it, add the folowing lines:

FAQ:
1. I don’t want to upload the folder to a website, instead of that I have a website that uses your folder, what I have to do?
If this is your case, you may bypass steps 1 and 2, and start by installing directly the pkg, once there, in the option “Remote website” write that website as specified in step 5.
2. The genres list should have more genres, what can I do for it?

You have to upload the folder to your website according to your hosting service that I can't help you, but generally you can ftp the folder to your website.

and open it with a editor

I'm finding issues with codecs a lot on the streams, too slow to decode streams etc. You have to remember showtime is still very very new, expect this thing to be a powerhouse in like 2 months. very cool thanks to everyone who is helping make this project work.

I got this working. Set it up on my scientific linux 6 box. Added the firewall port redirect, installed rtmpdump which included rtmpsuck. Got Rtmp to capture the stream info from a TV stream playing in a browser.

Okay so I think I understand how the xml filetags work, and I've got my own website which I can easily publish to, but the trouble I'm having is getting the rtmp link information in the first place.
I've been looking for tools/programs with which I can grab rtmp link info, and I haven't been successful.
RTMPDump seems to require you to compile the source code yourself, which is beyond my ability and interest in doing.
CooJah 6 seems like it would do the trick (if you can get past the Chinese text during install), but it crashes whenever I run it. Maybe not Windows 7 compatible? EDIT: CooJah works fine under Windows 7 if you run it as admin! Doh, my bad.
Does anyone else have any ideas/help with how I can go about collecting rtmp information? I'll do all the leg work, I have no problem with that, I just don't know enough about rtmp collecting to do this all on my own.

I found a program called StreamTransporter that actually does give you the rtmp url, but I'm still struggling with some other parts. A screenshot from a Food Network stream is attached.
The correct format of the created rtmp link should be:

CooJah doesn't want to play nice with my computer, so I'm trying to figure out ANY other way. It's looking like you can only successfully create rtmp links for this Showtime plugin if you fall into one of two categories:
1) You run Linux and can use RTMPDump, as in facanferff's tutorial.
2) You successfully install and run CooJah 6 under Windows.
It's just a bummer that we have such limited options right now. I don't think there are very many people who fit into those categories.

For those who want to host their own, get dropbox http://db.tt/qXHVyyy put the files in your public folder (in the drop box folder) right click a file pick from the drop down list dropbox -> copy public link.

Well, the best thing for this plugin would have been if someone would create a community driven site where you can type in your findings into a SQL database add/remove/update streams whenever a stream changes/dies, so that it is possible to have as up-to-date stream list as possible (and where you export the data to xml)...
I started coding a site like that, but i don't know if it would be worth all the trouble since author of such a site may in some countries be liable to legal actions...

About All channels, it searchs the list-... files of the genres supported and list them in a big list.
Shopping genre added, create a file like the others called list-shopping.xml and you're ready.

Sorry for the noob questions ... but i have to, i installed showtime the first time:
first i dont see the option "Check for new versions" in the settings, either "Remote website" ...
I uploaded the list directory to my website, but i dont know how to add it in showtime!?
If I start to stream i.e gametrailers ... i get an error "unhandled http response 404"

it was an internal error from gametrailers, other videos works ... but not smooth at all, very laggy .. i have a 100mbit connection -.-

so far http://www.killerninjamonkey.com/ has a few channels working and a few cams also but there are some channels that dont work.
as for http://ps3hax.net23.net/list/ it keep kicking me out of the showtime app and i hae yet to find a working channel yet.

Ps my site will be up until they shut it down.

I can't get any of the links to work I have followed what people have said to do but I just keep getting,

let me explain it :the normal site is ''http://example.com/list'' the way it needs to be in order for it to work is ''http://example.com/'' don't add list just the / will do and no quotes of course.

You might need to remove swfVfy=true live=true from the fox soccer link i removed it from mine and it works, unless you have other stuff in your sports folder thats causing an issue.

when runing watchtv on shpwtime my audio doesnt move in time with video i think the audio is at least 4 seconds ahead/behind of the video playback

sometimes it fixes itself sometimes it gets buggy and you have to quit out and back in rest of the time you can fix it with the audio delay feature :P

Can someone get the Sky sports 1-3 channels up, as for some reason I cannot get the rtmp links. I have tried a number of windows softwares in the tutorial but it's still a no go, so I have giveup.

yes for some un known reason I have not got my server to work yet, but i can get it to work using the same files if i host on a xbox1 using xbmc as the http server and a Dbox2 digibox using that built in web server with no issues. I think its who I am hosting with, or I have access rights setup wrong, I did think it was ports but sorted them.

ixnay on the etc. harder streams get hit less chance you got using it :P
rip the feeds while you can, can imagine a community project or something coming out of the works though happy to put my 2 bits in.
however, some cool stuff you guys should know..
double clicking a category will list as a view, and you can store thumbnails on your hard drive so you don't have to buffer them each time you browse, making it look way sexier. watchtvx instead of watchtv will do this
load the logos in the attached zip to /dev_hdd0/logos/ on your ps3 for this.
you should remember this for yourself when compiling your own xml's, mine isn't forever, its not made for like, public domain

what would be awesome would be a debug option that would let you sniff all links to see if they are active and grey out ones that aren't. not only good for users but for people who are maintaining links and can see whats not working and fix.
This would make this plugin so much more epic.

for people using the 00uaebx network you will need this file:

inside is the compiled XML sheet of streams and logos for the channels.
the logo folder has to be in /dev_hdd0/logos/
this makes not only the plugin way less buggier and makes the channel view way quicker.
to transfer this to your console you will need multiman built in FTP server or one of the many ftp servers floating around, my favourite being blackb0x (fast and most compatible)
blackb0x ftp server 1.2 http://www.ps3hax.net/2010/10/blackb...-1-2-released/
by editing the xmls supplied you can do whatever you want with the stream.

Typical n00b me, I tought you were about to create something that you just install into the PS3 and I could watch all the channels that you had on your list lol (as if)
So i need a website and even then after that even the channels you have listed I have to find some kind of link or something to get each channel up and running, is this correct?
Will all this become a little bit more easier to use as the months go on? (probably is easy, but everything is when you know how)
if i had the money, i'd fly you too me just to show me, easier to understand rather than reading all this computer/technical talk!!!!
Anyway well done and great work (well thats what people on here seem to think I have yet to give it a go as i dont have a website, sorry for being so stupid)

that's more a question for the showtime dev. this is a plugin by another dev.
Showtime is only supported by 3.55 because while it is building the final pkg it signs it making it incompatible with any firmware less than 3.55

1) Install Showtime with the WatchTV plugin (available in the first post of this thread)
2) Boot up Showtime, go to its settings menu (gear icon in top right), find the WatchTV plugin under those settings, and find its "remote website" setting.
3) Connect a USB keyboard and type in a web address that is hosting a pre-generated XML file that has all the channels
(e.g. one good one right now is http://dl.dropbox.com/u/360776/ but make sure you enter that last "/" )
Now you can go back to the homescreen of Showtime and load WatchTV, and it should pull up all the channels from that web address you entered. Select one and enjoy.

In that case then, for people who want to stay on 3.41, they can just get a re-compiled version of Showtime 3.1.126 (which supports the plugin repository) and then when you release an updated version of WatchTV, they can install it via that repository? That would work, right?

Currently, the only way to get WatchTV in Showtime is to use the package provided on the first page of this thread. Future updates to WatchTV should be available to install via the plugin repository within Showtime, so this is really the only time that we'll have this issue.
So you can either downgrade your Showtime for a little bit, or wait a little bit until the next version of WatchTV comes out.

that megaupload link with the icons and xml files works great, other than the radio file it gives an error when trying to open.

channels with ambiguous details lag up your ps3. it doesn't freeze it up but delays it for like 75 seconds. surely a timeout feature will be put on to stop dragging this out so long

But there is one big problem and i hope anybody is able to fix it.
The streams works, but they only work for a minute, then they crash with the classic error..

I have problems with a TV channel. It starts fine, but after a minute it crashes.

Well... until now i've manged to configure all "tools" for the ps3 myself...
but now i am defenatly at my limit...
i done have my own internet-side and dont get the whole thing...
regardless how often i read other posts...
I am from germany... is it just possible to watch german or english TV in SD or HD for myself?
It would be very nice if some one could help me or write an updated tutorial for the best possible "WatchTV experience"..
Would that be possible?... Very mutch of thanks to the one who can help me!

2. unzip the showtime+watch.zip and extract the pkg-file to an usb-stick.
3. You dont need to keep the list folder. feel free to delete it.
4. install the pkg file via usb on your ps3.
5. open the plugin and go to the settings.
6. scroll down until you reach watchtv.
7. open it and set both options on "On"
8. type any url from this thread at the remote-website-thing. for example: http://ps3hax.net23.net/
8.1 if you dont have an usb keyboard you have to do it via ftp.
9. start the plugin and have fun.

I have good news, I added support for a checker of RTMP links, so it will be features in the new version (to be released soon), for that the user must enable Debugging in the plugin's settings and then when accessing a genre, it will check each link and will only display those that are available and in the end of loading the list it shows a message with the list of unavailable streams.
I should alert one thing about that feature I don't recommend the normal user to enable it since it makes the list take much more time to load completely, it should only be used for who is working with the lists.

yeikes i just had a pretty good scare.....
im useing that dropbox server or whatever u call it i dunno.
i was like cool a livecam section and went to miami beach 3(HD), then miami beach 2, then when i went to miami beach 1 my ps3 froze.
i turned it off and when i turned it back on the green light came and the hdd was blinking but no picture showed up on my screen. i was like NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
luckily this has happened to me before a long time ago (i think it was when i was setting up ****psn) so i used the same strategy as i did before. i just switched from my hdmi to avi and the picture showed up HORRAY! then switched back to hdmi and it was fine.
im not sure what caused this but it would have been verry uncool if i didnt know how to fix it.
ive read through most of this thread and didnt see anyone mention anything like this so i just wanted to give u guys a headsup.

Yeah, I just checked them again and only Discovery and EuroSport 2 are working.. I've noticed Sky Sports 1-3 seem to work sometimes, others not.. The only ones I'm using at the minute I've triple checked, but sometimes they're not working a while later.. I dunno, I'll keep looking for more links!

Has any one gotten this to actually work?? I have a friend in the dot com biz and he set the list folder up for me and so far it was errors now it will just go into a folder and do nothing or kick me back to XMB.

is there supposed to be an xml file for viewing all the channels? as the Zip file Capt.Fruitcake provided doesn't have one, and when I click on the view all category in watchtv I just get an error?

Can people posting links as 'working' make sure they are working in showtime and not just at the source because not all links work, some of them need information removing or swapping round, just putting them in the specified format isnt enough sometimes, thanks.

Thanks for the good work of getting these streams, would love to see SkySports back
But i did have a problem and i hope my solution can help a small number of people.
I don't have a usb keyboard where i am at the moment but if you have an android phone/tablet have a look in the market for an app called "BlueputDroid" , you can then use your android device as a bluetooth keyboard (and controller) for the ps3. I hope this may help one or 2 people

I have found most links work but bum out now and then due to 2 things.
1, The server is to fare away for me to sustain the needed bandwidth.
2, we are all watching the same porn channel with the 2 girls, on channel 69.

Can't even stream properly through 3g on my PC.
I had a couple of freezes and reboots when I exited a stream.
Never had it with showtime. Im gonna download it again and try reinstalling it.

adult category with can be turned on and off
mutliple xml hosts possible so you can add all the peeps who are hosting instead of having to choose.
no more ffwd and rwd in the streams so no crashes because of that.

with the ability to load the xmls from multiple locations will the plugin let you choose which site you are looking at or combined all into one? and if all in one does this mean we will end up with possible multiples of the same stream depending on the sources we use?

facanferff i dont know if u mentioned it before, but i came to thinking about one thing, how about a dynamic check for the channels? So for example if u add list-anime.xml to your list folder, it automatically pops up as a category in your plugin?

on a side note all channels have 2 letter country codes if and when you fill in your country code like ES for instance than country view will only show the channels with es country tag
so people making xml files please please include country tags in your xml links. otherwise this function will not work.
also if you find errors in mine than please notify me so i can correct them.

i think i've done everything the right way...
but if i navigate through the channels, genre's etc. there's just not even 1 TV-stream!?
i questioned earlier to help me and some one told me to write "http://ps3hax.net23.net/" into the box...
no success....
it even crashes very often if i navigate to a channel or genre..!!! O.o

hmm doesnt seem to be working for me now. When I go in to showtime and click on the watch tv plugin, i get a message coming up saying "temporary deactivated" with the loading logo staying on. I have tried this with two different sites with the same outcome.

Has anyone got a single channel working?? my friend has a dot com business and has been trying like hell to get this up for me, I even changed the xml to the US and tried, no errors anymore but nothing but blank screens. Can anyone tell me what to do apart from installing the Showtime with WatchTv and typing in the url. I will hook up a free private url. Am I doin something wrong or can anyone get anything to showup?

I use a combination of my own and the ones posted here. Haven't had time to merge them all together lol. although they all seem to be the same except a few channel differences.
The one thing I still can't find though is a good working stream of ESPN. It eludes me some how. I know there is ESPN 2, but ESPN would be awesome!

im thinking out of the box now, why would EPG be so hard to add.... if i can pull EPG from other sites ie.. tvguide.co.uk (as an example for uk channels) and find an american site for the channels we have, host it on 1 site with rss feeds. Couldnt we just take that rss and slap it on the bottom?

A friend of mine on here sent me an edited watchtv file (with new website) to me, so I put it on my USB pen can someone tell me how to transfer this to where it needs to go, I think it can be done using a file manager or can someone talk me through the ftp process that is discussed on post #64 as I do not have a keyboard to type in the website
n00b here.... Dont know what part of the world the guy thats been helping me out yet so if anyone can help me while I wait for him to get back to me

doesn't work i only get sound no picture and the rtmp stream changes everytime

A lot of that could be because where your live and where your dragging the feeds from. ITV is the Uk, and may stutter in remote locations that don't have the bandwidth needed. I'm on a 50meg and some channels still stutter or not work so its a hit and miss that it works some time and not other times.

The sky sports we are using is also from the uk streamed from the virgin network, which I'm on.
hence why its not working very well outside the uk, but virgin are on it now due to a large network spick outside the UK, so its asking for the smart-card on some channels now and then. lol

I build houses, all this dev_hdd0/ whatever/whatever is like japanese to me unless I'm talked or given a noob step by step guide
Basically its like teaching someone to drive, cant just say start her up/clutch/into first gear/accelerate/release clutch/move and expect a person to be able to drive
Ahhhhh should have done computers instead of becoming a bricklayer/stone mason lol

you need to ftp to ya ps3 then hhdo then you see pluggins see watchtv open it then put ya site in like this it shud be {

ya Leeuk it does look exactly like you have (I opened the file) I just dont know how to FTP so I thought I'd try put it in via USB pen and a file manager, so I'll have to go try learn how to FTP, unless anyone can give me a fast step by step guide on how to FTP it! I know exactly what has to be done I just dont know how to do

its virgin medias system and we are trying to steam a channel that moves all the time. we are seeing what people see if they remove their viewing card from their digi box, and as we cant jump around the frequencies like they can, so we are stuffed until we find all the feeds.

multi rtmps won't change this i think because the rtmp streams change everytime but i can test it and tell if it work

Sky streams are the ones to look at, as they dont do the same like virgin and swap around. my m8 uses his dads account though his xbox360 with 3 others and they all work well with no freezing.

Wow. I was up and running in less than 2 minutes! I'm using you guys' http://ps3hax.net23.net/ and other than the fact that a bunch of channels are not loading (I assume it's since I'm not in the UK and I'm connected via wifi instead of hardwire) things are going great! Thanks again for all the support in this thread. Now it's just a matter of tinkering and finding the channels that work for me. Thanks again!

the league games are divided betwenne sport tv 1 and sport tv 2, if 2 major clubs play at same hour they use both.

Johnny your wireless link to your computer is higher than your internet connection, so you should be ok with it, keep trying the same channels again, because the feeds are not going off its just the network and the way things are when we are dragging continuous files across the net, see if you can go though a proxy sever, or use opendns and use theirs.
