• Emulators, PS3 Hacks , 25.09.2011

Team Emulatemii has given us an update to their N64 emulator. They’ve recently stated that the N64 emulator is nearing completion, and after fixing a couple of minor errors, it will be released. However they do say that they’re also busy with other things, so it is progressing at a low pace.

The Wii64 port to PS3 now has a near-complete hardware renderer since our last post. However, the dynarec needs some work to run on a 64bit PPC architecture. The Pure Interpreter core has little (if any) performance increase over the Wii running the same core, so PS364 really needs the dynarec.

Great news indeed. Stay tuned for more exciting updates with us @PS3hax :)

ONE OF THE BEST GAMES EVER MADE!!!!!!!!

Me and my mates used to play this for hours on multi player!! Just running around shooting each other!! I even bought an N64 off eBay a while back, purely for that game!!

Lets hope once it is completed some other people get on board and make it as good as the SNES and Mega Drive emu's!!

EmulateMii has done wonders with their Wii64 and WiiSX (psx) emulators for Wii. Although these emulators are far from perfect running on the Wii, I think that the PS3 hardware will further the development of these emulators, the PS3 is a much powerful machine over the Wii. We were suppose to see an update of the emulators for the Wii but that hasn't happened yet. I saw a post a few months ago of EmulateMii looking for someone to help them with the dynarec, if they cannot get the dynarec worked out then this emulator is sol. The controls will be fully customizable so don't worry about that.

A while back EmulateMii did announce a secret emulator they were working on, which hasn't been revealed yet, then the PS364 emulator was announced. I wonder if there is still another emulator in the works, or if the secret emulator is in fact the PS364 emulator?

Finally, there is our secret project which we mentioned last summer. It’s still in the works, but you won’t see it until after the next Wii64/WiiSX betas…
There hasn't been an update for the emulators since last year.

Maybe I'll finally have a reason to put my original xbox back in the closet now. I've been hoping for an n64 emu for so long and I almost thought this project was dead.

People don't seem to understand that these tasks aren't easy. Sure the ps3 is more than capable of running wii games even but without all of the proper documentation, not being able to use the official sdk & large teams it gets harder now factor in that these are hobbyist dev's. If they were on payroll this would come even faster but they still have day jobs to pay the bills. You want to play games when you get home from work, maybe they do too? This **** aint easy guys.

As for a dreamcast emu... one thing at a time. I'd surely be the happiest camper ever with a dc / xbox 1 emu but let's take what we can get for now.

Yeah, I was wondering about that too. Do you guys think that you can get something like this -http://www.amazon.com/May-Flash-Controller-Adapter-Nintendo-64/dp/B002B9FIUU - connected to the PS3 so you can play games with your old N64 joysticks?

easy the ps3 has all sorts of extra buttons then the n64 did so should be easy to make the layout suit for any n64 game, wouldnt hold my breath on this as ive prayed for this since the start and just ended up buying a n64 with 007 lol. wee retro shop in the town cost me $25 not bad

Lol I may do the same... when I first started checking out the PSP scene I was so excited to see and N64 emulator. But I really hate playing games on a little screen with choppy frame rate when I could spend less then 100 bucks and get the original system. Don't get me wrong id love to play N64 on my PS3 but it seems like it is turning out to be the same situation on the PS3 front...

Its a shame they havent even contacted those who donated to say what they are doing with the money, or how the progress is going.

Hopefully with IngPereira's dynarec we should see improved emulators in the not so distant future.

Umm clearly the meaning of donation is lost to you. I do not backup the devs for the way this is handled but to complain saying you gave a donation and them stealing is just wrong in many ways. As defined a donation is a "gift". I think that "stealing" was a poor choice of words.
Now I do believe they owe some explanation but not accuse of stealing. Just my 2 cents.

It is not a gift. I am giving money to a project or a cause.

According to your perception of the word 'donation', the people who donated to Geohot's legal fund, had no reason to be mad, when he caved in and pocketed their money to buy some new clothes. Which they did, because he did....guess they had the same reasoning when they 'donated' also...

Again you are lost if you think they "stole" your money. Attached is a screen shot of a simple Google search of the definition of "donation". Take your pick, synonyoms= gift or how bout the legal definition (2nd link in photo) "gift".
This is the reason so many good devs don't ask for donations because it makes little kiddies think if they give a donation they are entitled/owed something in return.
Now if they said you get something special for donating and you didn't get it then you can complain, but then again it wouldn't be considered a donation.

fixed for you

He's got a point, I think it's more of a limit of language on the internet. Clearly taking donations for anything that isn't going to be carried out to any genuine effect is basically stealing.

It's like doing something for a charity and taking donations then not doing the thing you said you were going to do or not putting your heart into it.

Maybe not stealing but it's hardly righteous and gives the whole "donations" thing a bad name affecting lots of people.

So maybe worse than stealing.

It's like doing something for a charity and taking donations then not doing the thing you said you were going to do or not putting your heart into it.

Maybe not stealing but it's hardly righteous and gives the whole "donations" thing a bad name affecting lots of people.

So maybe worse than stealing.
Don't get the part where you edited my quote. Has nothing to do with anything. Also what's the point to add that to my quote...lol

Anyways I think you are confused also. Your analogy doesn't really have any ground comparing to charities. First donating to a dev for a project is far from a charity. Where a charity is for a cause and to donate to a dev isn't really a cause. Where does it say what your donation will be used for when donating to the Dev? When donating to a dev it does not imply he owns anything or has to give you special treatment and it doesn't mean that the donation will have to be used as YOU see fit, its up to the dev to use where they like to.
Bottom line is if you can afford or going to complain about the donation then you really shouldn't be donating.
Again I do not backup the devs for the way they handled this nor do I even know who the hell they are. I just wanted to clear up the confusing when someone said they were "stealing" and that they aren't stealing.

I dont want this thread to get hung up on the whole donations thing, but:

http://emulatemii.com/wordpress/?page_id=66

Donations help the team by allowing us to purchase hardware which we wish to support in our projects such as various controllers, adapters, cables, SD Cards, and other development tools or devices we may wish to support or get requests to support. Also, the donated funds are what keep this website up and alive, without the support of the initial donators, this wonderful site wouldn’t have even come to be, so please, if you are feeling charitable, feel free to help support us by making a donation. No sum is too small, every little bit helps.

Please note that while this fund is intended to provide us with a few tools that will aid in the project’s development, it will likely not speed up any future releases of ours, because you must remember that we are working on the project for free in our (limited) free time.
The donations aren't even Wii64/PS364 specific, and they DO have a disclaimer stating that it wont necessarily speed up development: it could take them untold years to complete it...

If you read all that, and still donated, you really have no grounds to complain.

yeah cuse a donation is cool..u choose to do so and dont expect (hope..maybe a little..) something in return, there's apps that works for years after putting a donation, meaning updates and whatnot e.g driver detective/dvd-rebuilder, the last project i should check cuse it's a long time since doing that hobby...but i choosed to donate a little for the great projects, my own choise, great he gives me all updates....but i wont complain either way, then again these projects all see the day of light, this however isn't sure and stuff, never hear anything from it so a donation? not realy, maybe if there's a Beta or something, people can try and help the guy out in making it kicking ass on ps3

payment for service is something else..like this guy and his pay forum...
http://forum.xentax.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=9571

see a donation here would/might help him instead of begging for cash to grab his unpack toy..anyone have it? but giving this for free to users, a couple might for real donate something..10bucks,5bucks,1buck its all good...this example should be banned from creating forums...

then we have another cenario, its luring u into paying for premium crap
