    The recent ToS change for the PS3, makes you waive your legal rights, has a 30 day Opt Out clause, You must send Sony a letter within 30 days of agreeing to the ToS

    Washington attorney Thomas Buscaglia, who specializes in games

    States “”This really sort of sucks because it is doubtful that any individual could afford to sue them,” explained Washington attorney Thomas Buscaglia, who specializes in games. “Not sure how enforceable it will be, but I think it it would be really cool if gamers started to circulate a form opt out rejection of these terms and mailed them in.”

    “If you do not wish to be bound by the binding arbitration and class action waiver in this Section 15,” reads the Terms of Service, “you must notify SNEI [Sony Network Entertainment] in writing within 30 days of the date that you accept this agreement.”

    “This is certainly not standard practice by any standards…in fact it may well not be enforceable,” said Buscaglia. “Time will tell on that one. The US Federal Trade Commission and various state consumer protection agencies could have a problem with it. Also, some courts might not allow it to be enforced due to existing state court precedent.”

    SOURCE

    The source also confirms , at the moment, this ToS solely applies to US and does not affect EU/Australia yet.

    I suspect they are trying to live up to their slogan, “It only does everything”…

    Now screw’s you in the a$$

    Alexander Betts has pushed his project RSXGL to Github. It is a Hardware accelerated 3D graphics library for the Playstation 3 System.

    RSXGL – The RSX Graphics Library

    This library implements parts of the OpenGL 3.1 core profile specification for

    the PlayStation 3′s RSX GPU. It’s suitable for use in programs that

    have exclusive access to the RSX, such as GameOS software (and is likely

    unsuitable for implementing a multitasking desktop, as the library

    doesn’t arbitrate access to the RSX).

    Please see the STATUS file for up-to-date information about the

    current capabilities of this library.

    ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

    Many thanks to the developers of the PSL1GHT SDK and of the PS3

    homebrew toolchains.

    Props as well to the PS3 security researchers.

    Thanks to the nouveau project for the diligent NVIDIA reversing.

    We haven’t heard a lot of progskeet recently. They have just announced progskeet as solderless. On top of that, they have also announced a dual nand setup. Progskeet seems to be getting better over time.

    We are happy to introduce you the SOLDERLESS KITS for our ProgSkeet device!

    The main word is “BE FLEXIBLE” as ProgSkeet project will be the BEST TOOLKIT for the NAND and NOR flashing!!!
    We present today the NAND TOOL KITS, in few days we will be ready also with NOR TOOL KITS!!! Stay Tuned
    1 – PROGSKEET is 100% PIN to PIN compatible with the SOCKET tool sold from this site http://www.360-clip.com
    Just connect the ProgSkeet 32 pin special flat cable. (please note that this version don’t support programming or reading with out the device is powered on. A new version will be released with the VCC pad to manage NANDS with a self power provided from PROGSKEET) 360-clip.com and also us we will offer this socket in a package together with the 20 cm 32 PIN flat cable.

    2 – ADAPTOR PCB: This pcb is an adaptor from 50PIN ZIF PROGSKEET CONNECTOR (necessary for the coming “NOR SOCKET” solderless tools) to 2 x 32 PIN ZIF connector. With this adaptor progskeet is able to manage 2 NANDS on the DEVICE and also extra 2x SECONDARY NANDS (for dual nand feature). The kit include the 50 pin flat cable from PROGSKEET to ADAPTOR PCB.

    3 – NAND PCB: This “optional” pcb has a 1Gbit NAND flash on board. Progkseet is able to use it like a backup nand or switch this nand and use it instead the NAND on the board of the device. The feature called “DUAL NAND” allow to support different NANDs ONLINE and test firmwares in a easy fast way. The software will be ready soon to support this feature, user can also attach a switch to progskeet to allow a fast selection of the NANDs without using the PC tool.
    Progskeet support max 2 x NAND PCB on each ADAPTOR PCB, the kit include a 32 PIN 3CM flat cable (from NAND PCB to NAND SOCKET)

    You can see a FULL PROGSKEET KIT SAMPLE where is clear how is the complete kit with 2x NANDS PCB and 2x NANDS SOCKETS (on the picture miss one socket sorry J ) but I think the concept is clear.

    The big advantage of PROGSKEET is that can work on ANY CONSOLE / DEVICE, is study to be MODULAR and so is MUCH CHEAPER then any other solution that is specific addressed to a device.

    The nice special FLAT CABLES are also easy to be fitted inside the device without bit problems, and also the KIT is removable in few minutes and is not PERMANENT.

    We remember that PROGSKEET is an OPEN PROJECT study to be used in many kind of devices CONSOLES, SATELLITE, IPHONES, PENDRIVERS etc etc. “PROGSKEET NOTHING MORE THAN A GOOD NAND / NOR PROGRAMMER”.

    We will send tomorrow more infos and pictures regarding PROGSKEET V1.1 “CRYSTAL BLUE LIMITED EDITION” in production in these days and available in the market soon!

    Nice news also about the PROGSKEET software, that now support new nice features.

    We posted here a few days ago, regarding SCEA’s new T.O.S and the “mandatory binding arbitration” that they brought into force, now it seems that Electronic Arts(EA) have taken the same stance, in which you will not be able to play certain games until you sign the new EULA, here is a quote from the EA EULA:

    Binding Arbitration. If you and EA are unable to resolve a Dispute through informal negotiations within 30 days after receipt of the Notice of Dispute, either you or EA may elect to have the Dispute finally and exclusively resolved by binding arbitration. Any election to arbitrate by one party shall be final and binding on the other. YOU UNDERSTAND THAT BY THIS PROVISION, YOU AND EA ARE FOREGOING THE RIGHT TO SUE IN COURT AND HAVE A JURY TRIAL. The arbitration shall be commenced and conducted under the Commercial Arbitration Rules of the American Arbitration Association (AAA) and, where appropriate, the AAA’s Supplementary Procedures for Consumer Related Disputes (AAA Consumer Rules), both of which are available at the AAA website www.adr.org. Your arbitration fees and your share of arbitrator compensation shall be governed by the AAA Rules and, where appropriate, limited by the AAA Consumer Rules. If such costs are determined by the arbitrator to be excessive, or if you send EA a notice to the Notice of Dispute address above indicating that you are unable to pay the fees required to initiate an arbitration, then EA will promptly pay all arbitration fees and expenses. The arbitration may be conducted in person, through the submission of documents, by phone or online. The arbitrator will make a decision in writing, and shall provide a statement of reasons if requested by either party. The arbitrator must follow applicable law, and any award may be challenged if the arbitrator fails to do so. You and EA may litigate in court to compel arbitration, to stay proceeding pending arbitration, or to confirm, modify, vacate or enter judgment on the award entered by the arbitrator.

    A new developer in the PS3 Scene, named Franc[e]sco, has released CConsole. Homebrew Devs should definitely check this out.

    Heya, I just started learning PS3 developing and here’s my first contribution.

    I came across sconsole which is a great little snippet to print console-like text. So I decided it to make a wrapper class for it that makes it actually work like a console (you can set the line wrap width and the maximum number of lines).

    Here’s an example homebrew with source that uses my class –> Download

    *Note: i slightly modified sconsole to make it work with c++ (changed the .c file to .cpp and made the struct extern in the .h)

    Using CConsole is pretty simple:

    - Put sconsole.h, Vector2f.hpp, and CConsole.hpp in your include folder

    - Put sconsole.cpp, Vectro2f.cpp and CConsole.cpp in your source folder

    Now you can just include it and use it right away:

    Code:
        #include "CConsole.hpp"
        ...
        // (after initializing video)
        sconsoleInit(FONT_COLOR_NONE, FONT_COLOR_BLACK, res.width, res.height); // Initialize sConsole
        ...
        // (inside the main loop)
        unsigned long max_lines = 20;
        unsigned long max_width = 30;
        CVector2f position(10.0, 10.0);
        CConsole myconsole(position, max_lines, max_width);
        myconsole.write("Hello World!");

        console.draw(buffer[currentBuffer]);

    Check out CConsole.hpp for a list of all the available methods:

    Code:
        #ifndef _CCONSOLE_HPP_
        #define _CCONSOLE_HPP_

        #include "CVector2f.hpp"
        #include "sconsole.h"

        #include
        #include
        using namespace std;

        class CConsole {
        public:
           CConsole(const CVector2f &pos, unsigned long max_rows, unsigned long width);
           ~CConsole();
           void write(const char *text);
           void clear();
           void draw(s32 *buffer);

           void setMaxRows(unsigned long max_rows);
           void setWidth(unsigned long width);
           void setPosition(const CVector2f &pos);
           unsigned long getMaxRows();
           unsigned long getWidth();
           CVector2f &getPosition();

        private:
           CVector2f pos;
           unsigned long max_rows, width;
           vector rows;
        };

        #endif

    With the recent shifting around in the PS3 scene the last few months, our forums user base and traffic has significantly increased. With the inflow of many new Hax members, I have noticed an obvious clash between our old member base and the new member base.

    Many of the news threads have been trolled, derailed with the same constant topics such as “3.x keys”, “piracy vs non piracy” or simply the scene drama (which seems to be running high now-a-days). There is only a small percent of members being disrespectful and rude (mainly in news post releases), however this makes us look bad, anger developers, and takes away the values we have here at PS3Hax.

    Now before I go on let me tell you what values PS3Hax stands upon. We at PS3Hax welcome all types of members, and experience.  We try to be as friendly and helpful as possible, and get you YOUR PS3 hacking information to you as organized and helpful as possible. We welcome “free speech”, and open discussions, we are not here to punish you to have different opinions than us. I run PS3Hax because I ENJOY doing so, I am not in it for the money.

    However.

    There is a vast difference between ARGUING/FLAMING and DEBATING. Throwing insults, trolling, or just pissing everyone off is not the way to go in expressing your opinion.

    For example:

    XXXX has released XXXXX homebrew for the PS3

    Random User:

    This is a waste of time and sucks, do something useful like release 3.x keys.

    The statement above will just anger everyone – its disrespectful and rude, and this leads to flaming and thread derailment and the original release by the author is succumbed by one persons flaming. Arguments such as these hurt the scene, and ruin what PS3Hax is all about.

    The Iron Fist:

    We are now enacting something known as the Iron Fist. No we aren’t turning to Nazis or that other site, but we are becoming more strict in regards to rule violations and the usual flaming/trolling/insulting that takes place.

    Starting today all members will be forced to view a set of new and revised website rules. These rules will be now heavily enforced by moderators, and we will now be giving out infractions instead of warnings.”X” number of infractions in “X” time period will automatically earn you a ban from the forums.

    These rules and revised ban system is designed to weed out the trouble makers, and those are the people we don’t want at PS3Hax. And to prove this won’t be a ban-warzone, we have made a public appeal section for ALL BANS and INFRACTIONS, so if you have a problem with ruling a staff member gave, you can appeal it here. You can also contacted me directly here.

    Many of you have said look how good the Xbox scene, one reason the scene is “good” is because they have a very supportive user community. Respecting developers and stop the bickering is the first step in fixing all the issues with the scene. No one wants to devote working with a group of “haters”. This post is mainly dedicated to all the loyal members and developers on crew with us that simply love the PS3 scene and this is me letting you guys know that we are going to do the best to change the direction of the PS3 scene and make PS3Hax the best place to be for anyone that has passion for PS3 hacking.

    We are attempting to maintain the culture, and atmosphere on our forums that many of you fell in love with since the first time you joined us, we hope the Iron Fist policy will help enforce and maintain that.

    Feel free to leave your thoughts/suggestions/ideas below.

    PCE Emu, now here is an emulator we haven’t heard anything about in a good while.  Well, it is now at V1.40. Here’s some info of what this emulator is about for those who may have forgot or those who haven’t heard of this great emulator yet.

    PCE.emu is a PC Engine/TurboGrafx-16 emulator written in C++ for Android, iOS, WebOS and PS3. It uses the emulation backend from Mednafen and is built on top of the Imagine engine. The source is released under the GPLv3 license.

    Main Features:

    Accurate emulation and high compatibility rate (Note: Data swapped TG16 roms are not supported, see known issues below for a fix if you’re getting a black screen on load)

    Well im sure some of you have been trying to access the PlayStation network, but with difficulty, that will because the network is down, with Sony having “no idea” of when it will be back up, this throws back to memories of the whole PSN hacking fiasco, now nothing is confirmed and no reasons are given, but here are a few tweets, from the official twitter accounts of @Playstation and @PlaystationEU.

    Im personally hoping that it isn’t hacked, really want to grab my Free Resident Evil games, but if it is hacked, it is understandable, considering the nasty new TOS they rolled out and how long will it take them to tell us it is hacked.

    If it isn’t hacked, then what is the reason, comments welcome below.

    Demonhades has just released a video demoing you the JFW-DH working on 3.56 firmware.Check it out below:

    Hi hell, here I leave a video that shows the installation of 356 DH JFW MA on a 355, this version is created only for users locked into a 356 (base) that can not drop below the 356 and therefore can not enjoy the scene.

    The reason why you can not downgrade the 356, is that apart from the 356 it incorporates a second updater which is the preparatory 360.Este then would be the new way (updater2) mode unusable old (355) is why not recognize any update below.

    It’s supposed to be given to how to do down at 356 after the DH JFW 356 MA, but when tested it is only possible with a flash out of 356.

    The video shows how to use various applications such as:

    NES-Emulator

    Showtime-media player

    -Multimar

    What is not allowed to peek / poke the moment, but the pkg type psn games if the charges.

    Again, this is a special version to help people who can not lose more than 356, so you need a flasher to install it and enjoy the scene, so abstain from stupid comments about that why not do it in 355, etc.

    Thanks to Alejandro, Jaicrab, Calimba and Varicella for collaboration in this custom help, the output of this custom and delayed a bit because right now we are saturated with the 341 and prefer to postpone a little more the 356 (to address and incorporate same graph as his brother 341)

    1saludo and as I always say, this video is unique demonhades.org, this may not be copied in places eol or copied only to criticize and make visits to it (which is alluded to by whoever)

    A new Rebug CFW update is available today, bringing 3.72 spoof support. No this does not give you PSN.

    To quote:

    No sense in breaking with tradition, 3.72 Version Spoofer 2.0 is now available for 3.41 and 3.55. It works like the Rebug Selector and backs up your current files before activating the spoof, then auto reboots leaving no room for end-user error.

    PS3 Hacker, No_One contacted us a few months ago giving us a status update on his PNM project. For those of you who don’t know the PNM project is a way to find  firmware 3.6+ (I am assuming this includes 3.7+ as well) public keys, which as you know will lead to new CFW etc…

    No_One has exclusively contacted us again today bringing more updates on his latest developments. The project is now in its last stages and it is not able to power on/off the PS3 automatically. No_One also clarifies he will not be releasing the keys, but is giving YOU [or some other clever hacker] to do it (probably doesn’t want legal troubles like Geohot).

    To quote:

    Hi mates,

    I wanted to announce that PNM project has entered its last stage.
    PNM is now wired to the motherboard of a SLIM PS3 : DYN-001.
    The first results are fine. PNM is correctly powered by the PS3 itself.
    Much better, PNM is now capable to power on/off automatically the PS3.
    Firmware is choosen using a jumper.
    Here is how it will work (very soon) :
    - remove the power cable
    - place the jumper to choose Firmware #1 or Firmware #2
    - connect the power cable
    And then the PS3 starts automatically without human interaction.

    Let me clarify some points read here and there.
    I never promised the 3.6+ public keys !
    I just said that PNM will allow to find them nothing else.

    This project is a hobby. I work as fast as I can.
    Please stop the lame remarks concerning the delay !

    I will come back soon with the final video demonstration.

    Cheers

    No_One

    Pictures (click to enlarge):

    Great news indeed, always nice to see there are people doing work progressing the scene instead of constant arguing :)

    Stay tuned for more exclusive updates and news only @ PS3Hax :)

    ThatOtherDev, known for many entertaining homebrew games has just updated his popular game They Do Not Die to v0.5. This brings awesome new features such as co-op play.

    I had added corpses and blood but I’ve removed them because I don’t know how to make them fade away progressively and I find it extremely distracting seeing them just disappear instantly (for performance reasons there needs to be a limit on how many can exist at any given time). If anyone knows how to go about doing that I would greatly appreciate an example of it. Basically what I’m looking for is the PSL1GHT equivalent of glColor4f. I assume the answer involves shaders which I am sadly fairly ignorant about making and using.

    Notable changes:
    Added two player co-op play (shared screen).
    There are now cars and boxes scattered around the city.
    Data is stored more efficiently in game saves and as a result of that saving and loading is faster.
    The shotgun is more powerful.

    PS3 controls:
    Left analog stick = Move
    Right analog stick = Aim
    L1 = Fire the rocket launcher
    R1 = Fire the machine gun
    L2 = Fire the shotgun
    L3 = Run
    Start = Pause
    X = Select something in the menu

    Sony is rolling out with PS3 firmware 3.72 shortly tonight.

    Changelog:
    A new PS3 system software update, v3.72, will be released soon. With this minor update, system stability during use of PS3 format software and network services has been improved.

    Maybe this will affect downgrading? Looks like we will have to wait and see.
