• PS3 System Software Update 3.72 Coming Soon

    Official Firmware, PS3 Hacks , 19.09.2011

    Sony is rolling out with PS3 firmware 3.72 shortly tonight.

    Changelog:
    A new PS3 system software update, v3.72, will be released soon. With this minor update, system stability during use of PS3 format software and network services has been improved.

    Maybe this will affect downgrading? Looks like we will have to wait and see.

      Another 'useless' update but it will still be an obstacle to overcome (no mater how major or minor) when new games get released with new keys and maybe, someday, way way down the line if we ever get psn access (not that I really want it anyway lol).

      If 3.72 blocks downgrading, we're kinda screwed for the moment. So, IMO, whoever has cracked the keys need to work hard at busting the ps3 wide open to the point where sony can never patch it again. i guess this is where the root keys are involved. My question is, is this scene ready to work together for the common goal of screwing sony? Are we all tired of the things Sony is doing? i know i am. We all have one common enemy. it's sony. let them have psn. all we want is the right to play new games without having to always update and agree to their unfair TOS. Am i right or do i stand alone?

      It's to warn people interested in downgrading but just haven't gotten around to it yet to not update to 3.72 firmware as it may screw people out of downgrading. Sony just announced tonight that it's being released, so it's news.

      i got a second ps3. that's not my problem. buying new games is not the problem. i'm thinking about the scene as a whole. all those who don't feel it's fair to keep updating just to play the new games.

      before we all panic about downgrade blocking, it needs to be tested and confirmed. we cannot assume at this point so let's chill with guessing that it breaks downgrading until we know for sure.

      I don't see how it will block downgrading unless it somehow records and sends hardware information to sony, As far as I'm concerned it's just a bluff.

      im supriced it never came out any sooner , well here we go again with people demanding 3.72 cfw also moaning that there is no 3.72 cfw out pirate moaning they cant play there pirate game (ha ha ha tough luck ) , fake 3.72 cfw links on the net bla bla bla bla . like what daflip said maybe get a 2nd ps3 just like what other been saying since 3.56 that way you get both worlds well thats if this blocks duel booting ofw/cfw , and yes you cant play newer games people but you should be used to this by now so get over it , just maybe once the ps3 has a proper good update with stuff worth in it eg ( it makes you ps3 fly lol ) then maybe a new cfw will come out but i wouldnt count on that iver . this is what in doing deul booting my silm ps3 with cfw/ofw but i know there is a chance it will be blocked one day , so just incase i also got 2 fat ps3 1 on cfw and 1 on ofw , so i never be screwed iver way .

      The firmware updates are coming strong from Sony, Makes me think (IMO) that some of the Devs may have jumped ship and have given all the loopholes to Sony which they are patching with each Firmware update.
      Like I said this is IMO.
      Looks like the PS3 Scene can be declared well and truly at the bottom of the sea.
      (A part of me wants to think otherwise but I think we need to wake up and smell the coffee).

      Thank god...no one will ask for 3.70 CFW anymore (now they will ask for 3.72 CFW).

      If Sony is actually fixing some of the MANY bugs in gameOS, I really have no problem with that. It is still less stable than it was before those clowns removed OtherOS, so it is in serious need of some bug fixes. Too bad that every 10K sony bugfix has to come inside a full firmware package.

      I am on 3.70 FW. Does anyone know of a bypass to sign into PSN without upgrading to 3.72 FW? The 67.202.81.137 DNS trick doesn't seem to be working for me, I get a DNS error.

      Not entirely, yes you can have the 2nd ps3 on ofw, but you still have to agree to their silly TOS! That is that problem here. If you sign it then technically you are obliged to remove the cfw from your 2nd cfw ps3.

      So in the highly unlikely event that sony find out, they'll take you to court over it :P Of course you can have the defence that you did not agree to the TOS and someone else did it, that's where a brother or sister or kids come in useful :P Cos there is no proof that you yourself agreed to it.

      Now if that silly geohot hadnt had such a big ego and lied, then I sure he'd be working on this right now, in fact if I was him I would have carried on working but released the info anonymously. And I dont see many hackers coming together as as we have seen quite a few of them are in it for the fame.

      I do like concretecork's comment, because technically with every new firmware update comes a new TOS you have to agree to, so by agreeing to it you are renewing the contract and agree not to sue them again, so now everything an update comes out everyone will have to write in another letter to opt out! :D

      If this TOS doesnt hit some sense into sony fanboys I dont know what will. But we all have seen how sony have slowly shown exactly how much they (dont) care about their loyal customers. And a company that doesnt care doesnt get my money, and the next gen console I will be getting with be an xbox or hopefully another company will see the large group of people who have left sony but do not really like the xbox and create their own gaming console.

Put more pressure on devs. atleast hackers like geohot is getting paid by sony now. MS style paint games will never get paid for their work that therefore is useless.

      Can we sue Sony for blackmail?

      We do not agree to their new TOS, without which we cannot install the latest fw which mean no online, but also mean no new game compatibility, no bluray updates. I basically makes your PS3 a paperweight. I for some did not spend £300 to OWN a console only to have sony steal it back via these stupid TOS agreements!

      Sony are literally saying "update, or else you lose everything", if that isnt blackmail I dont know what is.

      Nobody was panicking, it's a simple rule of thumb; wait for the scene to verify you can downgrade before you upgrade. Just like the warning with going past 3.55+ before downgrading was even possible. It's ere to the side of caution, that's hardly panicking. It's called being smart. And look; as it turns out Sony did nothing to stop the downgrade so yay! No need to worry about it.

      you could always look into getting another ps3 or the e3 flasher and dual boot.
