    Most of you should already know what the E3 flasher is, for those of you who have been living in a cave and don’t know what it is, read this thread.

    For those of you thinking of buying it, but unsure of how easy/hard it is to install Chris from ChrisTechTV has released a video tutorial on how to install the E3 Flasher.

    At the moment the E3 flasher only supports flashing NOR consoles, so here is a compatibility list:

      yep and its require 2 hdd.1 for cfw 3.55 and another for ofw 3.72

      So in order to switch from OFW to CFW you just have to pop one HDD out and put the other one in?

      Thats IF you want to log on to PSN too. You'll have onee HDD with CFW and the other with OFW+PSN. If you just want to have CFW and no psn I guess you could just use your one HDD. but who would wana do that? lol HDD these days aren't too expensive

      I think there is a little more than that. but the concept of it is that you replace one HDD with whatever firmware you wana go in then theres a switch or button that initiates the flasher to go into CFW or back to OFW.

      the current version of e3 doesn't support dual booting..
      and it still dont look like it fits proper..
      I would wait for a new version

      It is announced on the E3 site that it does support Dual booting on the same console.

      progskeet is a better option since it can be used on multiple different HW devices..

      and now they release thier DUal nand chip

      Also wasnt somthing posted about the E3 only being able to flash once or 1 device?

      also you should check the progskeet site...

      E3 claims it was the worlds first dual booter & only 1 avail...

      but E3 pulled the dual boot feature & also took it off thier site...(but i guess added it back)

      plus the nand clip doesnt fit...there is a big detailed post on the progskeet forum with pics & the CONs to buying the E3.

      i for one ordered a new progskeet with the dual boot attachements, but i also have a few xboxs & ps3 i need to downgrade, so the progskeet was the best option

      i realized that the e3 does nor only (newer consoles) & the progskeet does nand (older conlsoles)

      The prize's not worth it. E3flasher + additional hd = too expensive. If you plan spending that, better add some more bills for a second new ps3 for OFW with PSN. Its just a WAY better option (even cheaper if you burn the NOR with a flasher)

      I want one SO BAD! My worry is if the dual-boot will work for me now that my 60gb died, since I currently have a slim.
      Watched the entire vid, looks pretty simple and never noticed him solder anything so the process overall is pretty noob-friendly. Almost like a pcb replacement on the slim xbox's. Another issue is waiting 3 months to actually get my hands on the E3! lol

      Canceled mine. As reported here, it seldom works and only works in one ps3 Hope they make a better version...Waiting for progskeet no solder solution

      I wonder if you can install another firmware afterwards or are you still locked to there firmware because i would love to stay on kmeaw at the moment

      I would like to say that you will NOT be locked into there CFW.
      Now before anyone gets excites I have not tried this but I will.

      Ps3 Dongle+ Psl1ght QA flag enabler + upgrade debug on + 3.41 ofw= win

      Many people know you can downgrade to 3.41 from 3.55. If your consle supports 3.41
      They clearly stateyou can use ANY. Pkg files. So you can downgrade to 3.41

      What the QA flag does is lets you input the series of button combos and unlocks debug settings

      There is a setting for removing the restrictions on lower firmware installation.


      1) Downgrade to 3.55
      2) Remove E3 flasher
      3) Instal PSL1GHT and PSL1GHT extra (package files)
      4) enable QA flag
      5) do said QA flag button combos
      6) turn on update debug
      7) enter recovery mode
      8) install 3.41 OFW
      9).....
      10)....
      11) PROFIT

      hi i have ps3 slim 3.73 latest firmware so what i would like to know is, is cech2506b safe to go ahead and do this?

      This E3 fits perfect on CECH2504 as it was their own model to show the E3. I also have the CECH2504A and this model has a spansion nor chip, so no problem to backup.

      My problem is, i got a broken unit from them.

      Hmm everything sounds right except the dongle....i don't remember there needing to be a dongle in the dual boot method, I might be wrong though.

      I only remember needing a flasher, 2 HDDs, or the other way I think was the dual flash and 2 HDDs. Again I might be wrong.

      if my ps3 model can't be downgraded to 3.55 and i try to downgrade it to 3.55 with this flasher what will happen?
      because my ps3 according to this table could be downgraded but when i use that fake update that shows the lowest firmware it shows that my base firmware is 3.56!

      From what I've gathered, you still need a dongle to put the console in factory mode. I don't remember when you need it, it's somewhere in their manual at their site: http://www.e3-tech.net/download.html

      Every time you downgrade, you need to format you HDD, that's why the 2 HDDs are handy, but you still need to change the fw by flashing the NOR.

      Honestly, I don't know if you can just flash back to ofw 3.55 and remove the E3. The hardware feels rushed, not even the fact that's solderless makes me afraid of using it.

      What's taking the Progskeet guys so long to release a NOR clip?

      I think you need the dongle to enter service mode so you can downgrade.
      the e3 only does the chip,I think you will still need dongle to downgrade the firmware from ofw

      I might be wrong

      I just installeede the e3 flasher.
      But i made it to that point where they say i need a downgrade jailbreak devic to enter service mode.
      Is this possible to do in any other way ? Or do i need a dongle or an psp with homebrew app jig ?

      But...but....i cant even get a bios backup :D
      Why this dude doesnt show the flasher work on this console whit spansion NOR? he got some problems after installation?

      Just letting everyone know that I haven't abandoned the E3 Flasher downgrade tutorial. I am having a few problems and I am talking with the creators of the E3 flasher. I think there may be something wrong with my E3 Flasher. In the mean time I am checking and re checking all the connections.

      Hi everyone,
      i've a CECH-2504B PS3 with Samsung NOR.
      Even if i use the new upgrade for Samsung NOR, the NOR backup doesn't work. I have the 10001100 error.
      Does someone have a way to do this for this model, please ?
      I've sent an email at E3 site but didn't have answer.

      Use the min. version check pup.

      If it says 3.55 or lower, then you can downgrade.

      Oke i hope someone can help me on this forum because im looking for ever for a answer to this question. Is it possible to downgrade with E3 flasher without a dongle and just with the TF card that you can place on the E3 Flasher?

      I hear some say it is possible to do it without and others say you have to use a dongle.
      If i really need one with one should i buy?
