So the US and Canada get it almost 90 cheaper than the UK and likely all other territories (299.99 USD = 193.249 GBP according to xe.com) and with 3 times the amount of launch games... way to screw 80% of the population $ony, I really do hope you get your fingers burnt (again).

lol you act surprised, those of us that don't have the US Dollar as currency, really do get screwed on price, but is it really Sony's fault, or is it our greedy governments fault ?

Well our government had nothing to do with the launch line up, and they also pay tax in the US and Canada, so who would you blame?

isnt a lot of it due to the way taxes are paid? in UK we pay 20% VAT. im not sure how the US deal with this

It is not Sony's fault the US dollar is the worlds "most trusted" form of currency. The dollar is just worth more than the rest of the world's foreign currency.

That may be the case, but we all know $ony are greedy and favour the US and Canada due to high sales rates (larger area = more population to fleece in one go), and as for the games line up... they'd blame it on localisation (all the different EU languages) slowing up production, but they forget that, that excuse doesn't really cut it in the UK, and that its just them being lazy.

Lol. You are educated way more than I am on this subject, but I believe the only reason the US is not in another depression is because we can just keep printing dollars, since our money is accepted just about anywhere, people trust the dollar.

If our money was not trusted, our money-printing practices would come to a halt, right?

Yes, I have a very basic understanding.

In the UK, Vodafone is the company of choice, though they will sell you the console without contract, but if you do take a contract, you will get a downloadable version of Wipeout for free.

I thought I read AT&T was going to offer the service. Kind of how they were the only telecommunications company offering the iPhone.

The import tax is a joke here in Brazil.

      PSP = u$ 470 (R$ 969); Ps3= u$1000 (R$1999);Base/minimum salary= u$ 330 (r$620).

PSVITA= dont care, will be overpriced.

That awkward moment when it's cheaper to make a trip to the US to buy the item you want than buying it in your own country.

There are 16 countries whose currency are much more trusted than the US's. This includes Australia and the United Kingdom.

One of the reasons why Sony charges so much in these countries is because they can. We will still pay for these items. The PS3 has been much more expensive in Australia than in the US even though the AUD is stronger than the USD. There could be other factors such as our minimum wage being double yours.

Maybe at one point, but now it's not backed by "precious metal". Now it's just paper with a "it's worth this much" stamp. America was robbed by the banking institutions. What happened to all the gold and silver that used to back "our" money? Had to quote "our" because it is an illusion. As of posting this $1 usd = .7727 euro

the price of the psp in the uk comes down too how much someone is willing to pay for it. If they slap a price tag with an extra 90 on it and people still buy it. well blame the people who accepted the price hike and still thought it was good enough to buy. Me personaly wouldnt pay that, maybe would asses it as 120 device but would buy it, if priced at 70. So all the chums that paid for this over priced item deserve to be screwed by apple and good luck lol

Posting a FAT PS3 from US to Europe costs $75, not $4 (I know because I got my CECHA imported from the US :P). Also by making a trip there meant travelling there, spending one or two nights at the hotel etc... Of course this only applies to Brazil with their horrendous taxes.
That sayd, even with $75 shipping it was still cheaper to get the PS3 from the US back then... lol. However for the PS3 there is a region lock for DVDs, Blu-rays and PS1 games (and region lock is only here to make it not worth it for the customers to get the PS3 imported while paying cheaper, so that they can charge more on certain countries).

I wanted to by this system when I first saw it announced. There are a lot of features I like that are worth the consumers time to purchase it. However, in the end the $ for what you get is unjustifiable. The fact you can't even change out the battery with the system being priced that high is borderline theft to the consumer; add to that the high price of proprietary memory and most titles priced higher than 3DS top line software makes this a hard sell for Sony. So like when the 3DS launched, I shall wait and see what happens; as I believe analysts are correct within the first 6 months a price drop is going to occur as most people are happy with their current handhelds and smart phones/tablets.

its a shame this constant update world where we can't just rollback at will it really is dumb and restrictive..

Typical American. Clearly has no idea on foreign currency or anything else that doesnt happen in the US.

      Way to stereotype Americans.

I am not the typical American by any means. You should stop analyzing/criticizing; you should realize what I am and start epitomizing. K?
