Not long after the PS Vita was released, Teck4 a PSP hacker/developer, found an exploit on the PS Vita within the PSP Emulator, now this is awesome news, but it does not mean the PS Vita is hacked, it simply means that an exploit has been found solely on the PSP section only.
The hello world is adapted from the Sparta SDK, which was created by PSP Developers Matiaz and Freeplay.
Mamosuke who reported the hack last week, created a video to proof the exploit existed and today Wololo updated his website with information and released a video of proof, here is a quoter from the source:
Last week, an exploit on the PS Vita through the PSP emulator was announced by Mamosuke. The exploit was found by Teck4, and, we won’t stress it enough, is a PSP exploit that gives us user mode access within the PSP emulator on the Vita. So this is not a Vita exploit per se, but it’s still very cool. Mamosuke confirmed this with a video a few days ago, and today I was able to confirm the exploit myself as shown in the video below (and I must admit that I spent way too much time working on that basic flame effect). The video below shows the exploit running on both a PSP 1000 and the PS Vita.
I spent a good amount of time today confirming some of my hopes that it will be possible to run HBL, at least to some extent, with that exploit. It doesn’t mean I have ported HBL to the Vita yet, but I have strong hopes this will be possible. A handful of hackers are working on bringing HBL to the Vita (I won’t mention their names here as I don’t know if they want to be contacted on the subject), and it should be “relatively” easy to get something to work fairly soon. (It should be noted though that the Vita is quite sensitive and crashed on me several times when it went into “sleep” mode from the exploit screen… from there – am I just paranoid? – it seems it is impossible to reboot the machine for almost 10 minutes, which made me think I had bricked my vita… could it be a anti-hacking security? If the console detects several crashes, it takes longer to boot, in order to prevent brusteforce types of attacks?)
I won’t discuss any release yet, it doesn’t depend on me only (this is, after all, Teck4′s exploit), but if I have my opinion to give on the subject, I would suggest to wait until the Vita is released in Europe and in the US. This gives us some time to polish HBL on this device, and hopefully the vulnerabilities we use to run HBL won’t have been patched by then.
This is of course just a challenge with little to no practical interest… once we publicly reveal the exploit (in particular, the game used in it), it will be extremely easy for Sony to patch it (or remove the game from the Playstation Store), so probably only a few people will be able to benefit from it… but only time will tell, there is still hope, after all, that Sony doesn’t care about a tool that allows us to run user mode psp homebrews in a sandboxed emulator.

Great news! The more advancements I see the more I want one. Hopefully by Feb we'll have "something special" up and running.
We win AGAIN.

Wouldn't it be smarter to release the exploit, or news of the exploit, when the device hits more markets?

If the Vita wasn't so huge and overpriced I'd totally be onboard once I could play my PSP backups.
Also, lol @ ad placement (see attachment)

well that can allow for psp homebrew... not vita homebrew, but its cool
also i thought it was confirmed from the beginning

Would be awesome to get HBL on it. PSP homebrew sure, but there are some cool PSP homebrews out there and that could be useful.

Honestly the smartest thing they could do from a business perspective is to leave it in.
. They are almost awesome again. ALMOST. U.X
First, alot of the devs out there. You know the people who dont care about piracy wont really need to open up the vita if they can execute their emulators and what not on it. And with the PS Suite SDK coming out soon, they will be able to create their own games too.
Being a beta tester for the SDK, i can assure you that we are being heard about what will feel will make the PS Vita successful. Sony is actually starting to approve of indie homebrew type applications, and they are actually taking it a bit farther than other companies with PS Suite. You develop the game once, and it runs on the tablets, android smartphone and the vita. And thats just right now. Im actually happy with sony, except the fact that they support SOPA. >

No hacks or mods are useless, why is there so much negativity? This mod will allow you to toss your PSP, and move up to the Vita, and you can still play your PSP backups.
It's the same thing with the 3DS, only DSi mode has been hacked, not the 3DS mode. So DSi flashcarts work with the 3DS, we can play all the DS backups on the 3DS, while patiently waiting for the 3DS games to become compatible, and if it never happens then oh well. I've not seen too much complaints and negativity in the Nintendo community as I see here.

It's nice that hackers are happen to hack away at the PS Vita when not many sales have been made and it isnt even available in Europe or even the USA, thereby allow $ony yo patch and remove features from it before the rest of us have a chance to grab one.
All the while the PS3 sit idly by waiting for someone to violate it :P
I honestly do not get hackers, PS Vita down before launch, then a few days after a new update was released. The PS3 noone cared, well some did but then told $ony how to fix it! so 4 years went by before something happened the public would use, but required purchasing a dongle! That gets patched and we have to wait another year for a new dongle, which also has to be purchased.
Oh well I guess it's a good thing the next console I will be buying will not be a $ony console, but a M$ one where the scene is alive, and free!

They won't leave it there, trust me, it will be patched in the next version...
12-24-2011
01:42 PM
That would be sweet to have PSP Iso support while wait for the Vita to be cracked open... but you can bet the exploit wil be patched and you will have to choose between playing new PS Vita games or your PSP back ups...
12-24-2011
03:28 PM
it will be the same problems we get on the ps3, newer games will require newer firmware updates and so on.
12-24-2011
03:44 PM
if it's get patched that it was expected, but there is no way back now, once when system is hacked its over, just like ps3 and 360 and every other console or handheld
