Ten days ago Sony released the PS Vita, ten days ago, they also released firmware update 1.50, today they release firmware version 1.51, here is a horribly translated quote from the changelog:

Meanwhile in the other side of the PS Vita scene, PSP Developer Wololo discovered this update this morning, when he connected his PS Vita to his computer in order to transfer some files, in order to be allowed to transfer those files, he was met with a forceful update, no updating, no transfering files, here is what the developer said on his blog:
Today as I was using the PS Vita “content manager” in order to copy some files to the PS Vita, the content manager refused to start until I updated my firmware to official update 1.510. (This literally happened 10 minutes ago)
What surprises me is that the vita was disconnected, so I am assuming the update order came from the client on my PC (Update: confirmed. And the Vita refuses to run the content manager if the PC is not connected to the net).

So, basically, what all this security means..Is likely a dongle (well, memory card) for the vita. DRM'd of course, so you can't use clones. Useless to be reverse engineered, (as what's the point if you can't copy the files, you'd need the card first.) As it sits, ya'll can expect another TRUE-BLUE and JBKING for the PS Vita. It's a painful realization, but it's what's going to happen. Maybe we'll get lucky and get people like the supercard team to make our cards, instead of ******bag pricks who only want money. I doubt it, though. This is seriously a cash-cow for cards.
Hell, even having the vita's 'keys' would be useless unless we had the keys for the PS3 as well. And even if we did, sony could block it, since you -need- to be connected to the internet. Someone could create a spoof server, i assume, though. Which is likely what the card sellers would do. Or, at least, it'd be the smart thing (assuming it's possible) to do.

I guess I'll skip completelly Vita, not even used. I mean seriously, which company ever release it's first ever software revision for security measures? It's sick. All this proves the inability of a company to care for their costumer's quality of services and all they care is to sell a product that once you buy it, you're stuck with it and it's always-negative-future.
I am yet to understand how retarded a person can be, not caring and still buy products from Sony, he must be more retarded than Sony, and that's not my opinion, it's a mathematic fact. I see no difference on buying a Sony product and to marry a girl/guy you met yesterday on a club, your relationship is doomed to fail from the start.

^ Vita more powerful than the PS3? How do people fall for such BS marketing?? AT BEST the Vita is a PS2.5. Either way don't count on PS3 playing Vita games, or even Vita playing PS2 games. It's just not powerful enough to emulate them, that's why they have to rebuild FFX

unless i acquire a Vita for free or VERY cheap there is not a chance in hell I will buy this thing.
First the lack of games that are new and not just a pile of recycled garbage port. Second you are REQUIRED to have an internet connection when connecting to a PC to check AND UPDATE to new firmware or it will not allow you to access the system or media.
What kind of BS is it when the system says no internet connection and shuts off. Heaven forbid lets say a grandparent gives a vita to a kid for Christmas and the family cant afford a monthly internet connection, oh **** kid you cant add anything to the system now.
All this to stop hacking that is inevitable on all electronics. People arent stupid when it comes to computers now, you cant stop "pirates".

i dont care at all about hacking it. (if it is possible later though i might) i am happy to have it all legit just like i was with my ps3.
i am buying it for games, no other functions like linux etc so i have no reason to complain as long as games work.
theres nothing retarded about buying a sony product. loving the company IS retarded, loving their products is not.

You/We may not care about hacking it but you don't realise that Sony's moves affects also people that don't hack it, they bring constant inconviniences to everybody because you give them the power to.
There will be a day that you'll have problems with games aswell or something related to it, like what's been constantly happening latelly with any Sony product, it's their strategy, not your fault.

Fanboyism is not a absolute reason for buying specific products. Also you don't need always to have an alternative to something, there are some situations that the street splits into just two ways, buy or not buy a product. Also 3DS is not that bad if you ask me. Even though I don't consider it a direct alternative to PSVita atleast I see it's potential in so many aspects that will never bother you till the end of it's lifecyrcle, something that is bound to constantly happen with PSVita. Having in mind the price comparison I doubt PSVita is such a worth purchase either way to even think of a purchase.

I seems obvious = A connected ps vita ->To you're PC -> Sony = Logs network again + Everything you are transferring to your PS vita = Logs are sent back to see what you are doing ! I never understood these hand held besides being portable. It is nothing compared to a PS3 / XboX /or any other game system just being portable & small do not matter. For what it's worth I've stopped purchasing Sony products directly until (if) they clean up their act. The way they're already treating their customers with the Vita, it's disgusting and I want no part in it. I will happily turn to other gaming devices.

Also I had exactly the same thought some minutes ago, SOPA and Sony are exactly the same thing.

sounds about right. lets make the vita flop like it deserves to. Sony are only good at forcing their updates on people regardless of their wishes then acting like the updates are an option, well they are only an option if features are available through their choice of not updating, which is once again ( like ps3) not the case.

i bought my ps3 for the functions it had at the time and i demand to be able to use it as such and theres nothing sony can do or say that will change that. i bought an open system and i will carry on using my open system and **** anybody that dares to try stop me.
the vita is obviously closed. i see that, i accept that, and i will buy it as such. whats wrong with that?
im not saying the company is right in certain matters, especially the way they handled otheros but the vita IS NOT the ps3. they have not removed any purchased features from it so why boycott it?

So block SONY servers in the host file, so the content transferer wont know if there's an update, and if it does know, find where it stores that infotrmation and make a tool which deletes it.

Everything in a computer is not installed simply for performace, ram is memory and is installed for short term quick access storage. That is its function. Adding more RAM will make multitasking better and large processes easier to handle as the computer will be able to store evrything in RAM and not access the hardrive, it will not increase the overall performance of the computer however, assuming the amount of RAM is not a bottlekneck.
edit: you where right about the cross game chat.
edit: I see some people metioning a 3ds hack? havent heard anything about this?

I don't see how this is a useless update. The Vita was plagued with glitches when playing games, and this fixes them.
