PS3Hax member aldostools has released a nice homebrew tool he is calling: CreatePS3EXTRA

What does it do? To quote:

It scans for the PKG, MP4 and P3T files copied to each game folder or its PS3_UPDATE folder, and store them under a PS3_EXTRA structure. When a game is mounted with multiMAN, there will be 2 BD icons on the XMB: one disc for the game itself and another with PKGs, MP4 and P3T. It should make it easier to install the game patches, DLC, fixes, and related videos.

I was waiting for somebody to make a joke about this.

Also, this tool sounds extremely useful. PS3RIP thingy could be handy for a lot of people since we all know there's never enough free HDD space. I'm very happy somebody came up with this, thanks a lot!

Hi, very nice aldotools, do you think you could, add a way to change what languages to rip? i like my games with the original Japanese VA.

even thought i speak fluid spanish i would rather have that ripped sinced its usually dubs anyways!

en,jap for me ;p

vatomalo I think there it's already with Japanese RIP patterns.
But Also you can add whatever pattern you like , just click in "patterns" button and follow how how it's done with other languages and use those *\ (folder structure) or *\yourdesiredfilesorlanguages\*
Just follow in the patterns how he used it for various language or files and apply those rules to your own customized style.
Or you can directly edit PS3RIP.cfg using notepad or wordpad and add your own patterns and save it (but first backup PS3RIP.cfg).

Did you put the PKG files for the game patches and DLC in the game's folder?
Or try creating the PS3_UPDATE folder and put the PKG files for the game there.

The program only process the folders check marked.

There is any way to add an option to remove the extra content. to cut out fat from certain games?
games like little big planet 2 and god of war collection 1 has videos unnecessary. I would like to remove it, but the extra content still there even after i deleting files

Is a good idea to automatize the process of moving all "disc additionall content" to PS3_EXTRA, is the most easy structure and the better way to add content to a disc (the only problem is the size/name of the new icons)

In the wiki i listed other "blu-ray structures", i will upload a pack with all the "fake blu-ray structures" used in the wiki later, all are exactly the same values/flags/names as listed in the wiki included icons and SFO & SFX reduced to a minimall, i had the idea to upload them lot of time ago for people to play with them (and experimenting to find hidden features), but i see people likes to play with this more than i thought, i will hurry

I think you program can benefit from this when i release the pack, you can just "inject" my structure in a game and fill the folders with stuff found in the game (or externall folders)

Btw... you dont need to look inside PS3_UPDATE... in fact, the best thing you can do with this folder is erase it (and erase the flag "u" accordingly inside http://www.ps3devwiki.com/wiki/PS3_DISC.SFB)

I tryed your app, and it was unable to find stuff inside PS3_CONTENT (in one of my fake discs that uses not-standard SFO's & SFX's reduced to a minimall) im not sure if this happens in a normal game or this can be considered a bug
The other folder where you need to look for stuff is PKGDIR

So in resume my suggestion for the app...
Look inside PS3_CONTENT & PKGDIR and move all to ---> PS3_EXTRA
Or... look for file extensions in all folders (.MP4 .PT3 .PKG) and move all to ---> PS3_EXTRA

The best approach is the second option, because there are games with stuff placed in non-standard folders (e.g. Heavy Rain contains a theme in a subfolder that cant be installed from the game... it can be said this is a "hidden" theme)

With PS3_EXTRA is very easy.... just remove the folder
With PKGDIR you need to remove the folder, and a flag inside ATTRIBUTE (inside the main PARAM.SFO)
With PS3_CONTENT you need to remove the folder, and flags from PS3_DISC.SFB

*Look at the wiki the explain of the PS3_DISC.SFB flags

Check again... if you deleted the MP4 files from PS3_EXTRA, the icon still shows but if you try to the movie it should show an error (because the movie file is not present).

Try deleting the D00? folders for the extra content that you don't want...

It enables a menu with all the PKGs that you put in a game folder, that are related to that game. So when you mount a game, you can see all the PKGs (DLC, fixes, patches, etc.) in a more attractive and organized way.

You can continue using the traditional method to install PKGs through "★ Install Package Files", if you prefer it.

You can put in PS3_EXTRA the DLC packages already included in the BRD, but also you can put the DLC downloaded to PC from PSN store (through a proxy).

Here is a simple and nice tutorial made by phantom76

10) All the pkg's should have automatically been renamed and moved to the PS3_EXTRA folder
11) Launch the game using multiman
12 ) On the xmb menu you should now see 2 disc icon's, The top disc icon is the actual game, The bottom disc icon is the dlc/update pkg's
13) Click on the bottom disc icon to see and install the dlc/updates

I recommend doing one folder at a time, The app seems to have issues with certain pkg's, I think it's due to a size issue though.

OK I think that I did my homework. Thanks sandungas your files were very helpful :-)

I have updated the package of tools for CreatePS3EXTRA and now it includes a new PARAM.SFO editor. Here is what is new:

+CreatePS3EXTRA now can find PKG files in PS3_CONTENT and PKGDIR folders, and move them to the PS3_EXTRA folder.
+The PS3_CONTENT and PKGDIR folders are renamed to avoid conflicts with the PS3_EXTRA structure.
!Due a typo in the code it was not moving the P3T files to PS3_EXTRA. Fixed.

+The PARAM.SFO editor supports SFO and SFX files.
+SFO and SFX are associated to the editor.
+Supports drag and drop and file name as command line parameter.
+Displays the ICON0.PNG/ICON2.PNG found in the SFO/SFX folder.

+The PS3RIP includes the patterns for ripping Spanish files (thanks to BahumatLord)

I want to thank to HELLCAT for his PS3SFOEdit.exe. His tool helped me a lot to test/debug the PARAM.SFO Editor.

The tools are FREE!!! Please report any bug that you find

All these tools are Win32 and require the VB5 runtime DLL.
XP users should have this already installed (if not, download & install the DLL).

That's all for now

av.-

Great stuff, thanks aldostools!
I'm having a bit of an issue with PS3 NET Server GUI 1.0.
I'm using mmCM 4.01.01 and it seems like it's able to connect but doesn't find any folders/files.
I tried the ps3serv_GUI that came with mmCM ver 04.01.00 BASE (20120204) and it seems to see them though.

Thanks for the report.

Please download the GUI again... there was a bug in the tool that was always using the port 38008. It should be fixed now.

Update 2012-02-22: Updated the PS3 FTP Client to version 1.3.
In addition to the new installer, file finder, cut & paste in v1.2, this release adds improved progress bar for FTP transfers, a new list of pending tasks, and let navigate using Alt+arrow

I have made a new toy... these are the features:

- It rips files (dummies, languages, update, etc) stored on the PS3 HDD/USB via FTP.
- New simulation mode (shows the results of a rip)
- If you have a folder with PS3 covers in your PC (eg. MCLUB jpgs), the cover is displayed when a remote folder that matches the titleid is selected (eg. BLES80608)
- Displays a column with the description of the game (based on the title id)
- It is a "full" ftp client based on wininet

Download: PS3 FTP Client 1.3 (WIP) 443 KB

It requires the VB5 Runtime DLL.

It is still experimental, some features are not complete, but at least the remote file ripper should work...

Final note: Use with care!! Remember that it touches the internal files in the HDD of your PS3.. The PS3RIP is safer.

it is a Win32 application (Windows 7, Vista, 2008, XP, 2000, ME, 98, 95). It connects to a jailbroken PS3 application that runs an FTP server (multiMAN, OpenFTP, BlackB0x, DragonFTP)
