• A while ago, a pre release of showtime v.3.4 was released, now the developer has been kind enough to provide us with Showtime v.3.4. A few quick notes:

Today marks the release of Showtime 3.4. For a list of most of the important bug fixes and features added, see the 3.4 page.

    Download the release from github.

Note: It seems Showtime still suffers from out of memory conditions now and then but I’ve not been able to pinpoint the exact cause of those issues. A few things were implemented just prior to the 3.4 release in order to mitigate the low memory problems.

With that said I though I could write something about what’s been done this year and where Showtime is going.

Im not sure, I normally just wait for the automatic pop up in multiman. I think that is cool that we have come to the stage where homebrew can update like legit sony apps. Nice one Deank!

Amazing so far. I've tried it out with a number of 720 vids and the playback is nearly flawless. This program makes staying on 3.55 worth it.

      Can this play DVD-Iso's yet?

I got some dual layer films on my Hard drive, that I just want to play directly from Showtime. It worked in an early 2010 version.

      Nice to see this updated.

Just wondering, is there any chance of random playlist support?

On my xbox with XBMC I like to just put a load of things in a playlist and select random.

i think people misunderstood me. rmvb is supported but barely. i have seasons of shows encrypted in rmvb and they play slowly. in almost any other format, they'd take up at least 4x the size but barely match the quality.
vlc plays them perfectly along with ps3media server. i would love to write the author but my ps3 is what i use for everything. typing sucks, backing up would mean sacrifing files off my external, etc

VP8 videocodec is still laggy @ 1080p/720p in youtube plugin. Support for the onscreen keyboard would be awesome.

When i play a divx encoded video "anything.avi" and i have the subtitles "anything.srt" or "anything.sub" the subtitles do not show at all. i've activated subtitles in options and nothing... anyone??? please... are the names exactly the same? if so, try taking out the space from the name.
i remember trying subs to no avail once but it was just curiosity. most vids i get now have them in the video if needed

I see a lot of posts here regarding bugs or feature requests, so I thought I should mention that (AFAIK) Showtime's author does not read/post on these forums, so none of these suggestions or bug reports are getting to him.

However, Showtime does have it's own forums, so if you're interested in contacting the author or reading other people's discussions of that piece of homebrew, check out the forums here:

If you have multiple subtitles for different languages, they might look something like, "movietitle.srt.eng", "movietitle.srt.rus", "movietitle.srt.ger", etc.. Delete the language extention for the .srt file you want, so that "movietitle.srt.eng" just reads "movietitle.srt", and it should play with no problem.

*EDIT: On a side note, I can't get Showtime v3.4 to install on Rebug 3.55.2 for some reason. When I tried installing over Showtime v3.0 it just disappeared from the XMB, I tried installing again and got nothing. I tried both .pkg files.

      I had no problem re-installing v3.0...
