I have no idea of french, but for the translation of this screen:
On the top you have the "target" .SFO
At the bottom is the "source" .SFO

What the program does is to take some values from "source".... and adds them to the "target" (more exactly, ACCOUNT_ID, PARAMS... and maybe PARAMS2)

This is the reason you need one of your game saves games (to be used as the "source") to extract this values from it

Its not a literall translation , but i think the idea of "source"--->"target" is more accurate

Btw... this "trick" will not work for 90% of the game saves, the problem here is PARAM.PFD is supervising PARAM.SFO, so if you modify PARAM.SFO... the savegame will display as "corrupt" in 90% of the games

tried this with 2k12 roster update, game loaded and it did not show the incorrect roster file error so i guess the tool did unlock it but when checking.. the rosters was not updated.

All i know is in the ps3devwiki page i linked in my previous message (the PARAM.PFD one)... but is a mess, and my english is bad, and more important... the structure is very complicated, filled with signatures, 3 tables, and something like a "virtuall index" shared between the tables
I hope this kind of apps will push people to break this file

By now the only program that can manage PFD files (it seems the program can rebuild them) is the one i pointed here:

Hi erm no offense of anything but if this program is for CFW only its kinda pointless as you can simply edit save files to work using comgenie or another FTP type application (blackbox etc.) , it does not seem to work for official firmware (maybe I'm doing something wrong?), I think at this moment in time this is only possible with xploder ultimate edition but don't quote me on that.... So what exactly is the point of this program if it does not bring any new functionality to my ps3 (not hating just saying)

From what I understand about this app your english translation is pretty accurate, but I think it will be even more so if you go for that option someone suggested (for the compatibility tab): "target", "source" and then "make compatible using source's ID". That will make it even more understandable than the original french version.

As for the "protection" tab, I'm not sure since I don't know much about .sfo files, so this should be confirmed by the dev behind this, but I believe it's more about "ID lock" and then "Lock" - "Unlock" than "Protect", "Unprotect". Again, maybe [MENTION=198413]corwin75[/MENTION] will soon give us a more detailed explanation that'll make the translation easier.

What does ftp programs blackbox and comgenie have to do with this save editor? Those ftp programs can't lock / unlock game saves or edit psn id's.

No this does not require cfw to use.

The whole point of CFW save editing is theres no need to edit any files when hacking a game save you just replace the required files with the ones you want minus the ones that store any form of psn or console ID

you can hack locked or unlocked save files without the need of hacking on CFW using either comgenie or FTP programs (source I own a cfw ps3 and have done this myself many times, so allow n00b comments if you have no idea what you're talking about)

And on OFW on the majority of games you will receive a "save corrupt" message using this program hence rendering it useless. Only answer to a reply if you are clued up on the scene otherwise don't bother

Wow you should take a clue on you're own advice. The point of this program is to edit on the PC and not having to do it on the PS3 which if you where is F***ing stupid to be honest because you download the save it would be on your PC already so take hex editor out and do what you need to do.

Haha you are clearly a n00b, if you have CFW and half a brain cell you would be aware that to hack a game save there is absolutely no need whatsoever to hex edit any files to do so, you simply replace all the files with the ones you want but leave PARAM.PFD and PARAM.SFO alone and the save simply works as these are allready tied to your console and ID, without the need of rebug. I'm sure another member would happily confirm this as you clearly don't have a clue what on earth you're talking about. Replacing the files doesn't work with all saves. When you said "The whole point of CFW save editing is theres no need to edit any files"

Having cfw or ofw makes no difference you can replace/edit the saves on cfw or ofw and you will get the same results.

Oh and I've been doing the replace files a long time,

The creator of the program "Corwin75" should be able to tell you that, but I think this is only used to edit game saves so that they are compatible with your system ex: using game saves that aren't yours.

It's very nice program, just there is a problem:it can't edit ID...i have my saves of us version of one game and i really need to open it on eu version of that game and because of pfd file editing param.sfo doesn't helps me...hope you add this feature soon cuz as far as i know it is the only program who edits pfd too, on devwiki they say the structure of pfd is unknown...

the guy who said it can't unprotect castlevania:castlevania is not protected...just a few games like heavy rain have protection
