PS3HaX member Nicolas19 brought us the awesome news today, that the eBoots for two popular PS3 games have been fixed/cracked to work on 3.41/3.55 firmwares, without the need of that diseased True Blue dongle.

Ive tried it with FFXIII-2 Asia, and it hangs when it asks if i want to update....
Gotten past the update screen, by pressing circle really fast. But now it gets stuck on a garbled square enix screen.

I am glad that these have been released and I don't mean to be a pessimist, but without knowing the hackers purpose we are basically in the same situation, sans the $$$ part.
Our goal, I think, is to free our consoles from any party that wants to control it and without us knowing the method this hacker can now be in control. Don't get me wrong, anything that stands to rid us of TB can be nothing but good in my eyes, but ultimately I don't think this is proper answer.
Still, as I said, I'm grateful he did release them, as I'll be grateful for whatever else he releases. If not the method, at least I wish we could know his intentions.

Maybe my logic is wrong but, I believe if someone released the method used by TB/DUPLEX/Anon Chinese/Etc... then two or three things would probably happen...
1 - All games up to date would be playable on CFW, hurray! xD.
2 - "Sony" would know what the hell was happening, so now they can easily patch future games.
3 - PS3 scene would be stuck again until new method appears.
So in my point of view, if someone keeps releasing "free" game patches, without posting the method, that would mean a win for the ps3 scene.
In that case the PS3 scene would become like a religion: "Pray to the anonymous hacker to release more patches, have faith".
Anyway, here is a "simple theory" (that could be just garbage) for others with more knowledge than me, this is "probably" how the Chinese are getting these patches...
1 - Get / Buy original 3.7x+ game disc
2 - Open up PS3 with 3.7x+ OFW
3 - Connect device to dump "active" memory
4 - Insert original 3.7x+ disc to PS3
5 - Run the game
6 - Start dumping "decrypted" memory
7 - Get decrypted "EBOOT" and other "SPRX" from dump
Maybe my theory is all f'ed up LOL, but at least I try to come up with something xD

Dont forget our consoles are already fully opened on cfw3.55 this was told to us in the beginning, we were also told that Sony couldn't do anything to keep us out, they can only put obstacles in our way, but we can always get around them. This is just more proof that we don't need these dongles... I own both of the main 2 dongles and refuse to buy a 3rd Dongle (E3)..
Im sure there's something really simple that we're not quite doing in order to get 3.60+ games to work on cfw3.55, something we're over looking or some mistake we just keep repeating.
The current situation is like buying a new car (cfw3.55) and then having to buy the keys for the car (dongle) in order to drive the car you already own.
Maybe if we stop buying cars and buy bicycles (xbox360) instead, they would have no choice but to give us the keys to the car... But the more we beg, pray and ask... Is the more they will dangle the carrot in front of us.

Who is actually controlling the current Ps3 scene? Is it Sony or is it the Dongle creators?
One thing for sure is the consumer will always be the one who has to cough up the £$€¥.
We continually argue our point that we want a free CFW that will allow us to play all the latest games for free, But is this really a good idea? Will game developers carry on making games only to make a loss from lack of sales?
Ok.. So we decide to buy a dongle, ... Now we are at the mercy of the dongle creator to release eboots when they feel the time is right for them to do so,... And what guarantee do we get from them that they will continue to support the release of the eboots?
So now we decide to go legit and support Sony on Ofw, they advertise their games and entice you into spending $40 on a game that wasn't even worth the price of the CD it was written on.... And keep offering us more clones of games.
The real point I'm trying to make here is that games are far tooooo expensive, and if they came down in price significantly we wouldn't be in the situation we're in now. Everyone would be on Ofw and playing online with a smile on their faces, and not feeling ripped off after spending $40 on a game that lasted 8 hours
I suggest all new game releases to be priced @ 0.99c
And second hand games to be 0.25c
This is the only way we'll get out of this mess we currently find ourselves in.
And just for the record, I own TB & Cobra dongles with over 100+ games and the Only game I play is Sid Miers Civilization Revolution (original game disk) ..........................

The reports so far:
- The Duplex release doesn't seem to suffer the freeze at chapter 3.
- One guy reporting that The Asia release (JP Voice x Eng Text) freezes at Square Enix menu.
- It is said that there will be a follow-up to this freeze issue. aka please wait for updated additional fix (like the FIFA fix previously)

I'm playing Final Fantasy XIII-2 [BLES-01269], works fine. I'm still on Chapter 2. The only problem I encountered is when I save at the Historia Crux on a new slot. The game will pause at stage 2/3 of saving but that savegame will be just fine. Only the home button will be available, and when I quit the game, the ps3 will restart by itself. Maybe it can be fixed later but it's not really an issue.

Does anyone know if game if the game does not freeze with a self made backup.
What I mean is - I bought the game. If I have Multiman back it up to my HD and apply the Eboot patch from the first post will I have no issues? Or do I have to torrent the game I already bought....

It looks like there are several degrees of applying the fix; the result also seem to vary depending on which version of FFXIII-2 that you have.
1. Applying only the fix eboot.
It is believed that doing this will be enough for the Duplex version to work a.k.a. won't freeze at chapter 3. It is said that this will not be enough to patch the other version.
2. Applying the missing SPRX.
Do this after you've done [1] but the problem persists.
2'. Applying SPRX files from TB release.
I read one post that said that copying SPRX files from the TB release will solve the problem.
3. Applying many, many files.

Information is somehow a bit lacking on which version works & which fix works. Give it a few more days, maybe someone will post report with better details ... something like, "Hey I have this (insert version here) version, did apply the fix files from here (insert URL), and finished FXIII-2 last night! No freezes, no save file problems!" I hope ^^
You might want to wait for such a confimation, but it would probably be faster to just rip your copy, and then try by yourself the three steps I mentioned in the previous post. Who knows, you might only need to apply step 1 or 2, and not needed to DL extra Gigs (step 3).

I backuped my BLES-01269 FFXII-2 EU bluray on JB OFW3.41, apply eboot fix.
It freeze at some loading stages, so I apply the SPRX fix and working perfectly ever!

Freezes are caused by missing sprx and/or not fixed sprx 4files.
Maybe it won't freeze with original SPRX on CFW3.55, so try it out.

If the game have files greater than 4GB FAT32 size limit, then use split4G to split the whole game into 4gb file sizes.
Now the game can be copied to the ext. usb drive and mm will joined it automatically onto ps3.
And with MM filemanager you can just copy/edit the eboot/fixes/files from usb into ps3 hdd0/GAMEZ ect.
I had doing this way with 100s games, very easy.

i went into file manager and i booted eboot.bin (it was highlighted red btw) and it said this game requires 3.74 do you want to change param.sfo to 3.55? what do i do? thanks guys!
edit.... i did the update bull**** of game data and now it says i need to update my ps3 to 3.77 or w/e crap. Ima have to reupload. WHy is it that multiman isnt recognizing the game on the cover sections but its shown on file manager?

It depends where to you FTP'd the game to. Copy the fixed eboot and then when ftp'ing send the game to the game folder > Laun1234. When complete refresh multiman using the refresh option when using the XMMB lookalike menu. BY doing this you SHOULD be able to see the game in MM.

I cannot be 100% certain what you have done, however I copied a game recently from pendrive to PS3. I put it in the game folder I believe but not the GameZ where the laun1234 is. The exact path could be different dont know on the top of my head. This game cannot be viewed in MM coincidentally. I then copied another game to the Laun1234 folder and after a refresh it appeared. So my recommendation is to start afresh and ensure you put the game in the Laun1234 folder. Copy the fixed eboot before starting FTP. Hope you got the Duplex version otherwise it may hang at Ch3 unless you fix it via other methods.

Ok, problem now is that since i accepted the update game data for ffx and i went through and updated everything and it asked me to update my ps3's firmware. now i reuploaded the game through cuteftp and i still says THIS PS3 IS 3.55 YOU MUST UPDATE TO 3.77 TO PLAY? WTF?? I deleted the game on cuteftp and reuploaded it? What else do i need to delete because the first time i uploaded it into my ps3 it started fine and simply asked me to update, assuming i couldve just canceled and commenced playing, any suggestions?

Ok i deleted game data and everything worked fine. Just know, if a game asks to update game data, dont do it. Well, everything works fine BUT im only on chapter one but i gots to go to sleep for work so i will continue later on tonight and let yall know. but i played for about an hour and so far so good with DUPLEX and eboot only.

Just got to Serendipity with the Duplex release and it freezes when I try to play slots. Has anyone else had this problem and gotten around it?
I tried to replace the sprx files with the ones from TB and the same thing is still happening.
Also freezes while trying to bet on chocobo races.

I've used the files in the Duplex release and had no problems so far. Am on chapter 3 (Yassaf), before opening the new time gate.
Also, use multiman's option to fix permissions pressing triangle before loading the game.

I just tried to fix permissions again and it was the same story.
Has anyone been able to play slots/chocobo racing? Game works perfectly fine besides the darn casino. Normally I wouldn't care but you need the casino for at least 2 trophies that I know of.

OK. I've got the NRP Release - a.k.a. the Asia Version a.k.a. the supposedly holy grail for the purist due to Japanese dialogue & English text. lol
The bad news is, apparently this particular release, which is the only undub version that is circulating in Internet is indeed a bad dump.
This is probably why you need to DL the extra 36++ to replace the bad files. Get them here: http://bbs.duowan.com/thread-27877501-1-1.html
Although judging from the size of the files (10GB++?), it is almost like DLing the whole game.
BTW, you need to click the name of the file to inititiate DL.

If anyone is willing to test a few patches for me ,i would appreciate it . I need you game ID & the game name in this thread .I have 3 IDs for Final Fantasy i know of so far i believe should work as long as the sprx is resolved i also can encrypt the sprx to be used in the patch possibly . Anyways i only have 1 of these games on the way to test & i like to test the patches on every region if i can so i can release the patches .. thanks

Also by the look of the EBOOT.BIN it seems they used the original eboot from FFXIII being the code for all of the regions are inside the eboot from the previous version including new version FFXIII 2 . This is just a hunch but it could be possible that the sprx can be used from the previous version ,i would test this if you have it .

Okay, finally got the NRP & the 36 files.
It seems to work at my friend's PS3. (3.55)
I connected the same external drive; it freezes at my PS3 (3.41), right after you load/ create the first save file.
I wonder what the problem might be?
Perhaps the fix doesn't work with 3.41?
Maybe I need a fixed param.sfo? (I just used Multiman to patch the param.sfo)

ok, im really confused now.
All I wanna do is to play FF XIII-2 undub , with jap voice actor and english subs.
I am downloading asian version-nrp repack now, and btw I am using True blue dongle.

As mentioned it will only freeze with the minigames: chocobo races and slot machines at Serendipity Casino part, just like any other versions.
Don't think someone will fix the minigames, you don't need it anyway to finish the game.

Does anyone out there meet a special bug like me? Please listen to the whole story.
So when I was at bresha ruin 005 AF, I saved at the historia cruz page, not knowing about the bug. The weird thing happened that when I go to bresha ruin 005 AF again, I started at the very end of the chapter, not when I quitted. I was okay by that time. Replaying a whole chapter is no problem. Buttttt.....the quest Vita Lyrica about giving soldier Morris the Army comm device is bugged. I received the quest, get the Army comm device later in the game, and cannot give the device to Morris. The ! mask is there, the soldier is there, the device is in my inventory, still no baloon appear on his head so I can talk to him.
Close gate, replaying the whole chapter won't help, the quest doesn't even appear anymore when replay.
I thought "oh, only 1 quest, live on", so I continued playing. Now near end of the game, I realized that I missed some fragment skill I really want, just because missing this 1 damn fragment.
T_T. So anyone met this bug and have a way to solve this please help me. you're my savior =)

I test it and It's working OK, but I can't test the Casino freeze because I'm not there yet. I played the EU version also.
Now step by step solution:
1) Before you apply this new fix, is your game working? and it has the Casino freeze?
2) Then just replace return the original files/changes back before this new EU fix and test it.
3) If it working like before with the Casino freeze, then just apply the new EU Casino fix= only replace the eboot and the 4 sprx files should working.
4) Otherwise you have a bad ASIA copy and need the repack ASIA version from torrent piratebay: Final_Fantasy_XIII-2_ASiA_MULTi2_REPACK_PS3-NRP

Delete any previous data or FIX of this game and check that the PARAM.SFO you are using is for BLES01269 in your game folder.
-Install complete DLC pack fixed included in the folder FFXIII-2 EURO COMPLETE PACKAGE DLC & UPDATE 1.6 FIX

-Run the game. You should see Downloadable Content available. (Don't click on it, Yayes said it crash the game)
-Start with a new save or load your save and play then switch the character outfits and see if the DLC are activated. You can now use all others DLC.
