• [Update] [Released] PSoN! – Access PSN On 3.55 – Alternate Method

    PS3 Custom Firmware (CFW), PS3 Hacks, PSN , 26.06.2012

    PS3HaX members Nateblitz16, ginnza and Ron36 informed us of an alternate method to access PSN, the news comes from Italian site PS3Ita and as usual, Google is a b*tch when translating, so if any of you native Italians want to do a professional translation, check the source link below, anyhow here is the badly translated quote from the source:

     

     

    Like most of you know by now, Sony released a new firmware update, version 4.20.

    This puts an end to PSN Access with Team Rebug’s spoof. When you try to sign in you’ll be asked to update your firmware…

    So now what? Are we screwed again?

    Not with what I’m about to tell you.

    ****PSN is still working, but you’ll need a PC. Don’t have one or just don’t want to turn it on everytime you’ll want to enter to PSN?

    PS3Ita has the solution:
    Make sure you’re on 3.55 CFW and that you don’t have any installed spoofs. This is really important.

    1. Download and install on your PS3 on our pkg:   DOWNLOAD | DOWNLOAD (x Ver CFW_Geohot)
    2. When you’ll execute it, you’ll see your console’s yellow LED start blinking (don’t worry, you’re not YLOD’ing your PS3), after 2 seconds, your PS3 will restart.
      Now you can go and enter PSN again, beware though, there’s always the risk of banning.

      IMPORTANT NOTE: the pkg can be used on all CFW except True Blue’s (we’re doing tests on it) and maybe Cobra.

      Some explanations: the patches used to connect to PSN are totally different from Rebug’s, but we obviously used the passphrase they discovered. Without them, PSN access wouldn’t be possible in any shape or form.

      Therefore we gotta thank in a big way Team Rebug!!

      Sony will probably patch all this by either changing the passphrase or in another way, to be honest I really don’t think this will last much, so for now enjoy it while it lasts.

    Pass phrase’s change, so don’t hold your breath for this CFW access to PSN to last much longer, so enjoy it whilst you can :)

    UPDATE

    It appears that the reason this method works, is because it is a clone of Rebug, the only difference is the GUI, PS3HaX Homebrew Dev and PS3 Wiki Guru euss has looked it over and says it is exactly the same as rebug psn 4.11.

    My advice, is stick with Rebug and don’t bother with this one.

      obviously PassPhrase is the same... otherwise it is impossible sign in PSN..
      I have always given credit for that to Rebug..
      But all other patches are different..
      The patches are the same of our CFW ps3ita
      Do you remember?
      And cfw ps3ita came out before the first spoof Rebug..

      For me works! But only this way.
      I install 3.55 Kmeaw Without any Spoof and works well.
      I try with 3.55.2 Rebug CFW and the result is Red screen.

      Look im just going to wait untill TEAM REBUG does it again. Its not worth jacking up my system. Team Rebug aways did us right so I just say wait on them . They always been reliable.

      Rebug spoof will work. The problem is PSN is detecting it as 4.11 and not 4.20. So as soon as the console is spoofed to 4.20, the method will work again.

      This is like the easiest fix I've ever seen . I installed the pkg, went to check if it say 4.20 in the setting...nothing, just 3.55 but it did get me on psn. THANK YOU YOU"RE THE BEST

      Good to have other options to go online =), for now I will keep using "F'ckPSN" so far it haven't given any issues, in fact I just connected to PSN and went to the Store and everything is working like a charm.

      Thank you ps3ita and team rebug. I installed it on kmeaw and geohot firmware (I have 2 ps3's on cfw 3.55). It worked for both and I was able to synch over 2 years worth of trophies. It's all I've wanted to do since getting on cfw. I don't care if I can't uninstall it. I have 2 legit ps3's.

      When I first did it, I started downloading all of my rockband content. It was working fine until about 1 hour. Then I started getting errors For all dlc. When I did my second ps3, I go errors for all dlc from the start. I guess they caught on? No problems. I got my trophies synced. That it all I cared about.

      i tried to go into safe mode and did a format but still when i turn it on it still gives me the red screen

      this is my 2nd ps3 and parents wont buy me another if i screw this up
      plz plz plz tell me its a minor prob and and be rectified

      don't panic-. Get into recovery mode and reinstall kmeaw

      That will solve the problem

      I installed kmeaw succesfully but after that my ps3 switched off.
      now my ps3 is switching off automatically

      thanks. I should have been more patient when installing this. I installed the pkg on my ps3. I want to update multiman, but when I enter multiman from the xmb, the screen is black. Is there a way to unistall this pkg of PSoN from my ps3? I think this is the problem why multiman is giving me a black screen. Thanks.

      I have no idea mate. You need to know what files it overwrote and have a clean back up from before you updated. I'm sure someone will figure out how to reverse this, or provide the correct unmodified files to undo this.

      I wish SONY could let me be a "good" guys sometimes, like on PC where i can be a pirate from time to time Arr Arrrr, and at the same time i can go to web and buy anything legally. But sony wants me always to be on the one side (( pirate or shackled "good" user. That makes me sad.
