On the 5th of this month, we posted a rumour here that a new PS3 SKU was in the works.
Today a Brazilian website has posted photographs of what it claims is the new SKU, they also have a letter from Sony Brazil, mentioning HDD sizes of 16GB, 250GB and 500GB, here is the letter followed by some images:
Do you think it resembles the “Concept Art” posted by Annelies here.

lol you guys are calling fake, if you read where the images came from at the original source, you will see that the chance of this being fake is very small.

Oh god... This looks ugly as hell.
If I get this right, to put a CD in you have to slide the right part of the top cover. Completely lame.
I doubt it is fake, because I don't think anyone that would think of such a disk tray system.
Also I' doubt the 16GB is a typo, it's similar to the 4GB 360, just space for saves nothing else.

Fugly. I am glad I got a 3k. This thing looks like a cheaper to produce version and nothing else.
Sony has taken away all of the piano black from the 3k (the 2k had a bit more shine to it), so I am a little skeptical of the piano blackness of this 4k, other than that, it is probably legit.

Well if as [MENTION=7773]GregoryRasputin[/MENTION] says this is not the final design, they better freaking do something about that "slide top loader" or whatever you want to call it. Even a regular top loader would be much better than that IMO.

Could this be a unit for their new cloud gaming service too? I mean they did buy Gaikai and probably would want a box to handle it, so why not screw over the userbase and introduce a new model to have the feature instead of including it in a firmware update?
At least that is what I think might be happening.
I wonder what features this model will take away from the PS3 console...

Also rumour is that this has a flip-top disc case, like the PS1 had, instead of the slide in slot ones that the rest have. I think the slot ones are better.

The only thing that would make it decent is if it had PS2 compatibility. With a disc drive design like that, you could probably block the sensors (got a feeling that would require opening up the console though) and use swapmagic
but they most likely will never bring that back. Shame.

Remember that ****ty PSP E1000 model (European only), was a nice hardcore design but lacked wi-fi and a speaker (and the mic, I think).
Maybe this model is ugly as ****, but it has a nice feature (which I really doubt knowing Sony's policy to take features away).

I didn't know Sony was making a grill that's suppose to resemble a PS3? I see it has internet connectivity, that must be so you don't hack or modify the grill or Sony will burn your house down, it will all be in there ToS. I hope they don't take the feature of grilling a hotdog away.

I dont really understand why Sony are spending alot of money on a new PS3 model this late in the game, unless they are going to sell it very cheap or draw the PS3 out for as long as possible.

On the first label image, the model number is written with an uppercase 'o' instead of a 0, e.g. CECH-4O11B. The second model's label is written with a 0, e.g. CECH-4011C.
Notice how, on the first image, all zeros are slim ―as you would expect from a non-fixed width character― yet the "zero" in the model number is clearly fatter.
An interesting observation for you, make of it what you will. Could be a simple, honest mistake at the factory.

Maybe Sony going for an entry PS3 thats cheap. Also maybe they plan on offering STREAMING services like MOVIES, MUSIC, GAMES to it. Cos streaming, you wouldnt require much storage hence 16Gb.
