Well I have spent all day following that TUT and even though I have made progress I still have not got one single 3.6 game to work.

yeah i havnt got one to work yet, im almost about to convert back to cex then to ofw lmao i have a jtag 360 anyway. im not the type to give up, but if this is going to take alot of time and frustration i might as well. ill wait maybe another week but if no one comes through... psn here i come.

Indeed it will, but due to the process and the amount of bricks being reported the general CFW populus lacks to proper skills or is weary to touch this CEX-> DEX stuff.

Indeed having the keys would be ideal as there would be no need to risk your console or endure the learning curve needed to convert CEX->DEX. However, a guide was posted on this site regarding playing 3.6+ backups on DEX that made use of game updates allowing any 3.6+ game with an update to be played on the DEX.

if you follow the tut you would have working games on 3.56+dex ....ive got 007 goldeneye reloaded/max payne 3/dead island to work ....i can convert a game for dex in about 7 mins...if your running into problems...i'll try to help you if i can

Rogero

for all owners of PS3 consoles downgraded from 3.55+ using hardware flashers and Rogero_CFW_v3.x,

Before attempting to convert to DEX and to avoid Bricking the PS3 ,
Please reset the PS3 syscon hashes to eliminate the need of using CEX/DEX firmwares with Patched LV1 checks

To Reset the syscon and have the PS3 back to normal safer mode like any original ( non Downgraded ) PS3, here are the steps :

1- After completing the downgrade process and having Rogero CFW 3.x up and running, make sure you have the Blu-Ray drive attached or the QA Toggle package won't work.
2- Download the Rebug QA_Toggle package from here ---> toggle_qa.pkg
3- Put the "toggle_qa.pkg" on USB and Install it on the PS3.
4- Run the "Rebug Toggle QA" from XMB, the screen will go Black and you will see HDD Led activity then if all went fine you will hear one Beep and the PS3 will Restart back to XMB.
5- If you want to make sure QA flag was set, go to "Network Settings" then apply the following key combo (all at the same time):

L1 + L2 + L3 (press left stick) + R1 + R2 + dpad_down

You should see Edy Viewer, Debug Settings, and Install Package Files if done correctly.

6- Now that you have QA flag set, Turn Off your PS3 and Turn it back on but into "Recovery Menu"

This Step is very important, it have to be from "Recovery Menu" and not a normal Update from XMB or the PS3 will Brick.

Here is how to access it:
a. Turn off Playstation�3.
b. Hold The power button down; The system will turn on and turn off once again.
c. Once the System has been shutdown, re-press you finger until you hear 2 consecutive beeps
d. When you hear the 2 beeps take finger off power button.
e. You will be prompted to plug in your controller via usb and then hit the PS button
f. The Recovery menu will pop up.

Alternatively you can simply use CondorStrike's Updater package to enter Recovery Menu directly from XMB without going through the boot sequences. --> Condor Updater v2.0

7- Now you must have any 3.55 OFW or CFW with original (non Patched) LV1 in your "USB:\PS3\UPDATE\PS3UPDAT.PUP", here's a link to 3.55-Kmeaw --> kmeaw355.PUP

8- Select the last option of the Recovery Menu --> System Update, then when prompted press and hold "Start+Select" for 5 seconds to start the update.

Once finished the PS3 will restart into XMB with the Syscon hashes reset back to 3.55 in both "ros0" and "ros1" and your PS3 is back like any original/non Downgraded PS3 that can use any CEX/DEX Fw without having to worry about disabling LV1 checks.

You can proceed now with converting from CEX to DEX by following Deank's tutorial normally.

Mate thanks for all the help today, I would like to get at least one game to work.

Can you answer these questions for me ?

Do you install the pkg's on 3.55 then update 4.11 ?
When you use ps3gen do you get errors about no eboot and no trophy file ?

I'm off to bed now, been sat here since 07.30 this morning ( its now 21.20 ) and I have to work at 05.30.

Whining in their posts about dongles, talking crap about other sites and bullying users. Talking about penises and dildos and the same things that highschool freshman talk about. I was sad when dukio stopped being run by dukio bit I was happy to have hax but it looks like I may be growing out of it and ready for college. This isn't directed at any one mod and sometimes I really like what you have to say but today is not that day and hellsing9 hasn't even posted a pointless ranticle today.

What about CFW users that purchased a downgraded PS3 from a 3rd party and has no idea if it was downgraded or not. Is there a way to tell? It could explain some of the bricks.

I tested "Rogero 3.55 DEX MFW" on a 3.55 DEX ps3 (without Peek/Poke), installed from XMB worked fine ,backups work fine too.
but in another 4.11 dex ps3 it gives error both in XMB and recovery mode.

Yes, I meant can you tell if your PS3 has been downgraded using a hardware flasher? I know people who have purchased PS3's from sellers who used hardware flashers to downgrade the consoles he sells. I meant mods. Nubcake mistake on my part and tbh I wouldn't know what they say about hax because as i previously stated once dukio sold it, it became crap. Anti-drm is fine but when their eboots get front paged and linked to it almost seems pro-tb at times because doing anything other than ignoring them simply reminds people of other choices or "solutions" if you will. Ive considered getting one but the fact that the dongles restrict more features than they provide is contrary to point of having cfw. Having cfw is about having choices. I'm prochoice even if buying a dongle to have features taken away is clearly a poor choice. And as I stated before I wasn't addressing one specific person so don't get too butt hurt

This is version 2 of the DEX Downgrader/CFW, it has the follwing features:

- LV1 Checks are patched to bypass syscon hashes mismatch while switching FWs. (This will avoid some bricking too)
- installation of Retail and pseudo-Retail packages on DEX.
- running unsigned applications.
- installation on consoles with broken Blu-Ray drive.
- Downgrader feature from 3.55+ DEX back to 3.55DEX ( This is the same as the original 3.55DEX-Downgrader )

It was a hypothetical college used in my rant where I was comparing some of the mod's behaviours to that of clicky beta male high school students in which I described my time in the ps3 scene into growing up over the the course of a life time.

Haha, just bwcause i have a low post count considering my sign up date, make no mistake that ive been a reader for a very long time. I've seen you rip some people a new one but I find you to be playful yet also respectful to people not acting like plain old r'tards. I've seen you go period all over a nubcakes face. I remember when you wanted to step down as a mod because you wanted to say what you felt like you had to and not get accused of abusing power but even when you're seeming unjust and hi-polar its secretly (mostly) just and quite sane.

Sry, i'm new here and i don't understand how to setup that firmware? I format my flash card into fat32 make dir PS3/UPDATE/PS3UPDAT.PUP (ren from orig name for that) boot in recovery tap to update and it tell me that there is no update file, can u help me? Now i have Roger fw 3.3

As I stated in another thread the Rogero 3.55 V2 Downgrader cannot downgrade from 4.20 DEX. Only from 4.11, but the normal 3.55 downgrader from the wiki does the job done. At least for me though.

Mate, this CFW is for DEX consoles only, not for normal CEX. Do not try to install this on CEX console.

No, no problem. That is how it has to be - PS3UPDAT.PUP (not PS3UPDATE.PUP) If that bothers you.
