    Developer andbey0nd has released an app/plugin in for Showtime, here is a quote from the ReadMe:

    Showtime Disc Access (stDISC.pkg 100kb)
    =======================================

    Requirements:

    * CFW/MFW 3.41/3.55 with peek/poke/lv1 access (KMEAW/REBUG/ROGERO/HERMES)
    * Showtime media player 3.99+ or Showtime for multiMAN (installed in default location)
    * Data DVD/CD/BD in the PS3 tray (video/music/photo content)

    Purpose:

    * Allows access to optical data discs (DVD-R/RW, CD-R/RW, BD-R/RE) which usually are not accessible in homebrew apps
    * Minimizes the steps to access content stored on such optical discs (no need to launch multiMAN with DirectDiscAccess)
    * Allows Showtime to play all your backup videos/music if you used optical media

    Extras:

    * You can take screenshots of movies while Showtime is playing
    * You can play music from XMB [Music] column while Showtime is displaying photo slideshow
    * You can use “Remote Play” to watch videos on your PSP / PS Vita or other compatible devices

    Installation:

    * Copy “stDISC.pkg” to the root of a USB drive/stick
    * Install from [Game] column -> [* Install Package Files]
    * “Showtime (Disc access)” entry will appear in the [Video] column in XMB
    * Launch it with data disc in the tray
    * In 5-10 seconds your Showtime Media Player will load with disc access

    Enjoy!

      Next step, real dvd/BD movie content acces.. So we can put in different region dvd's.. just wishfull thinking..
      If something like that would be possible then it could be possible to have it use externals subs just like you would on downloaded moviefiles, this would mean you could order anywhere without the fear of it not having subtitles (ofcourse if there are external subs available on the internet, but you can check that before you buy the discs). Also this could mean you could reposition subtitles.. I so despise subs that are half in the active picture and half in the black bars, everything has to be in the active picture, just like in the cinema's (well I have a projector)..

      I have kmew, showtime 3.99+ and nothing happens.
      I inserted an dvd with a mkv movie on the tray.
      Started showtime disc acess.... the screen remains black for 15-20 seconds then go to main menu of showtime.
      The disc doesnt show in the menu and the movie doesnt starts auto.
      Am i the only one with this problem?

      The initial 15-20 of black screen is normal. Once you start the movie, it will not start immediately. showtime could take sometimes up to 2 minutes or more to start the movie. Be patient

      The latest mmCM 04.04.03 (aka multiMAN) implements a function to allow change the region of real Blu-ray discs.

      * Added option "Blu-ray Movie Disc Region" in "Settings" to change current PS3 region/targetid for movie compatibility (for non-Cobra 3.55CFW)

      Yes I know, and I'm already using it, but that one only works for bluray discs, not for dvd's.. but through showtime it would be like realtime ripping and playing, which should make it possible to add your own subtitles and reposition them.. hehe.. at least I'm very glad for the region switching option in MM..

      Another mirror on my own site.. I'll propably start piling up on homebrew on my own site as long as I'm not using it for anything else. I'm getting sick of al those awfull download sites with a lot of misleading download buttons or even packing the original download into their own crapware installer (like one of the mirrors for last MultiMan)..
