    * No need to split games
    * No HDD space required for games (only game data)
    * Works for 00.92-03.60 DISC game backups

    * If you prepare UPDATE packages for 03.70-04.20 games make sure to change all /dev_bdvd references in EBOOT.BIN/self/sprx files to /app_home

    ================

    What do you need:

    * A PC and a PS3 and wired LAN (and some brains)
    * Wired LAN connection from your PS3 to the local network

    * multiMAN 04.05.01 [DEX] installed on your PS3
    * ProDG / TargetManager installed on your PC

    * mmDM (DEX Game Mounter) installed on your PC

    ================

    * If you get warnings about ProDG, ignore and continue
    * Click the [FOLDER-ICON] button and browse to the game backups folder on your hdd/usb
    * mmDM will show your games
    * Pick one game and click “MOUNT >” button
    * If you run into 1002 error problems, change the mount-point-drive to O: or another drive letter

    ProDG/TargetManager:
    * Install and configure ProDG / PS3 Target Manager to have your DEX PS3 visible in “Debugging Station (DECHA00J / …. )”
    * Connect to your PS3 (F7)
    * Make sure that you have “Reset Mode” set to “System Software Mode” -> “Target -> Reset Mode -> System Software Mode”
    * Reset your PS3 -> “Target -> Reset”
    * Wait for reset to complete

    * Right-click on your target PS3 name and select “Set File-Serving Directory (app_home/)”
    * Select drive/path Z: (or O: or the one you used earlier - IMPORTANT: it must be the same drive letter as in mmDM)
    * Select your PS3 under “Debugging Station …” and press F7 (or mouse right-click -> Connect)

    ================

    On your PS3:

    multiMAN
    * Start mM
    * Go to “Settings” -> “Network Servers”
    * Add your PC as a network server (/net_host) - enter your PC IP address and leave the default port

    * Click “Refresh” and wait for it to complete
    * You should see the games from your PC (a little globe icon in right-hand corner of the icon)
    * Pick a game and press [X]

    ================

    After you complete all this one-time setup you will have two choices:

    — Activate/mount games on your PC manually:
    * Have ProDG running on your PC and connected to your target PS3
    * Have mmDM running on your PC
    * Double click a game (or right-click -> “Convert EBOOT to DEX” and double-click)
    * Launch game from /app_home on your PS3

    or

    — Have multiMAN remotely activate games via mmDM
    * Have ProDG running on your PC and connected to your target PS3
    * Have mmDM running on your PC
    * In multiMAN - select a network game and click [X] and play from /app_home

    ================================

    Setting up ProDG (with pictures):

    * Connect your PS3 to LAN with cable (no Wi-Fi) and setup the Network in XMB->Network Settings
    * Install and configure ProDG / PS3 Target Manager to have your DEX PS3 visible in “Debugging Station (DECHA00J / …. )”
    * Click the green-refresh-arrows to scan your local network for a DEX PS3

    * Hopefully your PS3 will appear, so right-click -> Add target

    PSX-Scene developer Ac1DMoDz has released a modified version of PSDev‘s PS3Tools GUI Edition which includes PS3 HDD Studio, Package Tool Kit GUI and an HDD Category. In addition, SCETool is now up-to-date. According to Ac1DMoDz, there will be two versions of this release: one with Package Tool Kit and one without. The reason behind his decision is because a few applications that lie within Package Tool Kit come off as false positives and will set off your anti-virus application(s).

    There will be two version’s of this release! One with the Package Toolkit and one without. The reason I’ve made two is because a few applications in the Package Tool Kit give off as a False-Positive. So if you do not want the one with the toolkit, just download the one without! Enjoy! - Ac1DMoDz

    I know it isn’t PS3 scene news, its not even official PS3 news, but its exciting news all the same, this has been an un worked on idea for six years.

    E3 2006 and Hideo Kojima revealed that Metal Gear Solid was getting a live action movie, quotes from the developer at that time:

    It has taken a long time, but we have finally settled on an arrangement.

    False facts aside, a movie project is underway. I have finalized a Class-A contract with a party in Hollywood.

    Nothing else was revealed about the movie until eight months later(February 2007), when Sony Pictures Entertainment revealed that they were making the movie, it was also revealed that Hollywood director Michael De Luca would produce MGS and Hideo Kojima would be the executive producer.

    May 2008 Collider.com interviews Michael De Luca about his movies, here is part of the quote regarding the MGS movie:

    Collider: So now let’s ask about…about a month or two it came out that you are involved with Metal Gear Solid.

    Mike De Luca: Right.

    Collider: So this is the question that every fan…I’m asking this for every fan…what are you going to do to finally make a kick-ass video game movie?

    Mike De Luca: I mean, hopefully not screw it up. For me adapting a video game is just like adapting a book or a play or any other…whenever you’re adapting from another medium for film you try to take into account what you need to do to make it a movie. With books it’s how you compensate for not being inside a character’s head and with video games I think what you have to compensate for is the loss of interactivity, you know. What makes video games fun is that you get to be the character and you’re sitting there ruling the universe and it’s a really first person interactive experience. When you’re in your theatre seat, you’re stuck with these subjective versions of the story and the game from a director or the writer’s point of view. You can’t interact with what’s going on so whatever turns you on about the game, you’re immediately disadvantaged in the theatre because you’re not feeling anything which I think ups the ante for how good the story has to be and how good the movie has to be because we’re going in at a disadvantage that you’re not going to get the excitement or the adrenalin rush of doing it yourself, so we have to do it for you in a way that makes up for that. So I think the bar is higher and I think in the past, people haven’t realized that they set the bar low for video game movies thinking that oh, there’s a built in audience and we don’t need to go crazy with this movie. We just need to get it out there and people will just go see it anyway. I think that’s kind of a rip-off so…I tried with the first Mortal Combat movie to honor the…I mean that game is like pre-historic at this point but we tried to honor the Enter the Dragon type of storyline of those characters and not throw something out there that was total rip-off and on this one the kind of Cain and Able story between Solid Snake and Liquid Snake and their relationship with their father and the storyline of Metal Gear Solid 4 has the makings….there’s so much story in Metal Gear as opposed to other video games that I think it’s going to be a challenge but it’s an upscale problem to have some much thematic subtexts and story material to draw from so I think we have a leg up already in that it’s such a rich universe and Kojima is like George Lucas in terms of creating this universe so what it says about war by proxy in this kind of future where war has been outsourced to private companies I think can be almost very topical and also kind of satirical in like a “Robocop” kind of way, so I think if we can get a script that honors the storyline of all 4 games, but that also has a cinematic aesthetic you know the kind of aesthetic Verhoeven brought to “Robocop” or the kind of aesthetic the Wachowski’s brought to “The Matrix”.

    Read Full Interview.

    Fast forward to January 2010 and sadly Michael De Luca revealed that work on the movie had ceased indefinitely, again Collision.com interviewed him and this is what he had to say:

    Collider: We talked a long time ago about Metal Gear Solid.

    De Luca: Right.

    Collider: Do you think that project is ever going to move forward or what’s the status of that thing?

    De Luca: I don’t think it’s going to move forward because I got the sense that there may not be enough of a coordinated will at this point on the side of certain parties to see a movie get made. And I get it because the problem with a lot of these adaptations is it’s such a huge franchise for the video game company. A movie can only hurt. If the movie’s great, you’re probably not going to sell more games. It’s such a separate thing. The franchise being as big as it kind of helps the movie…I’m not sure the movie does the same thing for the game.

    Collider: Well, what’s interesting though…not to interrupt you but there’s a lot of video game movies in development right now. And you’d think that Metal Gear is such a huge franchise that it’s almost like…and it’s a cool character and a cool universe. You’d almost think it’s a no-brainer.

    De Luca: I think there’s some things…the video game companies are very protective of their property and there are certain things a studio requires freedom-wise to market and distribute a movie effectively in a global marketplace and sometimes getting those two things to match up is really hard. And in the case of Metal Gear Solid, the agendas just….not because the parties weren’t amicable, it was just kind of impossible to get the agendas to match up.

    Collider: Well, let me ask you this: was it ever close to happening do you think? Or was it sort of like two ships in the night that are just passing each other?

    De Luca: It was more like two ships in the night, unfortunately, on this one.

    Today
    30th September 2012, Japanese Entertainment and Game website revealed some information from the 25th Anniversary for MGS Show, they stated that Colombia Pictures would be producing the a Metal gear Solid live action movie, with Sony Pictures Entertainment U.S. as the distibutors, Hideo Kojima has picked Avi Arad, the producer of the Xmen and Iron Man movies, to produce MGS.

    The original source of the story broke with Famitsu, but as i have read so many, differnt stories on the subject, here is a google search on the subject:
    Source

    Oh and whilst we are patiently waiting on that Hollywood movie, go and watch this free downloadable fan made live action Metal Gear Solid movie released back in Sepetember 2009, here is some info on it:

    Metal Gear Solid: Philanthropy is a no budget film made by Hive Division, a collective of Italian students and young filmmakers. It’s a non-profit project, based on the videogame saga Metal Gear Solid, created by Hideo Kojima and published by Konami. Driven by our passion for cinema, new technologies and Hideo Kojima’s work, the aim of this project is to prove that a full-length sci-fi feature, of professional standards and with the minimum of resources, is still achievable by the hardiest amongst us. The total amount of money spent on this completely auto-produced film has been less than 10.000 Euros.

    User @venbenfun posted about the NEW metal gear solid game:

    Guys metal gear solid 5 is named as metal gear solid: ground zero…small disappointment solidsnake is not the protagonist…but bigboss is…gameplay was shown today at mgs 25th anniversary…

    Seems legit…Don’t know what to think about this but it’s nice to hear and read about the NEW FOX ENGINE.

    To quote:

    Today in Tokyo, Konami showed off its brand new Fox Engine with a demonstration. The engine’s demo ran footage of something called Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes.

    The thing is, this is not just a tech demo. This is an upcoming, new, open-world Metal Gear Solid game.

    “This announcement is a challenge from Kojima Productions to the world,” said Hideo Kojima.

    The footage showed off how the engine can handle weather (like rain) as well as clothing textures and lighting.

    In the demo, Snake crawled to avoid some searchlights. After a quick stealth kill, he hopped in a jeep and called in a helicopter for evac. The concept behind Ground Zeroes is that this is a “Game without Game Over”. So even if a player is discovered in this stealth title, the part where the game would usually end (their discovery) turns into their escape. It sounds like Kojima Productions is adding a new spin to the sneaking genre—a genre the developer is a master of.

    “Sounds like MG, but the scale & atmosphere… Wow,” tweeted game localizer Mark MacDonald of 8-4.

    The demo was running on a PC at current-gen specs, and its wow-factor seemed to impress those in attendance. It’s also been designed with the Xbox 360 and PS3 in mind.

    The Fox Engine, however, isn’t only for current gen. Konami is positioning the Fox Engine for both Cloud gaming and next gen consoles.

    Konami prohibited photography of the demo during this event, but you can see the first images below.

    Don’t say?!? ;) Sony keeps playing with end user but this maybe this could be something possitive to some of them. (Sony can’t stand Nintendo’s Wii-U..that’s crystal clear).

    To quote:

    Thanks to a PS Vita firmware update recently released by Sony, users can now turn the handheld device into a controller for their PS3, as well as use it to play a number of PSOne Classics games.

    Firmware version 1.80 allows for the Wii U-esque utility, as well as a number of other features, including, at long last, the option for d-pad menu navigation. Now, PS Vita owners can enable the d-pad in settings for use in the handheld’s menus, which was heretofore touch screen-only. The device’s maps and web browser have been enhanced as well, with the additions of a jump-to-top button, the ability to use the rear touchpad to scroll, and a new search bar in the top-left corner.

    But what might be the real selling point (well, maybe for some of us) is the access this update gives us to a number of PSOne games now available for download. Such titles include Tomb Raider, Wild Arms, Twisted Metal, Arc the Lad, Final Fantasy VII, Jet Moto, Syphon Filter, Cool Boarders 2 and Hot Shots Golf 2.

    Joystiq notes that two games, Cho Aniki and Money Idol Exchanger, PSOne imports published by MonkeyPaw, are downloadable (with Cho Aniki so far confirmed as playable) to the Vita. Neither, they report, is on either an official Sony or MonkeyPaw list of supported games. (FYI: if you’re the type that loves weirdness, you’re going to want to get your hands on Cho Aniki.)

    On the other hand, Joystiq also reports that Um Jammer Lammy, another unlisted game, is not available for the Vita, demonstrating that while not all PSOne games are accessible on the handheld, some are but simply haven’t been listed.
