• User @venbenfun posted about the NEW metal gear solid game:

Guys metal gear solid 5 is named as metal gear solid: ground zero…small disappointment solidsnake is not the protagonist…but bigboss is…gameplay was shown today at mgs 25th anniversary…

Seems legit…Don’t know what to think about this but it’s nice to hear and read about the NEW FOX ENGINE.

    To quote:

Today in Tokyo, Konami showed off its brand new Fox Engine with a demonstration. The engine’s demo ran footage of something called Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes.

The thing is, this is not just a tech demo. This is an upcoming, new, open-world Metal Gear Solid game.

“This announcement is a challenge from Kojima Productions to the world,” said Hideo Kojima.

The footage showed off how the engine can handle weather (like rain) as well as clothing textures and lighting.

In the demo, Snake crawled to avoid some searchlights. After a quick stealth kill, he hopped in a jeep and called in a helicopter for evac. The concept behind Ground Zeroes is that this is a “Game without Game Over”. So even if a player is discovered in this stealth title, the part where the game would usually end (their discovery) turns into their escape. It sounds like Kojima Productions is adding a new spin to the sneaking genre—a genre the developer is a master of.

“Sounds like MG, but the scale & atmosphere… Wow,” tweeted game localizer Mark MacDonald of 8-4.

The demo was running on a PC at current-gen specs, and its wow-factor seemed to impress those in attendance. It’s also been designed with the Xbox 360 and PS3 in mind.

The Fox Engine, however, isn’t only for current gen. Konami is positioning the Fox Engine for both Cloud gaming and next gen consoles.

Konami prohibited photography of the demo during this event, but you can see the first images below.

Peace Walker was awesome, hope this one is even better. The movie sounds interesting.

If, if they have Solid Snake in it anywhere, no matter who they cast, they will need David Hayter to do his voice.

I would rather have them use David Hayter as Snake than have some other voice with a different actor. They can make him loose a bit of weight and he'll look more or less like snake. Its more important than his looks to me (although obviously he must resemble Snake to some extent)

Snakes voice is absolutely crucial and I hope the director plays the games before making the movie. If they dont, thats like making a movie out of a book without having read the book

What do you think, is this going to be on this generation consoles or next ?
Anyway, I hope we will see solid snake here. Maybe some events fro original Metal Gear game ?

Hope they really take full advantage of the PS3 hardware this time (like when they made MGS3 and that shadows/grass stuff).

And they better release it as a full game (no DLC ****, ever) and not that ****ty cloud ****.

dont know when people will realise kojima and that guy david cage are cinema school drop outs.
the problem with mgs is that is a very profitable franchise for konami and they are pressuring kojima to do new ones.
let's just hope this one doesnt kill the franchise name.
we still have Call Of Duty, sorry i meant Raccoun City in mind ...

Would have been nice if they had brought solidsnake back.....saying some high tech funda somehow his aging reverted and he's back to his normal age..lol..might sound funny..but guys its always nice to have solidsnake as the playable character...he's the one who did everything for other people but still being tagged monster...moreover he has kicked every tough bosses in mgs series...would be absolute badass to play again as solidsnake....

Nah, Solid Snake's story is completed, anything beyond MGS4 with Solid Snake in it would just be nothing more than milking the old cash cow and I'm sure Kojima knows it. Although there are enough usable "holes" in the MGS timeline so they could have done a story with him that takes place before MGS4 but I don't think that would be a good idea either, the good old Solid Snake that we grew up with should be left to rest, he deserved that much. :D

Big Boss as the lead character is not a bad idea at all. I don't know what exactly is it about him but somehow they managed to make him way more convincing, more "human" than Solid Snake ever was so I honestly hope this new game won't be too far off from MGS3 which is still my favorite in the series.

Also, if anybody over at Konami/KP is reading this - whenever you decide to remake the old MGS games for any of the current (and future) hardware, you can count on my money, no matter what it costs.
