Im sure many of you seen my earlier post about PS Vita Firmware 1.80 and the good news that it brought PS1 Emulation, but that is over shadowed by the terrible news that it blocks you installing VHBL(Vita Half-Byte Loader), here is a quote from Wololo’s website:

Well, this is a surprise, and not a good one. Vita firmware 1.80 comes with a few unwelcome updates, one of them being that it blocks VHBL.

I have good and bad news. The good news is that, as far as I could see, VHBL still runs fine on firmware 1.80. The bad news is, it is impossible to copy it to the PS Vita. The version I tested had been installed before the update to 1.80, but sadly I could confirm the 1.80 update prevents us from copying the VHBL files, ad well as homebrews, to the memory card.

To read the full story and how exactly it blocks VHBL, visit Wololo’s website:

The way this is heading, PS4 will be ultra secure like hell.

On a complete off-topic note. Imagine washing machine makers sign a deal with fashion brands and the washing machine would only wash clothing that are original and it will not wash "pirated" clothing! It will be completely insane!

What I am trying to say it, sony only excepts original and not homebrew. Imagine this was applied to your daily life. Example: washing machine only accepts original cloths from store. It will not wash clothes that you have made by yourself.

Anyway I get your point, I just think its a poor example.

On topic:

I wonder if we might ever see key leaks for Vita? Then you wouldn't need VHBL

i know, people should be surprised as to what sony can get away with because they have so much money they can basically get away with bloody murder, why would people say it's not the same thing it is, if other manufactures did things sony have done people would be screaming lawsuits, i will never buy a sony product again after what they have done and on top of that their ridiculous restrictions on their PS vita is just a tip of the iceberg as to what is to come on the ps4.

the PS vita homebrew scene will be playing cat and mouse with sony for a very long time and i am surprised no one has noticed that especially with the way sony handled homebrew on the ps3, it is really a waste of money buying a PS vita.

No. New method to transfer files with CMA not knowing they are homebrew'd. This means VHBL is almost back to square one, but there is hope. (Note: The hello world is running within the PSP emulator)

The PS3 scene needs someone like neur0n, always doing what he can to help and not attention whoring.

EDIT:
Scratch that, VHBL LIVES:

A little news report.

1.80 = very vhbl / cfw capable.

The new PSX support sony added is in fact a badly hacked together version of the PSP one... our team works on getting it running already...

It's not as much of a roadblock as you guys think.

Updating to it is safe. Its just as exploitable as 1.69(1/2).
And CMA transferring was fixed:

GregoryRasputin, this thread is for VHBL, not Sony's (Patented and Copyrighted) Guide To Pissing On Customers.

Another update:
VHBL was not blocked, it is just that Sony started enforcing file naming rules they've had, but never enforced.

3. The file extension has to be exactly 3 UPPER CASE LETTERS long.

ex.

H.BIN = good
h.bin = bad
INSTALL.ZIP = good
INSTALLER.ZIP = bad

This rules for savedata files have been around since PSP times... its just that - until PS3 came out noone really enforced them properly...

Well... 1.80 FW on Vita + CMA now does enforce it, just like PS3 already did for quite some time...

As long as you follow those filename rules... the things will copy fine.

Naw, just letting you know the thread changed topics from Vita hacking to the various methods Sony uses to insure customer hatred. It was a jest.

Err.... It is derailing when the subject of the thread (VHBL) is changed to something unrelated (Sony/PS3 Screwing the customers).

lo blame that silly fanboy for that, but you are right it has wondered off topic.

Also i think we need to make a new news story about how the death of VHBL was a quick temporary think.
