   Ive been a long time member (but not a poster). Silently watching (well reading actually) from the sidelines while the scene went through CFW3.41..CFW3.55, TB, JB-King, E3 Flasher, DEX, Red Power Blue Disc, lv0, CFW4.21 & CFW4.30. It seems the scene finally has Sony by the balls again.
   
   If the scene does have them by the balls then i guess there are not going to be anymore arguments with trolls etc... The scene will hopefully grow to be more mature and less of the petty childish accusations from the immature brats who kept hounding the Real Devs who were trying to move the scene forward... for FREE.
   
   If the scene is in its final home stretch than I would like to thank all those who strived to get it here. I could not contribute much... well i actually contributed nothing at all (as I had no skills, and programming is just beyond me) but I admire all those who did.
   
   Thank you all from all those can't hack for themselves, but appreciate your guidance
   
   P.S. I guess anyone who can afford it should buy as many PS3 Slim prior to CECH-3000 as possible. They are going to be rare commodity in the future. I am not looking forward to the PS4 as well the 3 is more than good enough, (3D makes my eyes hurt, & 1080p is sharp enough. Any sharper will make real life look pixelated)

   Can you please make a guide for us that followed your CEX to DEX guide and are now stuck on DEX cause the guide insisted you make a Full backup nand 256mb instead of Multiman Backup 239mb. I see that you fix that part in the guide now but what about all of us that are stuck on DEX with a BACKUPRFLAH.BIN and not a EID0.NANDBIN

   Can I jump from Hermes 3.41 CFW to Rogero 3.55 v.7 CFW directly or would it be better to go 3.41 OFW first? I have 2 Phats( 1bc w/ new HDD and 1 non bc 40gb w/ new HDD) that I personally know have never been downgraded. Was just wondering because I know I am not the only one pondering this jump. Thanks.
   
   
   P.S. Have not had a need to go to 3.55 CFW thats why Im still here. So please dont start the ignorant belittling of people that are smart enough to wait for what they need instead of building houses out of PS3 Bricks. Thanks.

    I honestly don't know if you could use the Toggle QA PKG on CFW 3.41, since I haven't been on that version for a long time, but it should not be a problem if you do this:
    
    1- Download and install "Toggle QA" PKG.
    2- On the XMB Game column, run the installed "Toggle QA", the PS3 will black screen, then beep 2 / 3 times and send you back to XMB.
    4- Make sure the QA key combo over Network Settings is working fine, and the hidden menu items are revealed.
    5- Reboot on Recovery Mode and install Rogero CFW 3.55 (v3.7).
    6- After booting into Rogero CFW 3.55 (v3.7), check that the QA key combo is still working over Network Settings (do not run the installation of "Toggle QA" again, since it should be still applied even after CFW upgrade).
    
    Then after that you can follow my Installation tips carefully and you should be able to upgrade to Rogero CFW 4.30 (v1.0 / Patched) without problems .
    
    Remember to check all tips before doing anything, and make sure all CFW PUPs have the correct MD5 hash.

    I'm on kmeaw CFW 3.55 and I kmow absolutely nothing about TA Toggle, checking it over the Network, etc. If I format my PS3, will it jump back to OFW 3.55? or can I download the official 3.55 firmware and then install it so that I can install rogero CFW 4.30?

    Fw is on the board chips, not the HDD

    If you just upgrade to some firmware all of your files (games, etc.) stay on HDD. If you're planning on formatting your drive prior update then then you should back up your (games, etc.) to external storage.

    You might want to add that you have to pull any USB drives from your console when toggling the QA because that gave me grief for like 2 hours :D
    
    After i pulled the stick the button combo and everything worked fine.

    Been reading and reading and now almost ready to make the jump but just have a couple of things to make sure...
    
    I bought this console already hacked - it's a cech-2501a came with 3.55 Hermes which turned out to be Kmeaw online. A while back i upgraded to Rogero V3.70 and been using that.
    
    Now i didn't install QA flag but if i do the button combo Edy Viewer pops up - so i guess don't need to install it anymore right? just double checkin here don't wanna **** it up...
    
    then i saw some post about dumping NOR in MM - that still needed??
    
    So to my understanding i can now safely upgrade - QA works (as Edy, debug, install pop up) - I am already using Rogero v3.70
    
    So i got nothing else to worry about except for getting original eboots back for some of the games....
    
    I don't need to make a backup right? Got a 750gb which is 70% full it would take ages...
    
    Answers to these few questions would then give me full confidence to take the jump ;-)

    Thanks for pointing the backup thing out (I forgot to mention it on the tips / guide, will update it later), what I recommend is to make a NOR Flash backup, it is not the HDD backup, but where the system software files are located, in your case it is just 16MB. The purpose of this is, that in case that you accidentally brick, you have the possibility to recover using a E3 Flasher.
    
    To do the backup, go to multiMAN, switch to mmOS / File Manager and press over any file on the HDD / USB. Then on the pop-up menu select "Open in HEX Viewer", then press [SELECT] to switch to GameOS memory view, finally press [START] to start bring up the LV2 / LV1 / Flash backup notification, then when it ask you "Do you want to export FLASH memory to a file?" select yes.
    
    Now, since you are on Rogero CFW 3.55 (v3.7), and the QA Flags key combo is working OK, you shouldn't have any problem following my tips / guide.
    
    Just make sure to check everything up before you proceed. Remember to remove any disc from your console, and only install the CFW from the Recovery Menu, not the XMB.
    
    Oh, and remember to check the Rogero CFW 4.30 (v1.0 / Patched) MD5 hash as well, Rogero released a updated version recently with the PS3~dev_blind.zip files already incorporated.

    Another tip that I'd like to add. I guess its self explanatory, BUT most people here have probably used it, and as such there would more than most likely be some ****-ups with it as well.... Disable spoofers prior to doing any kind of updating!

    i am on rebug and have problems with my hdd space(any deleting doesnt free up space) so what you think? should i go rebug3.55.2(enableQAT)->OFW3.55->Rogero3.55v7+QAT->Rogero4.30
    
    or is the step with the ofw unnecessary? ist a chech 2504B never been higher then 3.55 never downgraded, what you think?

    I was on rebug 3.55.2 and tried to get the qa flag to work for a while but was unable to. Since I never downgraded (like you), I figured to just go for it. I installed update from the recovery menu and everything seemed to go smoothly. So, for me anyway, it was safe to just go directly from rebug 3.55.2 -> rogero 4.30

    yo, this is what i also want 2 know cause just came back from DEX since max ver is 4.25 and installed KMEAW but ToggleQA combo aint workin so dunno if i have 2 install REBUG or somethin since dont wanna brick and loose my data...
    
    i have NOR which was brickable with CFW 4.25 so plz reply if any1 managed 2 update straight 2 CFW 4.30 from KMEAW via XMB without QA or Recovery thx

    It shouldn't be a problem for both of you if you boot your PS3 into Recovery Mode, then install Rogero CFW 3.55 (v3.7) first.
    
    Then after you're on Rogero 3.55 (v3.7) you can install Toggle QA (Install Package option), and then Run it from the XMB Game Column (not to be confused with the Install Package you just did). The PS3 will black-screen for a few moments and it will make 2 / 3 beeps, then it will send you back to XMB.
    
    Note: Remember not to have any USB device connected to the PS3 while doing this.
    
    After that try the QA key combo while hovering "Network Settings" item in the XMB Settings menu.
    
    Then you can re-boot again in Recovery Mode, and install Rogero CFW 4.30 (v1.0 / patched) AFTER reading the tips I posted very carefully, check all the MD5 hashes before installing anything.

    The process of de-hashing consist basically in 2 steps (both are covered in my tips / guide) :
    
    1- Installing Toggle QA and then Running it from its new XBM icon (QA key combo should work over "Network Settings" XMB item when properly QA Flagged, if it doesn't work then QA Flags are not properly set).
    
    2- Installing Rogero CFW 3.55 (v3.7) via Recovery Mode, here you have a quote of why:
    
    

    Once finished the PS3 will restart into XMB with the Syscon hashes reset back to 3.55 in both "ros0" and "ros1" and your PS3 is back like any original/non Downgraded PS3 that can use any CEX/DEX Fw without having to worry about disabling LV1 checks.

    Thanks for the response. They made me look at a noob thread but with all thats happenning I understand. I got Toggle QA to to work on both my ps3's a while back. So when I jump that is what Ill do. As far as a bookmark-- I made a word doc. Copy and Paste! Your tut & reply. Thank you very much. I am not a noob by no means but I am ignorant of a few things.

    Tips #5 – Finally, while on CFW 4.30, Install multiMAN v04.08.01 and PS3~dev_blind.zip provided by Rogero at Tortuga Cove.
    
    1- Install multiMAN from XMB
    2- Activate “write access” to “dev_flash” on multiMAN settings
    3- Go to mmOS / file manager and locate the PS3~dev_blind.zip and double click it (pressing X twice)
    4- Follow on-screen instructions and restart your PS3.

    4- Start multiMAN and Press [Select+Start] to open File Manager screen (MMOS)
    5- Using the Right analog Stick Double click the first Icon "PS3 Root" to open it.

    8- A confirmation Message will appear, select "Yes" to install it.

    I'm on WutangRZA 3.55 CFW and I can't seem to get the toggle qa pkg to install, the ps3 just returns "An error occurred during the install operation (80029567)". Has anyone else gotten toggle qa to install on WutangRZA? Also, if toggle qa is not an option should I attempt installing Rogero 3.55 v3.7 from the Recovery Menu anyway or is that likely to result in a brick? I'm on a bc cech model...

    hey i have a non jailbroken ps3 slim CECH-3004A 160Gb on OFW 4.25. can i jailbreak my ps3 and install CFW 4.25 without downgrading to 3.55 and yea do i need a e3 flasher for jailbreaking or installing CFW or is it only for downgrading.

    How important is the part about using a clean USB Storage Device with only the needed PUP structure in it?
    
    My pendrive was stolen. I only have my 1TB WD Passport FAT32 USB drive and it's got games folder for PS3 and WII (GAMES and WBFS). Will those affect the installation somehow? Probably not, but you can never be too careful.

    Shouldn't be a problem, but make sure that "DRIVE:\PS3\UPDATE\PS3UPDAT.PUP" is correctly set up, and that for some reason there are not a couple of directories with similar structures in your USB drive, for example:
    
    DRIVE:\_PS3\UPDATE\...
    DRIVE:\old_PS3\UPDATE\...
    DRIVE:\PS3\UPDATE\...

    Thanks. Due to bandwidth issues, I had to skip 3.55 Rogero. I went:
    
    3.55 Kmeaw >>> 3.55 OFW >>> 4.30 Rogero.
    
    Not a single problem, except for, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, game that doesn't work for me. But it had some files changed and my disc is long gone.

    all you need to do in install kemw 3.55 then delete the existing toggle qa and re install it , then try the toggle qa again and do the button compo , it worked for me ,

For anybody else who installed WutangRZA and never changed like me I wanna assure you that if you install 3.55 OFW via Recovery Menu then Kmeaw via RM then install toggle qa pkg, run and confirm it, then install Rogero3.55 and Rogero4.3 by RM it is SAFE. Tested working on my cech bc model

    I have some problems in this 4.30 Rogero CFW.
    Actually, i can install it just fine, but my HDD randomly disconnect.. In kmeaw, it never happened. When I played, it disconnect too, and made the PS3 froze.
    Is it a bug? Or is it just my HDD? Thanks

    I wanna know how im supposed to get the original eboots of all the games i have ? won't it just work with the modified eboots ?
