• PS3 Hacks , 21.11.2012

Through a story on CVG, i decided to buy a digital copy of Xbox World, they have posted a 14 page exclusive regarding what they claim will be featured in the new Xbox.

    Features include:

    • Kinect 2.0
    • Blu Ray Drive
    • Quad Core CPU
    • 8GB Ram
    • Customisable Controller
    • Augmented Reality
    • Expected release date of November 2013

    1. Massive Power
Xbox World states that Durango Dev kits are in the hands of developers and claim the CPU is a monster, they go on to sya that the CPU has four hardware cores, each divided into four logical cores.

    2. Putting The Power To Work
Xbox World quotes a statement from Naturalmotions chief technician Simon Mack, “We can simulate more things and simulate those things better.

    3. Kinect 2.0
According to Xbox Gamer, Kinect 2.0 can track up to four people and can read the smallest movements of your fingers, thanks to advancements in camera technology and the additional processing power.

    4. Augmented Reality
The new Xbox will see augmented reality, with a new peripheral in 2014.

    5. 3D Sound
Xbox World didn’t have a lot of fact for this one, they spoke with someone who was working for a gaming company, but could not reveal anything, due to being under an NDA.

    6. Blu Ray & Beyond
Xbox World states that the new Xbox “should” ship with a Blu ray drive as standard, they also point out a rumour that the slim version of the Xbox 720, would have no optical drive at all and would be a download only device.

    7. DirectX 11
All rumours point to the next gen Xbox having DirectX 11.

    8. A New Microsoft
This part speaks of how Microsoft should change to adapt better to publishers.

    9. A New Control Pad
Apparently the Xbox 720′s new control pad is in its early beta stages, but it speaks of customisable buttons and perhaps the possibility of a touch screen.

    10. Cloud Gaming
Xbox World states that Microsoft has listed Onlive as an acquisition target, so that would go well with the rumour in number #6.

    11. Live 3.0
This bit just speaks of a new improved Xbox Live.

    12. Total Multimedia
This bit discusses how the new gen Xbox, may be even more of a media hub than the 360.

    13. The User Interface.
Perhaps we will see a Windows 8 type interface.

    14. Always On Gaming
This part speaks of how Microsoft think their nex console should be an always on console.

If you want to buy the article yourself, you can grab the Digital version of Xbox World from here:

*BAZINGA* (I know it's out of context, but it just sounds good right now )

I know that it's not only about the built in Hardware that makes the System good.

But this sounds awesome. Looks like Microsoft with its *XBox 720* will have a lot more to offer than Sony with its *PS4*.

Just to think about Kinect 2.0 and the Augmented Reality. I know it's gonna cost a lot of money extra, but I think it's going to give the player a whole new gaming experience.

Maybe Sony has some Ace-Cards up their sleeves that haven't been leaked/published yet, but for now, the new XBox is my favourite...

      7. DirectX 11

Without sounding too much like a dick, of course it's going to have the DirectX 11 feature set and probably some extra bits, just like how the Xbox 360 came with the DirectX 9 feature set with some bits from DX10. This is directed more at the Magazine than the article, though.

As for the rest, it all sounds pretty plausible to me. Other rumours have hinted at similar things. Kinect 2.0 will definitely be on the cards. Kinect's biggest limitation was actually the bandwidth that USB 2.0 could provide. USB2.0 can only really stream about 720p HD (or about 2 Mega Pixels at ~30FPS) which sounds like a lot but when you want to track delicate movements, it really isn't. Plus it's not just one camera, it's a camera and an IR camera running side-by-side. Being able to use USB 3.0 or Thunderbolt will make a hell of a difference alone, even with the same hardware in the current Kinect. Higher-resolution means more detail which means potentially better tracking (of course the main CPU will have more work cut out for it as well).

Either way, I can't wait for E3. Largely convinced that I'll get the next xbox before the PS4 but who knows.

dx11 is not that logical, for all we know it could have had dx11.1

if they actually do release their glasses then the augmented reality peripheral will be awesome (for me anyway) as im a sucker for something new like that.

my 3ds has been used more for the augmented aspect than for actual gaming lol

It would be like the WiiU's GamePad-Display, but without touch-function, it would however surely support Gesture-Handling through the new Kinect. (I think)

Just imagine 4 Players sitting next to each other, everyone wearing those glasses. Everybody can see what's happening on the TV, but everybody has his/her secret tactic on his glasses, controlling the menu on the glasses through the new Kinect, that can even track your finger-movement.

It would just be like a hologram you can controll with your finger-movements - like in movies!

      LOL
Yeah, true, exclusive titles made me buy a XBox 360. But now I want to get rid of it because there aren't any left I could play.

But as you can see: You won't have to decide for any Next-Gen-Console because of the exclusive Titles (because there won't be so many anymore) but much more because of the gadgets you can get for them.

For the current gen Consoles you can decide already for Kinect (XBox), Move-Tracking Game-Controller (Wii) or another Move-Tracking Controller (PS3).

Of course you still have the decision for the exclusivity/genre (Sport-Games on the Wii) of games, respectively the graphics that you get on the console (compare PS3 & XBox with Wii).

But considering the next-gen-Consoles graphics or exclusivity of games won't matter that much anymore. What will matter is the gadgets you can get for your console and how those gadgets will extend your gaming-experience.

And for now my favourite is XBox *720*

I'm taking everything with a HUGE grain of salt.

So far it is all guess work. Just because it's a magazine guessing doesn't mean it's any more plausible then me or you guessing.

Not true. PlayStation/Sony still owns a whole lot of exclusive franchises, more so than Xbox. Xbox also owns a fair bit, but not as many. You think Sony will just let those go mulit-plat? Heck no.

You also have to factor in that Microsoft buys timed exclusives, though those do not matter so much.

In the end, exclusive games will still be just as important as they were last generation when going out to buy a console.

Yeap mate I'm trying to get rid of my RGH Xbox360 Slim...
I have many consoles PS3, Wii, X360, Vita, Android Tegra2 Tablet (yeap it's a console) and I think I have a Dreamcast and Sega Genesis somewhere... Also owned/selled too many over time...

But MS doing this everytime, I have too much money spend on their cheap material Xbox's and I think that's enough...
      I'm gonna wait and see...

They have promising so much power bur I rather not believing.
      Cause this is smells commercial...

And did I mentined why I'm using Wii?
Not for crap graphics, because game is not about graphics.
It's all about beautiful exc. games...

Also, I think Kinect is crapand maybe the new god overpriced Kinect 2.0 will do something :D
I'm waiting the new PS EYE
Sony is planning to do something with that (sssssshhhhhhhh it's a goverment secret)

My overclocked built PC (did it about one and half years ago) is better than these Xbox 720 specs. For graphics, a decent CPU is useless unless it has a decent graphic card but it seems to me that Xbox 740 is focused on augmented reality, meaning the graphics may have to be limited.

I just hope PS4 will be better, at least hardware wise.

When it comes to FPS games Xbox360 controllers analog sticks are more comfortable but when it's comes to Fighting etc. there is nothing like a PS controllers arrow buttons.
It's sharp and smooth pressure sensivity.
If you wanna try it just open the both consoles and open up Tekken/Select Kazuya and try to "Electiric Boltfist/Shoryuken" and you're gonna see...
I can do this in both controllers...

I have too many consoles with lot of controllers.
And all I can say is PS controllers (since DS1-2) is the best choice.

But, all of that confusion can be ended with little bit exercise with that controllers.
When I play (after PS3) with X360 controller, it feels bulk & heavy, analogs are feels slow and hurts my hand/wrists after some time.
Also, when I play (after X360) with PS controller, it feels light and small, just like grabbin nothin and analog sticks are more wide.

So, I decided not to use them in same day...
And you can always buy a Logitech (X360 controller shaped) for your PS3, there are too many options on the market...

sorry but i dont agree with you..
i have the both consoles too and we have compared them so many times with same games..they are the same but not often sometimes we observed very small non important differences on some games..
anyway ps controller arrow buttons suck which **** my thumb finger while playing Street Fighter and similar games and because of that we bought an arcade fighting stick i advise you too..

and ps control pad R2 and L2 buttons suck too..we cant feel them sensetively while playing racing games...360's joypad RT and LT buttons has an opposite design which makes them perfect while playing F1 and other racing games..

and finally the true position for left side analog stick is on 360's joypad again..
ps3 controller so small and not sturdy which is firstly designed for japanese people hand size..you know they are small people in general..
