For folk who are not aware of this.
1. In debug settings and enable "System Update Debug"
2. Use Multiman's file manager(or other) and create a folder in /dev_hdd0 called "updater", so it's /dev_hdd0/updater/
3. Create folders in that directory for the firmwares called 01, 02 and 03 (Dont miss a number or it will error).
4. Copy whichever PS3UPDAT.PUP into one of those folders and rename it to whatever you want, you dont even need the .PUP at the end.
5. Go to System Update then Update via Hard Disk

In case people are wondering why rebug did not release a 4.30 CFW. I believe, there is no safe DEX OFW after 4.21. Rebug's implementation is to combine both CEX and DEX kernels, hence the safest point is 4.21 with spoof files up to 4.31.

My personal results switching from Rogero CFW 4.30 (v1.0) to REBUG 4.21.1 REX

PS3 Model: CECH-2501A
1- Downgraded Rogero CFW 4.30 (v1.0) with REBUG '999' Downgrader 3.55 via Recovery Mode.
2- Installed 'Toggle QA' + Run 'Toggle QA' from XMB.
3- Dehashed via Recovery Mode by installing Rogero CFW 3.55 (v3.7).
4- Verified Toggle QA key combo from Network Settings, all good.
5- Installed REBUG 4.21.1 REX via Recovery Mode.
So far as another used reported, Need for Speed Most Wanted (requires FW 4.25) did not work (unmodified), at least using multiMAN 04.09.00 + BD-Mirror + Standard BD-ROM Emu, so I guess I will need to resign games that require FW 4.25+, but that's OK, this CFW is very nice
Thanks to REBUG Team for this nice release! I hope to see a REBUG 4.30 REX at some point.

P.S just wanted to say that before I updated from 3.55.2 rebug FW I accidently downgraded to FW V2.80 on my ps3 slim 250gb through recovery menu because I forgot to put the USB drive in the ps3 so it just picked up the update data from the game disk which was V2.80 (uncharted 2).
So basically what I want to know is how did my ps3 manage to downgrade from 3.55.2 rebug to v2.80 without any downgrade dongle or hardware flasher? And will it be possible to downgrade a accidently upgraded ps3 slim from v3.70 back to 3.55 if I replicate what I done earlier with my ps3?

I just installed REBUG 4.21 on my PS3 Model: CECH-2501A. I was on Kmeaw (with Toggle QA) and I used "Condor Updater V2.0" to enter recovery mode and from there I updated to Rebug 4.21. No problems, it runs great

Hmmm when u guys and gals talk about resigning.. do you mean the already patched games for CFW 3.55 because.... i did test some Games so far that were prepatched for 3.55 CFW usage.. so far they do work without resigning them :

When I try to convert back to CEX my Multiman wont flash my PS3.

As i said i just tested the view and so far no problems at all.. i didnt resign them or transfered the original files back.

so rebug rex vs kmeaw 3.55 would be that with rebug rex i dont need to edit eboots vs kmeaw 3.55 does have to edit eboots? correct? why else would rex be better than kmeaw 3.55 right now? Not a sarcastic question. Sorry if it seems so. Rebug rules for this release thanks guys!

Download true acencestors resigner and chose option 1 for everything (if resigning to new CFW)
Now FTP into hd0/games and not into hd0/GAMES
Now go into every folder in that directory and FTP the icon images to your desktop so you know which folder is for what. For example I want to resign Assassins creed 1 to work on 4.21 CFW (psn title) The original folder name is gonna be NP****** so to make things easier for me I'm gonna transfer the icon image to my computer to determine If that really is AC1 once I've done that I'll transfer the Eboot for AC1 and resign it with 4.21 keys and transfer it back that is how I got it working. Hope it helps you and any one else who needs this info.

Im also one of the unlucky ones who doesnt still have his original CEX flash or Eiod Key to enable my return to CEX.The guides ive seen on here and elswhere just dont work!! This C2D method using CMD prompt blah blah is driving me insane with loads of other DEX users by the sounds of things.Can somebody please post a simple(Not translated) method to do this

i was on rebug 3.55r2 (it was never downgraded always upgraded)
format my harddrive and and set all settings to default
run the Enable QA Toggle flag
i Enable QA Toggle flag four times , but still nothing happend ,with the keycombo,i was on the network settings)
i update the ps3 to the rebug 4.21.1 rex (and all went fine) ,not tru recovery
but i still want to now how i can see on a 4.21 cfw if the QA is enabled

I tested this firmware here (4.30> downgrader> 3:55> rebug 4.21) and it worked fine (great job, Rebug Team)

I ended up reinstalling Rogero 4.30 because of games I bought recently on PSN (Okami HD for example) that does not work ( and I'm too lazy to try to fix it
I'll be eagerly waiting for a 4.3x Rebug CFW =]

Q1: How many people have had success updating straight from Rogero 4.21 to Rebug REX 4.21, as I have so far seen one post whom confirmed but I just wanted a little more assurance than that, also is there any issues that could arise from not downgrading first to 3.55 (My console is the CECH-2502A)?

I need some info/checks before upgrading
- On Rebug 3.55.2 right now (spoofed as 4.31 with sen enabled)
- QA Flag should be enabled, but no way to check in rebug 3.55.2 it seems?
- Flash back to 3.55 OFW from recovery first then?
- Or go to 3.55.3 REX to check QA toggle is OK?
- Then from 3.55 rex -> 4.21 rex?
I made .bak files of all sfo / eboot / sprx so i should be good to go on 4.x

It's been asked a few times now in this thread, but never answered:
Does homebrew signed for 3.55 still work on REX 4.21 or does it have to be resigned as with the rogero CFW.
And speaking of Rogero CFW, he also does a hell of a job, but the difference between him and the Rebug team is, Rebug team keeps the beta's to themselves and a select group for testing before publicly releasing their CFW's, Rogero doesn't have a 'team' like that and uses the public to test his CFW's (which he also warns when he has a CFW to test, but people just don't seem to read the warning and go ahead and cripple their PS3 and then blame Rogero for it).. And the long testing period Rebug uses also explains why there still isn't a 4.30 version of their REX (as explained by them somewhere else), in the end we'll see a 4.30 or higher version as well.. Problem for Rebug is they also have DEX functionalities in their CFW and therefore also rely on a higher DEX firmware (and the higher DEX seems to create some problems at the moment)..

Okay, totally off topic, but those who are unable to run NFSMW on Rogero 4.21 just download the 1.01 update for the BLUS version (It requires firmware 4.10).. Profit!!
.. so if you are on 3.55, update and rock.. if you are on some other 4.xx CFW hold your horses, Lv1 will fall shortly...
Back on topic, this is just a start, Rebug has the habit of... lets say.. "levelling up"

all dumps identical files, only if u go by the wiki about the 00-FF's percentages on VALID NOR backups its between:

I was having issues downgrading from 4.21 rogero cfw v1.00 back to 3.55, after fighting with my cecha01 for about an hour if not more I downgraded back to 3.55 ofw and rehashed.
I'm so stoked to try out the latest edition of the cfw 4.21 family, rebug is the best cfw,
I directly upgraded from rebug to rogero 4.21 cfw v1.00 with no issues when several
people on other cfws bricked after updating.

After checking the QA enabled option with the toolbox, i went back to recovery, and to 4.21 REX. Everything is fine for me.
(Im assuming i'm already properly dehashed, the PS3 was never downgraded at any point.)

After 2 years of kmeaw, I'm now on 4.21.1 Rebug
I succesfully updated with [MENTION=185665]itskamel[/MENTION] s tutorial.
Here is a list with problems I encountered while testing this REBUG REX 4.21.1
PROBLEMS:
I would like to report some problems with the online thingy first.
I get some errors when I'm signed out after getting signed in and willing to sign back in and other errors occur while signed in and suddenly I get signed out by an error.
ERROR : Get stucked at trophy searching (27%)
ERROR : Get's kicked back to XMB
ERROR : 80010017
ERROR : 80010017
ERROR : Registration of trophy information could not be succeeded
-> 80022D11
Most games can be fixed by resigning them to a higher fw, but not sure how *to resolve the SEN and trophy errors ...

I had the same error but i could fix it..
go to the home dir over ftp
brwose to your trophy folder
delete them (i did because i had synced them some time before the update of cfw)
go to system recovery
use rebuild database
log in again and sync your trophys ...
thats the way i had to do it because i had the same 5% error

Finally gave in to the temptation and installed rebug 4.21 rex

Tried some games and so far these games still works for me.

So far i encountered not a single problem with this GREAT CFW
big props to Team rebug and all teh Guys mentioned by tehm we all know well by now
i can login perfectly (REBUG mode)
even VIDZONE is working right after installing and updating
got me the new psn games like walking dead, scary girl, i am alive etc .. all working perfectly .. thnxs to PROPJOE and to his new site wehre you can get fixes
all games i had installed i tested by now are working and YES they are prepatched for 3.55 and no need to resign any of them.... look some pages back for the list .. page 15 i think ..
and showtime works from MM and from XMB
all the new PS3 gadgets work from the Pack from Deanks MM Pack
RetroArch works fine also
I would say no Reason to stay on Kmeaw anymore

tested RR unbounded resigned with key rev 01 and 340 (t/m355 keys) is working fine on 421rex, triangle-game settings-change if not boot, correct settings = boot with oldskool stuff, maybe some along the line wil refuse..there's so many

-Jaicrab flasher with my original CEX nor bin bricked it
-Those "converter PUPs" don't work
-MM won't flash 355CEX.EID0.NORBIN. It says "Error accessing FLASH device! Please install 3.55CEX/DEX firmware first". This seems to be due to having the DEX version of MM installed, but I don't know which CEX version to install
-Flashing my original CEX image back via E3 flasher seems to be the only way to go, but...
Of course, when you need it the most, the devwiki is down, and even if it was up, all the files have been removed

I had to used there dowgrader from in the XMB to downgrade from 4.30cfw
kept giving me a error data is corrupt when trying to install REX4.21 from inside XMB from the downgrade 999 cfw.
Had to install rebug3.55-2 from xmb
and then I installed REX 4.21 from XMB and...
WELCOME BACK REBUG TO MY PS3! ^_^
everything works 100% all my games all my psn titles, PSN Store, netflix, Home, that xvideo thing etc..
just got done on HOME and now back to Borderlands 2 ^_^ lol

I never had to resign any of my games or PSN titles when i upgraded from 3.55 to regero 4.21 1.09b then to 4.3 E3.
not everyone was having to resign PSN titles. All my Zombiekillah patches worked too. only thing i ever had to sign when i upgraded to the 4.21 and 4.3 cfw's was my homebrew, nothing else.
so im not exactly sure whare you caught me on buddy ^_^ :-p
scower the forums there are alot of people that didnt need to resign psn titles from DUPLEX or NODRM. Then again there are some that couldnt get them to load. Exact reason for that I have no clue. All I know is im one of the people who didnt need to resign any of my PSN titles or DLC or Patches.

All my games are black screening from external on multiman 4.10 (but not internal)... Anyone have this problem? They're the original unmodified rips and played fine on 3.55, but that was a different PS3. On this one I went from 3.30 ofw to 3.55 rebug to 4.21

maybe you got lucky or don't have a lot of psn games, people with 200+ downloads on their ps3 hard drive, it's a impossible feat to reconvert every eboot to newer 4.21 keys so it's a feasible option to stay on 3.55 till something gets sorted out, until that happens i am staying on 3.55, nothing will ever change that decision.

installed on 3.55 kmeaw..psn working.. all backed up games working without resigning. many of them were fixed with eboot patches but they are working on this cfw..
not working are the psn titles and homebrew signed for 3.55 but i got them also working with true ancestor resigner.. just resign thier eboots and they will work..

you only have to de hash if you install an unpatched fw like ofw 3.55 or some of the original cfw plus you dehash when you qa and you must do that

Just grabbed my Prince of Persia disc (BLES-00389) with Multiman 4.10.0, tried to start it but only black screen. Game copied to external, game disc is inserted, tried select+x, but unfortunately no go. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hey all,
I updated from Kmeaw to Repug 4.21. Everything went well and I can connect to Playstation Store. One thing I noticed though is that the Disc Icon is missing so whenever I insert a PS3 Game or Movie, the Disc Icon won't show up in the XMB so I can't play them.
Is this a known issue? It was all working fine under 3.55.

PLEASE HELP!!!
I installed Rebugs 4.21 CFW and the Rebugs toolbox.
Accidently i pressed on "Boot OtherOS" and changed the bootorder.
Now im stuck at a black screen because i dont installed petiboot or have a petiboot partion on my hdd. cant change boot order to gameos.
my usb ports doesnt working and it seems they get no power...
thought when i make a hard reset the console boots from gameos (push the power button for about 5 seconds) but it only get back to the black screen. recovery menu also doesnt seems to start. completlely stuck at the boot sequence... =(

Bug in REX maybe?
I was able to access the store yesterday when i installed this, now when i click PSstore it ask me to download software to be able to use it. I download it and install it then when i go into the store it hangs on a black screen with PSstore logo and a loading bar below it just constantly loading.
Anyone experiencing this? and if so how can we fix this

Just so people know, The FAKE PLUS does not work, when its activated and you try to sign in it tells you that a error has occured. I have tried it and then shut if off and now the store works again. So just in case ^_^ anyone tries that.

no it will not cause that was built with and to work with 3.55, even if you resign it, that app will not work. Even resigned the app just boots you back to XMB.

So I finally jumped from kmeaw 3.55 to rebug 4.21 rex.
Never downgraded but still did qa flag.
Upgrade went smoothly. Afterwards was able to sign in to psn and sync all my trophies. Tried some psn and psx games signed for 3.55 - half of them worked while other didn't. I wander if it's because of methods used to fixed them for 3.55 cfw.
The only issue I have and it's a major one. I upgraded to latest multiman 4.10 and whenever I select a game (doesn't matter which game - pre-3.55, 3.55 patched, or with newer firmware), it just goes to black screen and ps3 freezes. It never even gets to xmb where I could launch a game from disc icon (I have original ps3 game in bd drive).
What could be causing this? Do I need to enable/disable certain setting in rebug or multiman to make it work?
If anyone has some idea, please share.
Edit: I got it fixed. I just had to uninstall multiman and do clean install. Must of been two years of updating same multiman installation w/o ever deleting it. Glad to see that all of my 3.55 patched games are working.

A LOT safer than the traditional method.. both CEX and DEX kernels are already in there.. you just need your dump.. click a button and youre DEX, click a button again and youre CEX.

Im thinking that its just a play on words cause the FW can switch between CEX and DEX settings. they were probably trying to come up with a name for inbetween those and decided to use R because of there team name ^_^

hehe, this is my fourth post here, but the fact of the matter, I barely visit this site, so meh.
Don't go bashing me with idiotic things for my question might have a real simple solution to it. Okay, I am now on the new rebug firmware, 4.21.1, my PS is a SLIM model, and I do believe I could get it to DEX, but I am having trouble with that.
"This option requires you have a valid NOR/NAND dump named correctly on dev_usb000. Use EXPORT FLASH TO FILE function to dump your NOR/NAND to dev_usb000 and then use c2d.exe to convert your dump to DEX."
I have been trying to use that program, 'c2d.exe', but for some reason my dump does not convert, to my knowledge, the CMD that pops up stays the same and then just goes away after a few seconds of just staying there doing nothing. The CMD screen has this written on it:

hi,i just wanted to ask something.i have a ps3 slim 2004A.it was on rebug 3.55.2 qa flagged.intalled 3.55.3,ok and then 4.21.1 through recovery mode.the system didnt reboot so i closed it by holding the button.ps3 told me about corrupted hdd when opened again and it seemed it fixed it.however to be sure ,what i have to do? a) recovery ,restore ,then format and reinstall 4.21.1 through recovery or b)downgrade ,dehash and install 4.21.1.i have a nor dump made by toolbox on 4.21.1 and if I buy a hardware flasher in case something goes wrong what firmware will I be able to restore 4.21.1 or 3.55?

I'm using Rogero 3.55 CEX CFW v3.6 on my FAT NAND. I want to install OFW 3.55 but i couldn't boot to Recovery Mode, I followed the procedure to boot to Recovery Mode but didn't successful. Very strange. Before i could many times if it was OFW. I ask many guy and some guy advise me
1: install 999 downgrader from XMB
2: then install toolbox2,
3: then toggle Qa
4: then install rebug 4.21.1 REX EDITIONS ?
Can I install 3.55.3 REX EDITIONS at step 4 or I have to install OFW 3.55?

I instaled Rebug 4.21.1 Rex and Multiman but it does not recognice my USB HDD with i had on my other PS3 i just made a New USB.CFG and still doesnt detect it it act like it loading but no go my backups wont show up anyone with this problem or any help would be greatly apreciated

Still getting a lot of black screens here after loading backup from Multiman. Even after download updates onto USB from Mulitiman and installed the downloaded *.pkg files. What I do notice is that if I go back into multiman and select update for the game it tells me to
re-download updates, does this mean that the updates (pkg files) are not installing correctly?

Well you must be doing something wrong. Not sure about correctly reformatting the hdd, but i would suggest to format the harddisk. But i am not sure if this is as easily possible as on 3.55. I heard some people had problems. So maybe start with deleting all save games/gamedata/etc. Then check for bd mirror and so on.

after dex to cex conversion I have installed rebug 3.55.3 but nothing seems to load any longer. I can't load multiman latest version or rebug toolbox. Both go to a black screen and freeze. When you press the ps button nothing happens and you end up having to shut off by holding the button. I can install pkg's but I have not been able to get multiman to load after converting to rebug.

I believe everything will be ok in the upcoming Rebug 4.30CFW. The PS2 issue is related to some patches, which are required for booting OtherOS/Linux.

I'm still on rebug 3.55 (not 3.55.2 or any other updates). Can I or how can I update the firmware to the latest REBUG 3.55.3 REX EDITION without a complete wipe of my existing firmware/game saves/photos and media.

I updated from xmb.
From Rebug 3.55.2 to Rebug Rex 4.21.1 then to Rex 4.21.2

5 - updated mm to latest version

Which options do you recommend to use on rebug to run a similar set up to that which we had on KMEAW?
(I'm behind on knowing about normal/retail vs rebug system modes)

I saw [MENTION=194399]H3avyRa1n[/MENTION]s post about updating from KMEAW to REBUG and trust his opinion.
I have rebug 4.30.1, rogero 2.05 and everything else I need on my HDD ready to roll.... i'm just delaying the inevitable.. much to [MENTION=174244]ocam[/MENTION]s despair :P

I just opened the toolbox once to put the following options:
- XMB OPERATION MODE:
DEBUG XMB
- DEBUG MENU TYPE:
CEX QA (retail)
And you're ready to do everything you used to do with kmeaw.
If you need anything else just let me know.

Kmeaw was my first fw back when I acquired my ps3 in 2011... used it for pretty much a year, it's definately the most solid of all 3.55 fws, had some fun with DEX when it leaked later on, then all the hastle about 4.21 CEX came up and I ended up on Rogero 4.30 v2.03... used it for a month then decided to try out PSN since it's been avaiable and all, made the mistake of making my first account registered in a country that does not have acess to Playstation Store and needed to create a new user to be able to use the new account, that's when REBUG 4.21.1 had just been released. I installed the little REX beauty and it hit me... it looked just like Kmeaw on steroids, seriously, Rogero doesn't even get close, it's slower and glitchier than REBUG, crashes way more often... the v2.03 at least. I'm on REBUG 4.30.1 now and believe me, the features people claim useless or unnecessary will come in hand eventually. Fake Save Data Owner spared me quite a headache! So DEFAULTNB, if that Kmeaw feel means anything to you... there's only one firmware above 3.55 to go to.

Once you've opened the Toolbox there will be an option near/below XMB Mode to select the Debug Menu, CEX/QA and DEBUG are the options, choose DEBUG, close the Toolbox then go the the DEBUG menu on XMB and scroll down til you find the Fake Save Data Owner option. Turn it on and enjoy.

I'm was about to upgrade to this I'm on 4.21.1 at the mo
I went to qa toggle and got a 80010017 error
The button config at network settings won't show up (just debug settings)
I renamed the pup to update put in ps3/update folder
But won't go any further as I can't confirm qa toggle is working other wise am I doing every thing else write
Help me anyone ?

That's because qa toggle doesn't work on 3.56+ slimbo
If you really want qa toggle, you need to go back to 3.55

Also if you use the rebug toolbox, you won't need to use the buttoncombo, all you need to do is set the QAtoggle to enabled in the rebug toolbox..

This is what i will do im on rebug 4.21.1 at the mo
1 rename pup to update.pup & put it in a folder ps3/update
2 put the folder on my ext harddrive and plug into the ps3
3 goto system update 0n xbm
4 select the update and install it
is this the correct way to go about installing rebug 4.30 std
have i missed anything out ? or is something wrong ?
